Customer “doesn’t accept” our pharmacy hours

Ohhh boy. Also, I apologize if the layout is confusing. I wrote this on mobile

This happened on Labor Day, and for some background- I work at a convenience store that also has a pharmacy. When our pharmacy closes for the day, which is 6pm on weekends and 10pm on weekdays (I know the hours aren’t great to say the least; unfortunately that’s just how things are). On holidays however our pharmacy tends to get special hours.

Like Labor Day. Where they closed at five. It was on our website, but I can’t remember it being posted anywhere in the store.

So, on to the story!

I had gone to get some bandages as I’d cut myself and wanted to get it taken care of, and we were out of bandages in the front register’s first aid kit.

When I got back to the front, this middle aged woman (the entitled woman) wanted to know when our pharmacist would be back for the day.

My shift lead went “oh, they’ll be back tomorrow. Due to the holiday the pharmacy closed early.”

The customer gave like a chuckle, shook her head, and went “I’m not accepting that answer.”

She then went on about how she had chronic knee pain, that she had a flight early the next morning so she had to get her medication today.

Then the lady turned to me and went “are you the manager?”

I told her no, because I am a lowly cashier, and my shift lead said that she was the shift lead and our store manager was gone for the day. The lady shook her head, said “that’s just perfect” and continued making weird demands. She wanted my shift lead to call a pharmacist to see if they would come in, and when the call went to voicemail insisted that because the shift lead hadn’t left a message that she “read what the shift lead was typing when messaging a pharmacist so she could ensure someone was being asked to come in.”

To none of my coworker’s surprise, the pharmacist said no, they were already two hours away.

The lady insisted that the hours weren’t posted anywhere, and my other coworker told her that the hours were posted on our website. The lady then said she “doesn’t look at the website, Im a customer”.

All throughout this I’m just checking out other customers, some of whom ignore her, others shake their heads.

The lady then asks if we had to turn anyone else away and my coworker said yes. She asked if they had chronic pain, and my coworker said we didn’t know because they didn’t tell us.

Every solution my coworker offered was dismissed or not good enough; she told her about the 24/7 hour location and offered to help her find an over the counter solution in the painkillers aisle.

Nope. She wanted a pharmacist to come in and give her a recommendation. She wanted a pharmacist to come in and get her medication. Eventually she just said she “didn’t even need a pharmacist, just somebody to unlock the door so she could grab it”.

Unfortunately for her, only the pharmacist had keys to the pharmacy.
K
She finally left because my shift lead was going to call the cops for her belligerent behavior, though not before making a comment about how she can’t believe that we’d call the cops over this.

Am I overreacting for being upset about my dad/brother going out to eat almost every day?

So my mother is currently on vacation with her sister, so at the moment, it’s just me (22f), my dad, and my little brother (18m).

I have an older car model that needed new tires and a new AC unit, and because my brother and my dad like to work on cars, they’ve been working on fixing it.

The thing is, almost every time they go out, they come back with bags of food. I didn’t mind at first because they were going out and I know that sometimes you don’t think about sending a text to the other family members to see if they want anything from whatever place you’re at.

Thing is, with mom out of town, there’s no grocery list being done for the week (we all understood this when she left for the vacation), so I’m figuring out what to eat with what we have (which is sufficient until my mom gets back).

But with my dad and brother constantly going out, constantly getting food and not even asking if I want something from wherever they’re going, it feels like I’m an afterthought.

I feel jealous and upset and unseen, but I also know that I’m not that interested in car repair work, and I don’t ask to go with them; either due to me having to go to work or due to me not being interested in car repairs.

Instead, I’m figuring out food from whatever happens to be in the pantry or fridge at the moment, and it’s hard. I texted my dad asking if he wanted to get ice cream and then briefly explained how I felt about the situation, but I’m not sure if I handled it right looking back on it.

So…am I overreacting?

EDIT: ash is my brother’s nickname, not his actual name. I realized I should have clarified this before sharing the post

EDIT 2 (bc I’m getting a lot of comments bringing it up): I can get my own groceries; if I have to I work at a place where I can get groceries. I haven’t gotten any new groceries this week because I haven’t needed to, and what we have in the house right now is enough for me to figure out meals. Also I have been cooking for myself. I can feed myself and make sure I get food, the situation is just that I’m the only one thinking about what we have at home.

EDIT 3: obligatory wow this is blowing up. Thanks everyone for the comments both negative and positive, I want to say a few things- my parents aren’t too concerned with me paying my brother back, or for overall paying for the repairs (more or less there are still things I’ll be responsible for eventually), because this is the first time I’ve been interested in driving that is driven by a personal desire to drive.

Also, when my dad asked “what for” it was apparently bc he thought I meant get ice cream from my place of work. When he realized what I actually meant, he said and I quote “hell yeah I want to get ice cream”. So alls well that ends well, I’ve told him about how I felt about watching him and my brother come home with bags of food over the last few days and I feel as though we might have a small conversation about it when I get off work. So uh…thanks everyone for all the comments.

FINAL EDIT; I just wanted to say that I just got home and my dad and I had a conversation about it. He explained that he and my brother were going around a lot because it’s not just my car, it’s my brother’s car and my mom’s car that need to be worked on, and he told me that he realized today that he should’ve called and asked if I wanted something. He thanked me for saying something to him, and we’ve got a definitive ice cream plan. Again, thanks for all the comments, I wanted to give you guys this last update after my dad and I had a conversation about what’s been going on.

Do all patriarchal blessings for women involve motherhood?

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately, and I kinda want to know…my patriarchal blessing involved finding a good future husband with the advice of my mother, as well as how I was going to be a good mother someday in this life and the next.

There is an exmo mom I knew who was told that she would be a great mother.

And with the church’s emphasis on women being mothers and wives, I can’t help but wonder

Who would win in a drinking competition?

My friend and I kinda joked about this but now I’m kinda curious.

Who would win between Jack, Subject Delta, and Booker?

“The American revolution happened so that the church could be established” and other insights from testimony meeting

I heard so many people say that the reason the American Revolution happened was so that God could establish his church (one guy said he went to Lexington and Concord and thought the most important experience was the Boston temple).

And one person said that God is the reason for the United States, which like…I guess if you believe it but wouldn’t you be a little annoyed if someone said that the reason your family existed was due to a being you didn’t believe in?

The last person kept rambling about how in France and Germany people aren’t allowed to visit fire stations and because of that, tourists from France and Germany were shocked that they could walk into an American fire station

Like.??? How does being able to visit fire stations determine how ‘free’ a country is??

Anyway, what are some of the standout testimonies you guys heard today?

My friend playing infinite

He’s currently playing with me at the moment, we’re taking turns playing through different sections.

So I’m watching him play, and one of the enemies shouted something comstock, and his response?

“I’m not comstock!”

…yeah this is fun.

Infinite is a lot more fun than I originally thought but some of it is because I’m playing with a friend and that makes things so much better

If you could get a custom Bioshock-themed shirt, what would it be?

Basically the title, it can be something you say a lot in regards to Bioshock, it can be something from the game, etc.

For example, I’d get my friend a shirt that says “where’s the wrench?” Because ever since he played the first game that’s the first question he asks in every game

For me I’d get “I’d rather be in rapture” bc I’ve played games in fucked up settings since but none of them were as good as rapture.

What would yours be?

What are these marks?

I’ve had these long, scar-ish looking marks ever since I could remember, and I’ve never been able to get a good answer as to what they are. I have one on the top of each foot, though the left is more easily seen than the right, and I have one on my left middle finger.

The more prominent scars on my left hand are from a grocery store incident, the mark I’m curious about is closer to my hand.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Did I screw myself with this section?

I’m currently in this section of chapter six of the game, and I know there’s an electric generator thing I have to hit with stasis.

I ask if I’ve screwed myself over because I’m not 100% I’ve done much, if any upgrades to my stasis module- I’ve mainly upgraded the plasma cutter and my suit since I was thinking hey a reliable weapon and the ability to take a few more hits/have a bit more air would be beneficial. On the map I’m pretty sure I can backtrack and get to a bench; I’ve got one node currently, but I’d rather not and upgrade whatever I need to upgrade at the next bench I come across.

Newish dead space player- holy hell I love it

My dad recommended dead space to me after I finished the Bioshock series, and it’s been a blast so far.

Terrifying? Absolutely. I used to be an absolute scaredy cat when it came to Disney films, and now I’m fighting necromorphs.

ANYWAY I’m playing the original 2008 version since that’s the version my dad had on the Xbox and I adore the scenes and the background and the lore. Absolutely eating it up.

There was one section in chapter five regarding the Hunter necromorph and the cryogenic lab- this subreddit helped me with this encounter on my first try; I saw a post suggesting using stasis when the hunter was on the threshold of the freezer thing so it didn’t have time to get out before I hit the switch.

I love finding all the audios; exploring the landscape and seeing all the writing on the walls. Isaac Clarke is high on my list of favorite protagonists (I am not sure if he’s going to be higher than Jack or Subject Delta from the first two Bioshock games tho).

It’s definitely a lot harder than Bioshock; mainly because i have to be more careful with how I’m aiming at the necromorphs.

Anyway that’s about it. I’m hoping that Mercer dies at some point

We’re probably putting my childhood dog down tomorrow. And I can’t stop crying

We got this dog back in 2011, and he’s been with us through three different houses, my chemotherapy treatment, and a new dog we adopted as a way to help him not feel so lonely when we went on vacation.

It’s now 2026, and he’s an old man. We’ve had to block off the stairs because he kept falling down them. I’ve noticed that he’s had difficulties getting up on the sidewalk.

And today the only time he ate was when I hand fed him pieces of watermelon bc he wouldn’t eat it otherwise.

My best friend’s dog took a similar turn before they made the choice to put her down, and my parents decided that they didn’t want him to die naturally- we want him to suffer as little as possible.

So my parents are giving him until noon tomorrow. The odds aren’t good. But I’m most likely going to be going in with my mom when we put him down.

Usually when it comes to death, I find it hard to cry. I’ve been to a few funerals and memorial services of people close to me (a close friend, grandfather, practically a grandfather figure), but I don’t remember if I cried very much or not for any of them. And those were people I knew and loved. I feel bad because I feel like I’m more devastated because I’m losing a pet. I walk him and our other dog almost every day; I make sure they have food and water; I’m the one taking care of him.

…maybe part of me thinks I should’ve said something sooner. I can’t help but worry that he’s been in pain for ages, and we’re just now realizing that it might be time to let him go.

Sorry if the formatting is off, or the sentences don’t make a lot of sense. It’s late, I’m tired, and can’t sleep.

Little sister cosplay tips

I’ve wanted to do a little sister cosplay for a while, and I’ve finally decided to look into making one, but other than the basic dress/blood, I’m not sure what to do about footwear.

I’d want to wear the cosplay to a convention eventually, so I can’t run around with my bare feet. So if anyone has cosplayed a little sister…what did you guys do for the footwear?

I don’t dislike infinite as much as I thought

What the title says; I started a new game of Infinite because I told my friend about the animatronic George Washington you had to fight and that was the last straw for him to ask about it.

So I’ve been playing it again so he could watch it (we’ve been doing this thing where we meet up and take turns playing a game together; where I’d play one chapter of a game and he’d play another. I’m gonna see if he wants to play certain sections of infinite).

He considers infinite to be incredibly terrifying; much more so than rapture bc there are regular people while stuff is going on, and when the sky turned red at the beginning he was quick to understand why that section was one that initially scared me so badly.

Anyway, about what the title said; I did not enjoy infinite that much the first time I played it. It was fine but not great compared to Bioshock 2 or 1.

But this time around I’m actually enjoying the replay of the game a lot more than I enjoyed the first play through I did. Maybe it’s cause I already know?

It is incredibly amusing to know about the plot twists I haven’t told him about; cause I’ve told him about at least some of them.

All in all, I’m having more fun than I thought I would, but I still wish that infinite didn’t deal with tears
