Some Lawn Equipment Questions

First, does anyone use the 20v OPE instead of the 60v? Mower, trimmer, blower, etc? I have a .25 acre property (about 7,500 sqft of lawn). The Flexvolt stuff is a bit pricy for me so I'm trying to decide if it's really worth the financial push. I guess I'm wondering if all the new tabless batteries will be sufficient for 20v?

Second, I didn't see a lot of OPE stuff in the recent Dewalt event (maybe I missed it). Does anyone know if Dewalt will be releasing new 20v options? Or are they really pushing the 60v when it comes to outdoor? I'm thinking multi-head attachments, new mowers (because it seems the current generation has failed to really take off).

Third, and I'm fully aware of the thread I'm in but I'm asking anyway, is Ryobi 40v or the new Kobalt 48v close to what Dewalt offers? Or would I hate it? lol

Thanks guys.

18v Lawn equipment?

I’m curious if there any of you out there who use all the 18v OPE and like it?

And I’m thinking their best options, the HP stuff (not the cheapest 18v options). Mower, Trimmer, Blower, Pruning Saw, etc.

I’m in need of upgrading my trimmer and blower and may want to add more in the future. So I’m trying to decide between 18v and 40v.

I know 40v will have more power. But 18v works with so many other tools.

I’d love to hear from those who use them?

String Trimmer Issues?

I just purchased the newer 18v brushless string trimmer (PBLST01B) and while the power is there, I’m having issues with the bump feed.

No matter how many times I bump it, how hard, or at what angle, I can’t really get the string to dispense more.

Anyone else with this issue?

Buying In?

I know I’m in the Kobalt thread but I’d still love to get some opinions on Kobalt.

I’ve previously been all in on Dewalt. Including their 20v outdoor equipment.

Well, for me personally I can’t justify the price anymore. I use the tools for hobby working, DIY fixes, and caring for the lawn. But not enough to be paying what the pros pay.

So, how does everyone like them? Mowers, weed eaters, drills, saws? Even smaller things like inflators, fans, etc.

I’d love your input.

Brush Cutter?

Anyone have any experience with the Ryobi brush cutter attachment?

And has anyone used it with an 18v? As of right now I only have 18v batteries.

Thanks

Ryobi Handheld Blower

Hey, I just purchased the Ryobi handheld blower and to my ear it’s super high pitched and grating on the ear.

Is it just me or do others feel the same way?

Canvas Vs. Frame

So, I purchased both 2026 versions of the Canvas and Frame Pro and I was surprised by the results. Here are some of my thoughts:

1.) I genuinely prefer the art mode on the Hisense. The Frame Pro maintains a slight glow (even with brightness down) and destroys the art illusion. Also, for some reason, the art on the Hisense looks like it has more texture (less like a screen). Though I do think the Frame handles glares better.

2.) The Hisense user interface is better. Samsung was such a hassle to do anything. I honestly hated trying to do anything. lol

3.) When it comes to watching movies/tv the Frame is better for most things. The colors and contrast seems richer. However, in really dark scenes (I tried watching Solo) the detail becomes literally unseeable (it's just too dark). The Hisense could do a little better but the trade off was that blacks became grey. I'm not sure which is better, seeing it but it's grey or it being true black but too dark. lol.

4.) The lack of included frame on The Frame and required art subscription left a bit of bad taste.

5.) I felt with both I was making concessions and at least for me, if I'm going to make a confession, I'd rather do so on the one that cost half as much. So I'm going to keep the Canvas.

Too Dark…

Hey everyone, I bought a Frame Pro (2026) a couple of days ago and I’m having issues with it being too dark.

The art side of things is fine, but we’ve tried to watch a couple of movies and despite tons of time messing with settings, the image is so dark it’s hard to see.

We watched Solo and there are scenes in the first few minutes where I couldn’t even make out the person on the screen (I watched the same scene on my computer and it’s clear).

Anyone else have these issues?

Watching Movies

I’m really considering the Frame pro. How does everyone like it for watching movies? I know it’s not the same as an OLED, and I’m ok with that.

But I’m just wondering how users like its movie watching quality? Is it dark or washed out looking?

Thanks for the help.

Size & Weight

As someone looking into Milwaukee m12 who currently owns Dewalt, do the m12s really feel that much smaller and lighter?

I noticed I often seen people use the bigger m12 batteries which don’t seem that much smaller than some of the Dewalt’s stacked lithium?

Just curious to hear from maybe those who’ve used both. Thanks!

Thoughts On Prices

I’ve noticed over the past year that Dewalt prices seem to have eclipsed Milwaukee (at least on a number of the tools I’ve looked at).

Do we think this is the new normal? I know a couple of years ago it was the opposite way. What are your thoughts?

Clamp Fans

Man, I have purchased two of the $30 V20 clamp fans and both have had issues out of the box.

The first rattled like crazy (I guess the blade was loose). On the second the rubber clamp pads fell off in about an hour.

Anyone else have these types of issues? Seems a quality control thing.

SDS Rotary Hammer

Anyone have any experience with the m12 rotary hammer? What about compared to the dewalt atomic? Just curious your thoughts. Thanks!

Bump Feed Issues?

Just bought today the newest 18v Ryobi string trimmer (attachment capable version).

The things feels great and has great power. But I can’t seem to get the bump feed to work. Gentle, hard, center, tip — no matter how I bump it, the string doesn’t seem to come out.

Is this common or did I get a dud?

M12 Recommendation?

So, I’m sure this gets asked a lot on here but I’d love some input on which m12 impact driver to buy (it will be my first m12 tool). Should I go for the fuel or compact? Will the lack of speed modes and quick insert collet be annoying?

I will be using it for hobby woodworking and occasional DIY

My First Milwaukee?

Hey guys, I’d love your thoughts. I have nothing but Dewalt tools and I’m considering my first Milwaukee.

I’m looking for a small and light impact driver or drill for around the house and the M12s have caught my attention.

Do you guys think they would be good for DIY, furniture assembly, and even hobby wood working?

How about the ergonomics? I’ve always like Dewalt on the front so I’m curious? Thanks!

Marketing Department

Man, I really think the Craftsman/Stanley marketing department could use some help. lol. Am I the only one that finds “advanced” and “extra power” to be ridiculous names for the tabless batteries?

I bring it up because I like Craftsman but I think they need to do a better job of creating some excitement around the brand.

▲ 1 r/Dewalt

Hey guys, I snagged the Dewalt work light on clearance yesterday (I've had some Ryobi ones in the past). One thing I noticed though is that the Dewalt color temperature is pretty yellow. I'm not sure yet if I like that. Does anyone know if one of their other lights has a few more kelvins?
