Operation Bluestar and the Civilians Casualities

I was reading about Operation Bluestar, and one thing that I could not understand was why more effort wasn't made to reduce the number of civilians who were still inside the Golden Temple before the army started its operation.

As per the Wikipedia entry, the civilian casualties were at least 4,000-5,000, but I am not sure if we will ever know for sure the exact number.

Though the actual military Operation began on the morning of 04-Jun-1984 there was firing into various buildings of and near the temple complex to assess the training of the supporters of Bhindranwale that was undertaken by the CRPF. This itself was a clue to Bhindranwale and his supporters that Operations could start any day, so there was no element of surprise which could prevented the civilian evacuation or kept the area beyond the limits of civilians

On 02-Jun-1984 the army soldiers began taking control of the city of Amritsar, more escalations and it was now clear that the Operation was imminent.

But even on 03-Jun-1984, the day before the operation started, there were at least thousands of pilgrims still inside the temple who had no warning of what was about to happen.

I know the Army had some initial thought that Bhindranwale and his supporters would surrender and would not want bloodshed and a military operation to happen inside the Golden Temple, but a young Sikh officer posing as a pilgrim was sent on 02-Jun-1984 on a recon mission to the complex. He noted defensive preparations, so it should have been clear that Bhindranwale supports will fight till the bitter end, but still no effort was made to warn or evacuate the civilians inside the temple complex.

Did the Indian Govt and the Army got it completely wrong or were the civilians mostly pilgrims, forcefully kept inside as human shields to prevent military action?

Interesting answer to the question - How did ancient India lose its massive scientific and academic edge? Was it a sudden collapse or a slow fade?

They have changed the mural at Indira Nagar MRTS station

They have changed the mural at Indira Nagar MRTS station to one featuring Ajith but look of the colour scheme it could be sponsored by Champa. I actually liked the old one which had everyday people was supposed to remove stigma against HIV AIDS.

Had a Blast watching Blast last night

Another example of what good writing can deliver. Appreciation to the Director Subash K Raj for sticking to his guns for delivering a full fledged action movie and not including unnecessary elements like a comedy track, a love angle and message for the society. There are some generic elements like corporate villian and an endless stream of bad guys to beat up but that did not affect overall feel of the movie too much. I thought they could have kept the John Kokken character hidden and revealed him at the end. This perhaps could have opened possibility to a sequel with Arjun and his Sister's back story added. May be they can still do it.

Travelled in a old AC coach recently definitely not the comfortable ride but felt nostalgic.

Missing these old popup reading lights. I think they have done away with these fans in AC coaches. They definitely should bring back these foldable side tables.

Rajesh Exports website has a tab dedicated to Gold

Just had a look at the website of Rajesh Exports after all this news about the company. Strangely, they have a tab dedicated to Gold. I know they are supposed to be in the gold refining business but why would a professional managed and run company would design a website like this.

Abhirami looks too young to play mother roles, atleast it was not your typical mother role

Inronically, her career as a leading actoress never really took off due to being branded as too mature looking and getting paired with slighly older heroes with only Virumandi being the one good movie that I can remember. There was also some gossip linking her with GVM which affected her personal life and career. Hope Blast is a good start to her comeback.
