Finally went to the motherland
Being Japanese American (4th generation) this was honestly such a special experience for me. My great grandparents came from the Hiroshima area in the early 1900’s. My grandparents faced racism and had many family members interned in the camps during ww2, and my grandfather fought on the US side in the 442nd infantry. They didn’t teach their kids Japanese in an attempt to assimilate. I grew up with alot of the culture (food, temple, etc) but never really had a huge grasp on it. I finally got to visit Japan with my wife and two daughters and have been back for a couple days. Honestly fell in love and miss it already. I encourage any Asian Americans who havent, to visit the place of their ancestors. It was amazing.
