Disneyland Paris will have their space returned to its original version starting in 2027 and soundtrack. This news made me break into tears as if someone died as I’m autistic af.
As well as a meme I made last d23 about it
I talked to a cast member about how they ran out of everything at the mickeys of Glendale pin store, and they told me that nearly everyone who was in line got several of EVERY pin. There should really be a limit of how many pins you can purchase at once, not just the limit on per type but in total.
Spending several grand to resell is so messed up. You should only be able to get the pins you are interested in, not the entire selection.
I heard someone say they bought 16 grand of pins and the queue stopped at group 8

LIKE BRUH. YOU TOLD ALL THE GP ITS CALLED A VERTICAL LIFT, NOW THEY WILL THINK OF THE WRONG ELEMENT. THE THOOSIES AND RIDE OPS WILL NEVER RECOVER FROM THIS SLANDER. GENUINELY NO ONE IN THE DISNEY PARKS COMMUNITY CARES ABOUT THIS INACCURACY AND ITS INFURIATING. WALT IS CHURNING IN HIS URN FOR MICKEY'S SAKE. SMH MY HEAD!
should I share this graphic to the Disney World sub as if you disregard the context from the post surrounding it, the image is pretty informative.
I feel like it can't be an Omnimover or boat ride, it could maybe be a trackless ride, but what fits the bill perfectly is the Holotile system they showcased over the past few years.
Disney's Holotile tech can move multiple objects upon it in any direction simultaneously using spinning disks at adjustable angles.
Encanto features a magical house that can change its appearance and move. One of these abilities prominently shown in the film is moving floor and wall tiles.
honestly what potential ride system wouldn't make more sense than this?
This post may age like wine or milk
if it does, I'm sorry for possibly spoiling the announcement, or for the other my guess was just too unlikely.
Context:
Beastly Kingdom was a cancelled land for Animal Kingdom, when the park was under development they had to choose between building Dinoland or Beastly Kingdom, which Dinoland was chosen. The plot of land for Beastly Kingdom opened with the park as Camp Minnie Mickey, which eventually was used for the Pandora the World of Avatar. Many Imagineers who were pushing Beastly Kingdom ended up leaving Disney and joining universal, taking part in the development of Islands of Adventure. Notably the Lost Continent land was the result of former imagineers.
The Lake Nonna move was a cancelled plan to move all of Disney's Imagineering workplaces from California to Florida, threatening termination if Imagineers did not commit to the move by moving their residences to Florida in advance. The plan to move the headquarters failed when Disney upset the state of Florida with a political matter, Disney decided to not go through when the state started to be heavily against them. This left numerous long standing Imagineers who already made the move to Florida unable to work in Imagineering which now remained in California. Many of these Imagineers ended up leaving Disney and moving on to other occupations, some of which fled to Universal and helped work on Epic Universe.
I thought it would be funny to combine all of the different versions of space mountain into one title.
Versions included:
Rockin’ Space Mountain (Disneyland overlay during Rockin’ both parks)
Hyperspace Mountain (Disneyland Paris permanent overlay, Hong Kong Disneyland retheme, and Disneyland seasonal overlay)
Deep Space Mountain (Walt Disney World, Halloween overlay during seasonal events)
Rock It Mountain (cancelled alternate version of space mountain that would only run at night and play rock music, kind of like how guardians of the galaxy mission breakout runs its monsters after dark overlay only past dusk)
Space Mountain Holiday Run (Walt Disney World Christmas seasonal event overlay)
Space Mountain: Mission 2 (Disneyland Paris 2nd version of their Space Mountain)
Space Mountain: de la Terre à la Lune (Disneyland Paris original version of their Space Mountain)
Space Mountain: Ghost Galaxy (discontinued Halloween overlay at both Hong Kong Disneyland and Disneyland)
Space Mountain: Nightmare Nebula (test run and precursor of a Halloween overlay for Disneylands space mountain that was during cast exclusive event)
Keep in mind a few of these I could not find an official logo so I improvised.
Let me know if I somehow left out any obscure versions.
I really cant seem to find any decent footage of the effect on the seasonal overlay that showcases the sparks-like projection on the elevator shaft walls of the "brakes" activating and sparking near the very end of the drop sequence. it looks like it happens during the final drop on the left and right walls but its not present in some videos. Does anyone have or know of decent footage of the effect working?
At least that's what I assume its trying to portray I cant see it well on video and I haven't been on the overlay version, only the normal version of the ride
here is the only footage i can find of the effect https://youtu.be/drYDi6tmdSk?&t=123
Currently city tiles have slots for pois to spawn, but why not use that tech to have pois with differing interiors or layouts using that tech.
I have two different ideas for how it could be used
first is a frame method, where a poi has the same starting and ending location but an intermediate section (or even multiple sections) can be chosen from a list of premade sections. this could be used for a variety of things, obvious examples being a strip mall where a few stores could be different every time, or a skyscraper where a grouping of 3 floors could be chosen to better hide the seam. it could also be as minimal as individual hotel rooms being different.
the second concept is an extreme of it, where an entire building could be comprised of different segments, with multiple possible starting segments and ending segments, all segments being in the same spot, but each segment of course having a different location within for an ending room and a starting room.
I feel like this is the next step to reducing the repetitiveness of visiting the same poi again, and should be faster to add variety than making entire pois, or having to make variants of existing pois to get the same effect.
let me know what you guys think
(ive been trying to say this in the dev streams for a few years but i missed the latest one when it was live)
I found out about the exposed metal girders holding up the front facade a few years ago while exploring in google earth. However I never could find a decent image of it.
Luckily on my trip a few weeks ago I had the best possible hotel room to see it from so I snapped a photo of it.
Did you guys know about this studio style flat?
I recently visited DLP as well as TDR and I noticed there was a severe lack of merch based on the parks, sold at the parks. I’ve also noticed this was the case at my local resort, Disneyland.
As an example I couldn’t find a single shirt for any attraction at either resort beyond two for phantom manor and one for temple of peril. Tokyo Disney had a decent selection of tomica cars and gachapon toys but nothing really beyond those. Not even a tower of terror shirt which I braved to go on it just to earn one.
It is really frustrating to travel so far and not be able to find much at all that represents the destination. I am so tired of the same generic Disney merch at every store in the parks.
I feel like this issue has only increased in severity since the Disney stores in malls and shopping centers closed down. This likely forced the generic merch into the parks.
If there is parks based merch it is essentially exclusive to haunted mansion or pirates. Any other attractions seem to only get merch via Disneyana models or hallmark ornaments.
I am going to be going to WDW this week and I’ve heard the merch situation is comparably worse, where regardless of which land you are in it’s the same generic selection, except for a few specialized lands. if there is unique merch it’s almost always based on the IP the nearby ride is based on, not ever the attraction itself.
Once a coaster hits a certain age Disney tends to retrack it and also update the effects, what coasters do you think could be next for retracking, or if they will be removed before they need a retrack?
Here are the coasters that got retracked that I do know of:
Space mountain (Disneyland) opened 1977 retracked 2005
Incredicoaster (DCA) opened 2001, loop retracked in 2018 & 2024
Big thunder mountain railroad (Disneyland) opened 1979, retracked 2013
Big thunder mountain railroad (MK) opened 1980, retracked 2026
Are there any I missed?

The new scenes have such tight clearances compared to the old route that it is kind of comical how the rest of the ship just doesn't exist while piloting, it is only the cockpit.
It's completely understandable why its not part of your hitbox, most pilots, especially kids cant tell if they're just countering their own movements. That the joystick control could be inverted from the direction they intend on going.
I think I found all of them, there seems to be a few other micro builds but they aren't parks related, one is the UP house set, steamboat willie and I think a Rapunzel's tower build
It is odd they seem to have chosen two attractions from WDW in a Disneyland based set
