no adderall in NYC?

my bf and i just moved back to the city after a year out of state and we’re both being told by our pharmacies that there is an adderall (and generic) shortage apparently affecting NYC and that there won’t be more until September. is it just our pharmacy (Walgreens/duane reade) or is that true all over the city? we’re contemplating filling it at our out of state pharmacy and having someone get it to us…

seen on IG

this reel has 18k likes, he’s a “sobriety influencer” on instagram… they love to make this joke as if they’re in on the somewhat silly or pathetic nature of the incessant meetings.

Karen :/

she was the age that ariana is now :(

this whole thing is really sad, what hollywood, capitalism, patriarchy does to people

i know she’s a very flawed human being but i can no longer see anything other than a really sad situation

i guess it has at least helped me reexamine the depths of my own issues with my body. it is so scary, the part of my brain that wants me to shrink away

i wanna speak with some bass in my voice again

i am so sick of obsessing over my appearance, i am 32 as well and i am far too old to care this much. i’m exhausted and i’ve survived so much.

why would i be angry at a body that’s done its best to keep me alive?

rant

my entire family is in AA, it’s where my parents met. i have been so indoctrinated and have been unpacking it in therapy since i got sober 2+ years ago. i haven’t been to a meeting in like 6? months.

my parents’ community and friends (of which they have many) are also all AA people. they’ve helped a lot of people get/stay sober over the years (which my father would LOVE hearing, how they owe their lives to them, cuz he’s a narcissist).

i’m moving to another city soon from a house to an apartment with my dog who has some behavioral issues and my mom told me to ask her friend, who i remember from childhood, for help. she trains german shepherds for like, police or something and is a brilliant person and extremely talented dog trainer.

she has been going above and beyond to help me with my dog and refuses to let me pay her. the thing that is tripping me up is im like, is she just doing this to “help other AA’s” or whatever they say? like, my family’s always helping people in different ways that aren’t entirely sobriety related, but it seems like ONLY other AA people. if they need an odd job done, that’s who they hire. don’t get me wrong it’s great to give back to the community that helped you. but they would totally be judgey and not help someone who “wasn’t going to meetings anymore” cause they wouldn’t want to enable them.

she reached out to me via text a few months back for my expertise in something her adult kid needed help with, and i didnt do much other than offer advice. but i thought, maybe this is why she’s helping, cause i’ve tried to help her out before. but then yesterday, she asked who my sponsor was and i didnt know what to say. i was afraid she’d stop helping me, so i made up a fake name. (mind you i’ve never told her i was sober or anything like that, but i’m sure my family did because the second A is for decoration).

it’s probably just my family’s religious trauma talking, but i don’t trust people’s motivation when they offer to help me. it’s always strings attached, or to make them look good to the rest of the AA community. i know this is not unique to AA and can be true for all people, but still. the in-group-out-group thing is so strange.

for the same reason, i’m afraid to tell my dad i don’t go to meetings anymore, like he doesn’t know how to have a relationship with me without it. in reality i think he’s afraid… me not needing AA to stay sober is a threat to his entire worldview.

ugh i hate what AA did to me… my childhood, my naive, traumatizing adulthood, my brother, RIP

looking for an interval watch

does anyone remember this thing i saw online around 2013 that was an interval timer watch, essentially? the “Durr shiver bracelet” was a bracelet/watch with no face that would silently vibrate/shiver every five minutes to remind you of the passage of time. this would be sooo helpful for me as someone who is constantly late. time blindness really kicks my ass. i put clocks everywhere, but something would have to remind me to check the time. the Durr was an experimental, artistic thing and they don’t make them anymore. i’ve searched high and low for something like this and there really isn’t anything that does this exact thing. i don’t want an apple watch, don’t need another screen to distract me.
let me know if you have any suggestions! TIA

skyline tower

anyone live in skyline tower? do you rent or own? how do you like it?

we just started a grueling application/condo board approval process and we’re really hoping it’s worth it. we love the building but obviously don’t live there yet

Brokers: why

we are in town looking for an apartment and having no luck so we asked a broker for help this morning. he “set us up” on tours with other brokers… but he just sent us streeteasy listings that are public for anyone to see. we thought we might have an edge by hiring a broker and see some places before they were posted publicly.

what’s to stop us from ghosting the broker and just going through streeteasy? we haven’t signed anything…

i got AVN and had to have my hip replaced at 29. i’ve been sober two years now (32m nope the first hip replacement didn’t stop me) but i think i might have to get my other hip replaced due to damage that happened before i quit drinking. there’s not really a definitive cause but given my age, it’s probably the alcoholism. i’m wondering how common this is, do you/any drunks you know have it too? i’m really scared and sad
