graphics card red light keeps flashing even all common troubleshooting is done

my graphics card, a rog rtx3080 12gb, keeps having its middle 8pin power connector light flashing, when i check on gpu-z it does show that it’s receiving less power too (about 10w less, the other 2 connectors differ about 1-2w), my psu is 1050w and has more than enough power for my build, i do not have any daisy chaining either, all pcie power slots use an individual cable

ive done almost everything known to try fix this,
- refit the pcie power cables at the graphics card and psu, and ensured they are pressed all the way in
- reseated my graphics card
- removed my lian li graphics card pcie extensions

idk what else can i do to fix this, its not causing performance issues but knowing my pc isnt running at its best kinda tilts me

how much am i supposed to apply when using the sulfur 10% powder to cream concentrate

just bought this 3 days ago cause my gf says it works and i have a big ass blind pimple or cystic acne (i think it’s cystic) on the back of my neck

the directions say apply a small amount but a small amount can mean so many things in this context, pea sized? grain sized? please help idk if im putting too little cause i been very conservative when applying it😭 my gf doesn’t know how much is ideal either

also do i rub it between my fingers to turn it into a cream before applying, or do i rub the powder directly onto the spot? ive seen videos of people doing both

do i apply sea salt spray or pre styling tonic first

for context i have 1a hair, no waves or curls or anything just flat straight hair, im not looking to give myself waves or curls or anything crazy when styling, just some texture, volume and hold

i usually do a side part with a sea salt spray, my spray essentially provides me with volume, texture and hold, it has stronger hold that regular sprays ig, but it hardens quickly and i will need to put more if my hair isnt properly styled before it dries, which then makes my hair crispy

after my haircut 2 days ago, my barber gave me a bottle of tonic as a gift, but he told me it works like sea salt spray but when i used it alone today, the hold wasn’t as strong but it provides good texture and malleability to style my hair, just that the lack of hold will cause it to flatten after an hour or two, or less if its hot

i thought of using tonic to style then my sea salt spray to lock it in but google tells me to do the other way, which is the better way in yalls opinion

need advice for a friend from china who wishes to settle down in sg in the future

for some context, shes 18, has an A level cert from an international school in china but didn’t do so well (Cs and Bs)

she’s currently in PSB academy cause her mom practically forced her to come here, and has been here for 2 years already, she has completed a certificate and diploma in media and communications, both from PSB and is about to start her bachelors of communications in media (degree from newcastle university australia) in august

she recently has come to the realisation that psb degrees and diplomas are essentially useless in sg if she wishes to settle down here. the research her mom did back in china was inaccurate and unreliable as hell, cause back in china the people there were glazing psb like a good alternative to like peking uni, and the agent they engaged also did the same (pretty sure PSB gave the agent a hefty commission for bringing her here)

but only recently, she realised that PSB is a uni mainly for the ultra rich nepo china kids who just need a degree to their name before their parents parachute them to C-suite positions in their family businesses (no offence towards local psb students) and she unfortunately does not come from that background, but her parents are wealthy enough to support her international studies

her mom also insists that she goes for her masters too at PSB or those “express degree unis” cause she still believes that those 12 month degree unis here are actually on par with the top 100 unis, but as a friend who dont wanna see her waste her money, im trying to help her convince her mom to not go down that path

she does enjoys this communications and media field and wishes to pursue a career in it, and luckily for her, she’s still young, has good english, has A levels and a diploma from PSB. she really wishes to get out of the PSB system now and try the local options even though it might take longer

personally, i advised her to try get into a local poly since a poly diploma can get her into a local uni or intl uni that is way more recognised and can provide her with a better foundation to settle down in sg, and her parents can afford it too, but idk if that’s the best option, so would like to seek yalls advice on what she should do moving forward, thanks!

am i being a bad son for not wanting to help my mum with stuff thats should be her personal responsibility

don’t get me wrong id love to help my mum as much as possible but sometimes i think she’s just being outright lazy for her personal responsibilities and uses the “ure my son” card to guilt trip me into helping her do her stuff, shes perfectly fit and capable of doing everything herself but she just doesn’t want to at times and she thinks it entitles her to having me do it

just earlier today, she left her phone at the nearby coffee shop after dinner and only realised it when she got home. instead of running back to the coffee shop immediately to retrieve it like what most people would, she asked me to help her to go back there and look for it and as usual she played the “ure my son u can just help ur mum right” card but i didnt fall for it and told her that her phone is her personal responsibility and she should be accountable for it. she was not rushing to do anything and was just gonna doomscroll facebook or whatever till she sleeps anyway

apart from that, she also frequently asks me to do her chores, in our household we all take responsibility for cleaning our own spaces like bedroom, toilet and furniture etc, she was the one that proposed that arrangement too. she will frequently ask me to clean her ceiling fan, vacuum and mop her room, instead of asking my sister whom she shares the room with, when i question why she doesn’t ask my sister, she plays the ure my son card again and says my sister doesnt do it as well as i do, like just cause she sucks at cleaning her own space means i have to do it? if u suck at math does it entitle u to someone helping do ur math exam? if its an occasional thing and she helps me back, id be fine with it, but she expects me to help her outright just because im her son which is lowk pissing me off

tbh its starting to feel like shes throwing her adult responsibilities to me since im capable of doing them now that im older and she wants to be a “kid” who wants to just 吃喝玩乐. i dont mind helping her out if she helps back occasionally, but not once has she helped me back, it doesnt have to be 50/50 since we are all living under the same roof but i feel that she shouldnt expect me to do things for her that are her personal responsibility like keeping her area clean for her just cause im her son

EDIT: it appears that everyone think shes some 70-80 year old lady who has health problems or some shit🤣 my mum is 50, plays badminton often, can queue at popmart for hours so shes perfectly fit to do everything that she asks me to do. i do understand that people get lazy from time to time but laziness is not an excuse to get people to do ur stuff, if i’m lazy to go to work can i ask my mum to go to work for me? obv not since my job is my personal responsibility, like how her cleaning up her own room that she sleeps in is her personal responsibility too

is the economy really that bad rn?

i just ORDed and am tryna find part time flexi jobs to do before university starts

every job ad is literally a clickbait now, they will say part time on the title, but in the details or description, it will say that the job pays u by the hour but u must commit to full time hours which is practically a full time job and they want minimum commitment of like 6 months for the full time hours, which basically makes it not even a part time job anymore, its a full time job disguised as a part time job

one recruiter personally told me that companies do that as a job ad showing $2500 monthly salary for a full time job is not appealing, but a job ad showing $12-15/hour part time job but full time hours will make a lot people apply, even though the monthly salary amounts to around $2xxx if u calculate the hours

and because u are a part time employee by contract, the company dont need to provide u full time benefits and stuff even though u work full time hours which is kind of a dick move

the only true flexible part time jobs are the absolute dogshit banquet jobs which require u to report 1 hour ahead of time UNPAID and expect u to have a $200 formal outfit for the job like wtf the economy really cant be that bad right i still see people going europe holiday every now and then

end grain teak board came with a crack, got a free replacement one incoming, asking for advice on what should i do with the old one

the board came with 2 little holes that run through the whole thickness, the seller just sent me a replacement one free of charge

now what should i do with the damaged one, can i fill the hole with something to make it whole? or can i just use the board as it is or will the gap trap moisture and cultivate bacteria

should i oil or wash my new end grain cutting board first

i just got my first end grain teak cutting board, inside the packaging there is a care guide and it told me to give the cutting board a good wash and apply a layer of oil before usage.

ive read that moisture may make the board crack or split, but since my board is not pre oiled or pre coated, i should wash it first to remove debris and dust which is what is conflicting my mind. will washing a brand new board without any oil coating cause cracks or splits already?

i live in a really humid place (80%+ RH) so should i wash my board first then oil it thickly with lots of mineral oil, or let it soak up lots of mineral oil first before washing it

what do those people who message u on instagram/linkedin/facebook to join their team exactly do?

as per title, i get dms on instagram and linkedin from time to time from people asking me to join their team or reach out to them if i am looking for an opportunity, they always tend to have the following 3 aspects:

  1. fresh/recent poly/uni grad (at most 3 years)
  2. from a sales team of some small company or startup, but their company name and website does not suggest what exactly they are selling or even the industry they sell in
  3. will contact you right after u connect with them or accept their follow request, which shows they are kinda

they are also somehow always having company events at upscale places, both local and abroad, which makes me wonder what do they exactly do and why are they always recruiting or finding people to join them. my guess is some sort of MLM but due to their company website basically having no info about their business, i cant make a good guess either

those who know about this, can you please give an insight to about what it is and how it works? not that i wanna join someone's team but im just really curious

▲ 9 r/SWORDS

for some context, i got this miniature samurai sword when i was in toledo, spain back 2024, it’s manufactured by a company called anframa for around 150 euros i think

based on the paper, it’s a scaled down katana made with toledo forging techniques, there’s no edge or sharpness to it cause i believe it’s supposed to be a collectible and not a weapon

can anyone here confirm if that is true? does anframa make legitimate blades with toledo forging techniques? if this is a legitimate blade im thinking of bringing it to a professional sharpener to make it sharp cause why not lol

hi all, i just got the acceptance email for SIT and i didn’t get my first choice, mechanical engineering, i was instead offered engineering systems which was my 2nd or 3rd choice i cant really remember

i was interviewed for mechanical engineering but not engineering systems but i somehow got an engineering systems offer

im really more interested in doing mechanical engineering instead of engineering systems, will i be able accept this offer first and then appeal for my first choice programme when the appeals open?
