2025 LT rattling

2025 LT - It doesn’t rattle all the time but it usually starts up when I go over something and that “activates” it. I can’t seem to pinpoint where it’s coming from except hearing it from the passenger side. It’s been going on for a long time and it’s annoying as hell 😂

Pay off the car or sell it and buy something used..?

Some quick backstory.

36M who makes around 30k a year doing gig work full time. Had w2’s all my life honestly not making much, probably the same as I do now if not a bit less. I didn’t go to college so I don’t have any degrees so I’ve just been trying to find my path in life in the workplace.

I found gig work in 2021/2022 after getting laid off due to covid and have been doing gig work since. The appeal has been working whenever I want, having freedom within my schedule and flexibility. However, the cons are really starting to outweigh the pros.

I’ve been able to survive on my own the last 4 years and I’m a fully independent single man who rents but I’ve gotten to the point where I’m tired of barely making it so I’ve been applying for w2’s again in hopes and wanting to make more money and have stable income again.

With that said, I have a 2025 Chevy Trax that I owe $15k on that I got two years ago and it already has 38k miles since I use it for my job. My monthly payment is $344/mo and I’ve recently looked on KBB and Carvana and they would both give me $18k.

I found George Kamel’s YT channel probably 5-6 months ago and gone done a rabbit hole of his content. I’ve always heard and knew of Dave and then discovered George works for Dave.

So at the moment I have $6,200 in my HYSA and deposit $25/week into. I have a little under $2k in my Roth IRA that I opened up earlier this year and I deposit $75/week into it. I’m starting to take savings/retirement more seriously.

I’d love to max out my Roth IRA moving forward and I’m missing that $300-350/mo with my car payment almost exactly.

I know Dave and them teach to pay off debt first before investing but I’ve been juggling both because I feel so late to the investing side of things.

If you were me, would you sell off the car, walk away with $2-3k and find a used car for well under $10k? I’m tempted to do that but I don’t want to destroy my savings of what would be $8-9k after selling the car.

So I was thinking of maybe taking a portion of my savings like 3-4k and then maybe get a personal loan to make up the difference and buy X car.

Or do I just keep my car, get a w2 that pays more than what I make now and just pay off my car as quick as possible? Or lastly, keep my car until I can stack up more in my savings with a w2 and my current side gig and then buy a used car in cash?

I don’t feel the dire “need” to sell my car but it would be nice to have that money back in my pocket going towards my Roth IRA and just not be in debt. The car is the only debt I have, I live below my means and I’m quite frugal.

Sorry for the novel. Please be easy on me 😂

Adam’s last video…

So when do you think this is this dropping?

I’m thinking it’ll be on his bday which is August 10th (same day as my dad and that’s how I remember), or the day he passed away in December.

Wondering if it’ll be dropped as is or if whoever is in control of it is going to add to it or whatever. 🤔

On my Roth IRA journey…

Started my Roth IRA journey back in March as a 35 year old (yes, I feel old 🤣, better late than never) and I started doing $25/week but was able to manage to now do $75/week. Eventually I want to work towards maxing it out but I’m not there yet to do it.

With that said, I have a little under 7 full shares of FXAIX and I’m only investing in FXAIX.

My question is, ideally what’s more important, is the % gains over time or how many shares we have? Every week I’m getting fractional shares obviously since the price is like $260 or so per.

If it kind of makes sense to invest into other similar or exact index funds if the price per share is significantly less, I’m open to that.

What does your bench consist of?

Do you run a righty & lefty power hitters and then have one guy for utility and then a speed guy?

Genuinely curious how people construct their bench

At the moment, I have Willie McGee to come in late for speed and defense, Cole Carrigg because he’s a utility guy who can play a lot of positions including catcher and has great base stats as is.

Then my righty power hitter at the moment is spotlight Paul Goldschmidt who’s actually really good. I did just get Castellanos so I may use him instead of Goldy.

My lefty power hitter is Summer Seager.

People and their driving is crazy out here…

Been living here for a little over 4 years and I routinely and nonchalantly see so many drivers just going through red lights solely because they’re tired of waiting for a green light. I notice it so much early in the morning when there’s not a lot of cars out. People just tend to ignore they’re at a red light and go when there’s just about nobody around.

Just now on sweeten creek & Royal pines dr traffic light by Rocky’s, I was going through the light that was green and still green well after I passed the light and I saw this white pickup truck just casually go through the intersection who was waiting on Royal pines dr. I did notice there was a car behind me but the truck had just enough time to make it through without getting into an accident.

I see this so often, it just blows my mind. Would be nice for someone to get caught one day

Pay off interest free debt asap or wait until the promotion ends?

So I have $1,600 on an interest free credit card promo until January 2027. I have $6k in a HYSA that I contribute $100/mo and I contribute $300/mo to my Roth IRA.

I will pay off the credit card by January but part of me wants to just do it now and not let it prolong until January.

Right now, I either do $100-200/mo to the credit card statement depending on what I feel comfortable doing each month.

I’m kind of debating on taking the $1,600 out of my savings or stop 5 months of contributing $300/mo in my IRA and go that route. That’s honestly the preferred route I’m considering over taking $1,600 out of my HYSA.

For some context, I’m 35 and I honestly just started my Ira a few months ago and I have about $1,500 into it right now.

If you were me, would you stop contributing into the IRA for 5 months and go that route or just take it out of the HYSA and just replenish that money each month I was paying down the credit card and put it back into the HYSA ?

Or don’t do any of this and just pay it off by January and still contribute to both HYSA and Roth IRA?

Outside of my car loan of $14k, this interest free credit card debt is the only debt I have.

To me, it’s just a mental thing of that $1,600 that’s bothering me and having to pay it month after month. 😂
