I interviewed the creator of ArtQuest VR. His goal wasn't to replace museums, but to get people to visit them.

I recently spent some time with ArtQuest VR and interviewed its creator, Eric Mosinger, for UploadVR.

One thing that stuck with me was that he doesn't see VR as a replacement for museums. His favorite feedback is hearing that someone used ArtQuest and then decided to visit a museum in real life.

I actually had a similar experience. Standing inches from paintings, I found myself noticing brushstrokes, layers of paint, and details I'd never paid much attention to before.

Curious what others think. Have you ever had a VR experience make you appreciate something in the real world more?

The Met offers two free immersive experiences on Quest. Has anyone here tried them?

I recently spent time with Dendur Decoded and Oceania: A New Horizon of Space and Time, two free experiences available through the Atopia app on Quest.

Dendur Decoded in particular gave me a much better understanding of how the Temple of Dendur ended up in New York.

I'm curious if anyone else here has tried them and what your impressions were.

I also interviewed The Met's immersive technology team if anyone is interested in the background:

Realms of Flow VR

I recently had the opportunity to speak with Realms of Flow creator Marc Zimmermann about immersive design, atmosphere, music, and the reactions users have shared with him over the years.

It got me thinking about the VR experiences that leave a lasting impression. Not necessarily the biggest games or the most technically advanced experiences, but the ones you still find yourself thinking about months or years later.

What VR experience had that effect on you?
