Morning countdown announcements

Okay idk if I’m just getting old or it’s my ADHD or what, but I can’t for the life of me figure out how to do this. I’m trying to create a routine that will make an announcement at specific times in the morning warning my kids that they have 30, then 15, then 10, then 5 minutes to be ready to go. I want it to play on about half the echos in the house without creating a permanent group that I’ll then have to take apart for the rest of the day and put back together every morning. Can anybody ELI5 this for me? And I mean like a REALLY slow 5yo, not one of the clever ones.

Tallit without atarah for a bat mitzvah

My daughter and I want to embroider the atarah for her bat mitzvah tallit together, but most of the tallitot I can find without one are like the really basic Chabad or Sephardic beige ones. Does anyone know where I can buy a pretty one for a young girl without it?

Hear Me Out: Hades casting edition

Look, I have no idea if Shaggy is as problematic as Geno and Gary and the other Really Bad Dudes (tm) that they’ve been casting, but having been suddenly inundated with this video in my fyp this week, I think it’s at least worth investigating.

Protecting heads near driveways

So I’ve got this head right at the edge of the lawn and as you can see it keeps getting run over. I think it’s now leaking below the surface, as the rest of my lawn is not so swampy. I’m replacing all my Orbit heads anyway, so is there anything I (a basic DIY homeowner with YouTube and some innate handiness but not quite ready to start cutting PVC to relocate the head just yet) can do? I’d rather not put rocks along the edge of the driveway either, but I will if I have to. I guess I’m asking if there’s a type of head that can withstand getting run over when it’s down.

How to kindergarten mom

Okay I fully realize this post is just me managing my ADHD/anxiety/insecurities by trying to control the little things, but I feel like a robot in a skin suit rn and I need some advice. I haven’t had a kid in brick and mortar school in seven years, as my first kid was halfway through kindergarten when Covid hit and we’ve been homeschooling ever since, which has worked great for my older two. My third kid has decided she wants to try regular kindergarten, so we are ramping up to that in three weeks. I have very distinct and cringey memories of my oldest starting kindergarten and me not knowing all of the “mom things” that all the other kids got. Like WDYM I’m supposed to be putting little encouraging love notes in her lunchbox? My mom was absolutely not that kind of mom, and I know it’s not necessary, but I also really want to be that mom. So please hit me with all of your June Cleaver advice for how to send a kid off to kindergarten who has never been away from me for more than 3 hours at a time for a very forest school/ Waldorfy preschool twice a week. She’s fine with like hanging up her backpack and opening her lunchbox, and she can read, so it’s not her skills I’m worried about, it’s me feeling like I have no idea what I’m doing and not wanting her to feel like she’s just been kicked out of the nest.

EDIT: I realize my use of the word anxiety is misleading some people. I’m not anxious about her going to kindergarten; I’m not going to cry at drop off and traumatize her. I’m worried about the fact that I was a total weirdo who didn’t have any friends in school in part because my mom didn’t participate in the community so I didn’t fit in at all.

Mixing head types (be cool)

So I’m gradually taking over irrigation management in my yard from our landscapers because they charge me big extra to repair anything and I just discovered they’ve been replacing Rainbird 4025A heads with Orbits whenever they break, which even I know is BS. Now obviously my lawn is having issues despite the fact that those huge dry spots are technically being watered. Should I bite the bullet now and re-replace all the Orbits they put in with Rainbirds, or just adjust what’s in the bad areas? I read that it’s bad to mix rotor with standard spray heads but I don’t quite get why. FWIW we have monster water pressure that routinely blows apart our drip irrigation, so that’s not an issue.

Snake gaiters?

Is there anywhere reasonably local to purchase snake gaiters? I am starting to do some landscaping and will be needing to work in some knee-high brush. Thanks!

Worst time to increase your dose?

💫💫THIS IS MEANT TO BE LIGHTHEARTED KEEP IT COOL💫💫

Inspired by my realization that I’m going to be going from 0.44 to 0.88 tomorrow right before I get in the car to drive to Disneyland, what’s the worst time you can think of to increase your dose?

GE washer knob fell off and part went inside the panel

Last night my GE washer temp control knob (see terrible fat thumbed red arrow on stock photo) came off in my hand and the little spindle that presumably attaches it to the actual temp control mechanism fell inside the hollow panel. I peeked in the hole where the knob was with a flashlight but couldn’t see anything. The internet has been unhelpful as to how to remove the panel cover and retrieve the piece to put it back together. What do?
