what’s with this 3am nonsense

I would see this creator’s video’s on my YT (wondering wheels) a few years ago and they were pretty normal. Now every single one is about waking up at an absurd time and cooking from scratch and rubbing her husband’s feet.

The clocks are always conveniently hidden and highly doubt it’s at that time and it all feels so fake. Most likely filmed the night before.

Are these videos popular? Are they rage bait? What is happening I feel like I’m being punkd watching this

Does the type of sugar matter? Honey vs maple syrup vs white sugar?

I am choosing to do no added sugar with my 1 year old until she’s 2, but I’m realizing I don’t know where to draw the line and want to make an evidence based decision vs going off vibes.

Is there a health difference in using honey or maple syrup as a sweetener vs refined white sugar?

Would the ‘sugar free’ until 2 recommendations include all natural sweeteners like honey and maple syrup?

Real life application would be homemade muffins with maple syrup in the batch.

Is fluorosis common or is Reddit messing with my head

Mom to a 12 month old. I use small smear/rice grain of fluoride toothpaste. To my understanding, our city water does not add fluoride, only has naturally occurring (.1 ppm). She was on formula her whole life with bottles made by our city water.

Reddit makes me think fluorosis is common but idk if I’m just in an echo chamber.

So I’m curious, if you see patients with fluorosis, is there usually an identifiable cause such as fluoride added in the water supply, unsupervised brushing as a kid, etc.

Or will I really just continue down this path of worry for the next 7-8 years and hope my child doesn’t get it?

I used fluoride toothpaste my entire life, lived in the same town I’m raising my kid in, and had dentist fluoride treatments as a kid, and have great teeth but the internet is freaking me out with all this fluorosis.

Just curious to know your experience

10 minute easy and nutritious meal - one pot

My LO’s favorite meal is this quick 10 minute one pot orzo.

- 1 cup orzo
- 2 cups bone broth

simmer until orzo is cooked

Then I add a handful of spinach, some tomato sauce, any other vegetables, and I finish it with coconut milk or dairy free cream to thicken it up (baby has MSPI but you can sub any cream!)

I need to either make this Mac and cheese at home or buy a flight to Texas

Maybe slightly irrational, but I love this very specific Mac and cheese from Terry Black’s in Austin. It’s the most unique Mac and cheese I’ve had. It has an almost plastic texture but in the best way possible, I swear. It isn’t curdled, it isn’t grainy, it’s perfectly smooth and the noodles stay firm. It’s honestly perfection. People buy it in buckets.

I’ve tried recreating it, but i really don’t think it’s roux based or anything like a normal Mac and cheese recipe. There has to be 1 or 2 special ingredients.

Maybe it’s evaporated milk? Easy melt cheese?

If anybody can point me in a direction so I don’t have to travel to Austin to eat this every time I crave it…I’d be grateful.

Edit: I’ve already scoured the internet and made so many copycat recipes, thus me coming here. Most online recipes on this are AI slop or not even close.

Edit 2: I checked out gold belly from the comments and it has some of the ingredients listed! It says Mac & Cheese – Milk, Sugar, Flour, Seasoning Salt, Soy Oil.

being a mother is such an honor

as I cuddled my almost 1 year old today before her nap, I kissed her perfect little cheeks and traced her face as we locked eyes. This first year was brutal, but as I reflected on it I said to her ‘I would do it all over again for you.’ I truly mean it.

I can’t change the world. I can’t protect her from everything, but I can provide my daughter a beautiful, loving, and stable home.

I hope she grows up knowing how deeply loved she is.

my colic baby is the happiest 10 month old I’ve ever seen

She screamed 23 hours a day, vomited constantly and wouldn’t sleep unless upright.

Today she belly laughed for probably an hour during her wake windows. Nonstop giggles and smiles. Oh and she sleeps 11hrs straight at night.

I feel like somebody swapped my baby.

Hang in there mamas!! YOU CAN DO IT!

How do you mentally deal with the accidents and bumps/bruises of childhood?

Baby is 10mo learning to stand and walk. Sooo many bumps and bruises despite my best efforts. My nieces and nephews who are 3-12yrs constantly have battle wounds too from scooters, bikes, or just tripping on their own two feet. I recognize it’s not just babyhood and something that will last forever. (Kids getting their own license? Scary lol)

I’m mentally struggling with not being able to prevent every injury or protect my kid.

I’m in therapy so it helps, but I really need to hear from other moms on how they cope.

The guilt is so bad! I kick myself for not being there in time to save her from every bonk or injury and I’m just getting started.

What are we using for pest control?

Summer for us = cockroaches. Outside I seriously could care less, but having found 2 alive in our kitchen this week with a crawling baby….I gotta figure this out.

Spray outside, bait inside?

Diatomaceous earth outside?

I hear having cockroaches is worse than using pesticides but I am having a hard time finding much info at all.

Drop what you’re using!

Edit: They are American cockroaches 🪳

Pinworms in infant

Looking for research on effects of Pyrantel pamoate in infant under 12 months.

10 month old infant got pinworms this month. We are doing strict sanitation measures now because OTC Pyrantel pamoate is not for infants under 2. One doctor said they felt comfortable with baby taking it since it’s weight based. Other doctor said not until 12 months old. Tough to decide with conflicting information from medical professionals.

It’s hard to eradicate them without medication but we are doing all we can (showering morning/night, new linens and pjs daily, hand washing). All adults took the meds already.

Pharmacy and doctor weren’t able to provide much information at all and my research is coming up pretty empty.

The daycare menu from this morning has me soooo curious now about what we are feeding our babies around the world.

I was raised on Lucky Charms & pb&j’s and now I absolutely love cooking whole foods for my baby and trying new creative recipes.

What foods do you typically make for your kids in a day?
