Truly a steal deal?

I bought this HMT Janata for just ₹390. It has a genuine HMT movement, but it was in pretty rough condition when I got it. I serviced and polished it myself at home. The dial appears to be an aftermarket replacement and has "REPLACE" printed on it, although a good friend of mine believes it's actually an original HMT factory replacement dial. The caseback also looks slightly different from the ones usually seen on HMT Janatas.

Considering the price I paid and the work I put into restoring it, would you say I got a good deal, or did I get scammed?

Chapter: Solo

Lately, life has felt overwhelming ! academic pressure, family issues, and constant thoughts about my career. It all became a little too much.

So I decided to take a break, slow down, and hit pause on my fast-moving life for a while. Sometimes, all you need is a little time with yourself.

And that's exactly why I went on a solo trip to Axis Mall, for the very first time. It may not be a grand destination, but it was exactly the escape I needed.

Alive again

I stopped by my local watch shop the other day to get a new strap. While I was there, I noticed this watch sitting on the shelf and couldn't resist asking about it. To my surprise, the shopkeeper told me it was a brand-new NOS (New Old Stock) piece, with only a tiny scratch on the outer dial from years of storage (yes right now it has a couple of scratches on the crystal as I have been wearing it to my school for 10 days straight). He asked ₹400 for the watch, ₹120 for a new battery, and ₹200 for a new stainless-steel mesh strap, bringing the total to ₹720. Do you think it was a good deal?

Weekend hunt.

I stopped by an old watch shop near my house and found these watches. I bought all of them for only ₹800. Was it a good deal, or did I overpaid !?.

Wearing the years well

This is my late grandpa's HMT sundar, which

was passed down to me after his dismissal

back in 2019. 11 years old me back then

thought that it's a piece of junk (I used to

love my baby G's) and with negligence, I had

stored it in a box. Fast forward to 2024 when

analog and vintage watches started growing

onto me, I took it out of the box, serviced

the movement and decided to keep it as it is,

afterall this carries my grandpa's legacy in

it.
