I found a ziplock of marinating chicken in my front yard

I look outside today and see this bag, now I haven’t opened it but from the looks it seems like marinating chicken. I have a gate in the front of my house so for anything to be found in the front yard is weird especially a Ziploc bag full of chicken. What is stressing me out is that if it is a ziplock bag full of chicken that would mean that the person had plans and regulations and duties for this chicken. That’s also a responsible person task is to marinate chicken so why would it end up in my front yard? It honestly has derailed my whole day.

The fall

I really think all that needs to happen is a stronger structure. Like if they did a setup where they actually interviewed people , or something I really don’t know damn it but just hearing them yap about whatever and start a convo and get side tracked because enya is blootered and can’t remember her story gets to a point 🫩 maybe I’m just too old to enjoy the yap now

Looking for a “cool” movie

I know it’s extremely subjective and meat headish request but I really want to watch some cool movies that are well done. For context some movies I think are cool are the royal tenenbaums , requiem for a dream , Goodtime , the fly , young Frankenstein.

Maybe cool isn’t the right word it might be just stylish and great story telling

What’s a movie you recommend to everyone but would never watch again?

For me one the first one that comes to mind is incendies , it’s just heavy I can’t get my self to watch it again but I recommend it to everybody. 80% call me and cuss me out for giving no warning lol. Another is Love Exposure, I adore that movie but I’m not doing that 4 hour run time again.

What’s the Most Visually Beautiful Black & White Film You’ve Ever Seen?

I watched The Night of the Hunter last night and it was so beautiful. It has me wanting to explore chiaroscuro lighting more.

My honorable mentions for B&W beauty are High Noon and La Haine.

What are some you found stunning?

Cure (1997) budget was 20k and Obsession (2026) was 750k

I’m probably late to this, but I just found out that Cure had a budget of only $20,000, and I’m genuinely blown away. It never felt lowbudget to me at all.

What makes it even crazier is that everyone talks about how low-budget Obsession was, yet its budget was 37 times larger. Even accounting for inflation, that’s still roughly 18 times Cure’s budget.

It honestly makes me wonder: what are filmmakers spending so much money on if a film like Cure can be made for $20,000 and still look and feel that good?

Which takes more talent: a great writer/director or a great actor?

I’m specifically thinking about writer/directors (not just directors working off someone else’s script). I go back and forth on this a lot. Phenomenal actors are given a character and still bring it to life, adding real depth and nuance. But the writer/director is the one who created that character and world from nothing. At the same time, if the actor sucks it makes the movie hard to watch no matter how great the director is. What do you think?

What newer movies do you already consider modern classics?

For me, Poor Things is one that feels special. The cinematography is absolutely stunning and refreshing, Mark Ruffalo is hilariously unhinged, Emma Stone delivers an incredible performance, and the costumes/production design is out of here. I’ve seen it multiple times and it still impresses me every watch.

Another one is Hereditary. It felt like a fresh take on horror that I hadn’t really seen like it, and it has already influenced so many films that came after it with its particular brand of dread and family trauma. I haven had a horror movie shake me as hard as the last 20 minutes of Hereditary.

What are some newer movies you think have already earned “classic” status? Why do they hit that level for you?

Chocolate icecream is the worst ice cream flavor

I love chocolate but I hate chocolate icecream with a passion. It just tastes like an odd chemical with no flavor resemblance to actual ice cream. It some how tastes dry? It is one of the few popular artificial flavors that just flat out sucks.

What is the coolest foreign film you have seen?

I am getting in my foreign film bag and am curious what foreign film you just found utterly cool? The coolest one I’ve seen so far is Love Exposure (Japanese, directed by Sion Sono), that film just does it for me. Honorable mentions for me are of course La Haine & City Of god.

What are some of the coolest foreign films you’ve come across?

What movie do you think most accurately depicts depression?

I would say Aftersun and Manchester by the Sea depict it fairly accurately, especially the Aftersun. I feel like there has to be a bunch more that I don’t know about or haven’t seen yet.

What movies have you all seen that actually get depression right? Looking for more recommendations. Appreciate it

(OBSESSION - Curry Barker) Why does every new horror get hyped like it’s the best of all time?

Just genuinely not sure what it is about people loving to gas up a modern horror like it’s the best/scariest film ever made. The hype was overly alive for this one, and it makes sense to certain degree. I enjoyed the creepy moments, I appreciated that it didn’t do cheap jump scares, the acting was great, the atmosphere pulls you in, and it unfolds well. That’s all, though. It doesn’t feel like you are truly seeing something new or a deep scare you haven’t felt before. It does what has been done in almost every modern horror movie or “elevated” horror, but it does it well I’ll admit. But to say it’s holding a candle to hereditary (like I’ve seen many people say) is insane to me.
