Sooooo… what are we supposed to do for work?

I’ve got 2 bachelor degrees in psychology and organizational leadership, and my MBA with a HR emphasis. We’re currently stationed in Kansas, USA, and believe me when I say there are minimal job opportunities that aren’t nursing, childcare, or part time. I’m fortunate to be working in business development for a non-profit right now, but feel I could be doing more, especially with my credentials.

What are we supposed to do, how are we supposed to maintain our own careers? I love my fiancé, but this is extremely frustrating, especially in the currently climate where remote work is limited. I’m NOT going back to school, at least not for the foreseeable future. 3 college degrees in the past 7 years is plenty.

I guess I’m just upset that they station servicemembers in the middle of nowhere so much. It would be great if I could find work equivalent to my education and experience, but all that’s available out here is farming, engineering, or extremely niche jobs that require specific qualifications or credentials.

How do I know when to hang it up as a scare actor?

Hi, all! Happy Halloween season. I’ve been a scare actor for 6 years and, I can’t believe I’m typing this, I think I’m burning out? I worked at a large amusement park attraction for 3 years in college, and after moving, now work at a smaller high-quality haunt in a more rural area. This’ll be my 3rd season here, and I’ve never really felt like I’ve connected at the same level as my previous haunt.

I LOVED the environment when I was at the park. I could roam around the streets, get creative, and do as much improv as I wanted in a huge space. We would see 30,000+ people a night. I made so many friends around the same age. I have a lot of fond and meaningful memories from my time there.

After moving (military spouse), I felt so fortunate to have a haunt 5 minutes from my new home. I thought it was gonna be the most awesome thing ever. And yeah, it’s been fine. But the cast is much smaller, the crowds are nowhere near the same PLANET that the amusement park was on, and management leaves a lot to be desired. I’m one of the older actors there and it’s very awkward to try and interact with teen actors. Makes me feel weird and doesn’t allow me to make as many friends.

I dunno. Between management sticking me in drop panels, in stationary rooms, etc., working with minors, difficult personalities to contend with, I find myself dreading this season more than celebrating it. And I don’t want to be a diva, but I won actor of the year out of the entire amusement park cast, and here I feel overlooked and disregarded, and other, weaker actors get better positions and placements simply because they’re friends/family of management.

How do I know if it’s time to hang it up and maybe find a new Fall hobby? I’m very conflicted.

Our new Khajiit kittens clearly miss Nirn

They’re huge fans of the lockpicking animations too. I love raising criminals!

Does anyone know what this BS is about?

An STL meme page on Instagram is claiming that STLPR and others are “stealing” their memes and posting them as original content. Keep in mind these are super common memes in the online space and they’re often not even completely the same. This page posts these kinds of rants like every day and it’s super entertaining to watch, given that they think they have a right to monopolize on memes about STL. Does anyone have more in-depth info on the background here?

And yes, I checked their profile for a pinned post and didn’t see anything.

Aaaaaaaand that’s an instant block!

It’s so shitty that these people try to take advantage of consumers during an expensive, stressful, and vulnerable time in their lives. Ugh.

And how can you get a “virtual” facial…? What?

Can we stop shaming people for having more expensive weddings?

Every now and then on here I see the most backhanded comments from people saying “I’m glad you had a fun wedding, but I could never imagine spending that much” or “I eloped, so the concept of spending this much money is crazy to me” in response to couples that have a higher budget wedding. It’s not helpful and is just as bad as shaming a couple for trying to be budgetarily conscious. Yes, believe it or not some people do have money, or family that choose to contribute a significant amount, and rather than pocket the change or reallocate the funds, many choose to spend it on their wedding. It’s not “wasteful”, it doesn’t make their commitment to one another any less meaningful or performative, some people just have the means and use the means the way that is best for them.

If we’re going to support wedding planning here, we need to support people of all budgets and lifestyles. Throwing shade at other group members when they have a more expensive wedding than you deem “acceptable” is unfair.

Does anyone know what’s being developed in the Westloop?

Next to Midwest Dream Car Collection, there’s rumor of a QuickTrip? Does anyone have any idea? Nothing is being built yet, but the area is being mapped and surveyed.

Those of you who got legally married before having the traditional ceremony and reception, when do you celebrate your anniversary?

Just curious! My fiancé and I are thinking of going this route and I’d love some input!

Wedding photographers for $2.5k or under?

Hi, all! My fiancé and I got engaged last month and have jumped right into wedding planning. I am finding that wedding photography around here is extremely expensive, with most packages starting at $4k and above. Does anyone have suggestions for quality photographers for $2.5k and under? Or ideas on where I could look to do my own research? Thank you!
