Hero 5 vs 6 vs 7 for Texas heat — no hypersmooth needed, just want it to not shut off

Looking at picking up a used Hero5, 6, or 7 Black off Facebook Marketplace for some outdoor recording here in Texas. Don't care about HyperSmooth or fancy stabilization, just want something that'll keep recording in our summer heat without shutting down every 15 min.

For reference, my current setup is a Hero9 where I pull the battery and run it on external power to help with heat — works okay but curious if 5/6/7 would handle it even better stock.

Which of the three handles heat best in your experience? And what's the max SD card size each one actually supports? Trying to figure out what to look for before I buy.

Thanks in advance.

Does Blink Outdoor record in vertical/portrait mode?

Shooting wildlife content for Shorts/TT and currently using a GoPro in portrait mode for all my clips. Thinking about adding a Blink Outdoor camera so I can leave it running unattended outside, but I can't find a clear answer anywhere — does it actually record natively in vertical/portrait orientation, or is it locked to landscape like most security cameras?

If anyone's actually tested this or knows for sure, I'd really appreciate the info. Trying to decide before I buy one. Thanks!

Anyone know if Blink Outdoor can shoot vertical/portrait video?

So I've been using a GoPro for portrait-mode wildlife shots (birds, squirrels, that kind of thing) for my TikTok/Reels/Shorts content, but I want something I can just leave outside 24/7 without babysitting the battery or worrying about rain.

Blink Outdoor keeps coming up as the obvious pick but I can't tell if it actually records in portrait, or if it's locked to the usual landscape security-cam format.

If anyone's actually used one for this:

Is it landscape only, or does it do vertical?

If it's landscape, is cropping it down to 9:16 afterward actually usable or does it look like garbage?

How's the image quality up close on small stuff like birds — daytime and at night with IR on?

Does the motion trigger lag at all? I've missed shots before because a cam took a second too long to kick on.

Basically trying to figure out if this thing can replace my GoPro setup or if I'm better off looking elsewhere. Any real experience appreciated, thanks.

Looking for Trial Cam which records in portrait mode for social media posting

Most of the trial cam records in horizontal format which is best suited for TV format. I am looking for a cam which can record in portrait for social media posting. Please recommend which are best suited for this type of video recording.

H4 extension still pending after H1B extension got approved — how long did yours take?

Quick timeline for context — filed both the H1B and H4 extensions in regular processing at the Texas Service Center on Sept 17, 2025. Things were moving super slow so we upgraded to premium on April 30, 2026. My H1B was approved on May 14, 2026, which is great. But the H4 applications are still sitting there, no movement at all.

From what I understand H4 doesn't qualify for premium processing itself, so I get that it won't have the 15-day guarantee. But I'm wondering — is it normal for there to be this kind of gap? Has anyone been through this recently? Did yours get approved a few weeks later or did it take months?

Meta permanently disabled my Facebook account and banned my WhatsApp — planning to file Small Claims Court on Monday. Has anyone done this successfully?

US based here and I'm in a really frustrating situation with Meta and looking for advice from anyone who's been through something similar.

Here's what happened:

My WhatsApp got flagged with "This account violates WhatsApp's age requirement." I have a minor child's account linked to mine and I believe that's what triggered their AI. I'm an adult and never violated any terms.

WhatsApp then showed me a "Go to Facebook" button to verify my age. I clicked it and instead of verifying me, Facebook suspended my account. When I tried to complete the verification, my Facebook account — which is over 16 years old — got permanently disabled within minutes. Clearly an automated decision with zero human review.

So right now I have:

  • ❌ WhatsApp banned due to a false age flag triggered by my minor child's linked account
  • ❌ Facebook permanently disabled — directly caused by following WhatsApp's own instructions

I've exhausted every appeal option. Both denials came back within minutes — clearly no human ever looked at my case.

I'm planning to file in Small Claims Court on Monday against Meta. Has anyone here done this? What was your experience? Did it actually get Meta's attention or result in a resolution? Any advice on what to include in the filing would be really helpful.

WhatsApp banned me for "age requirement violation" and now my Facebook is permanently disabled too — US user, need help

US based here with a US number. This has been a nightmare and I'm hoping someone has been through something similar.

Today I opened WhatsApp and got hit with this message out of nowhere:

"This account violates WhatsApp's age requirement"

I'm a grown adult. Never had any warnings, never violated any terms. I only use WhatsApp for personal communication. Completely blindsided.

So WhatsApp shows me a "Go to Facebook" button to verify my age. I click it thinking this will sort things out. Instead, Facebook suspends my account almost immediately. I try to complete the verification to save my Facebook account and boom — permanently disabled. 16 year old Facebook account. Gone.

So now I'm sitting here with:

  • ❌ WhatsApp banned (age violation — completely false)
  • ❌ Facebook permanently disabled (happened directly because I followed WhatsApp's own instructions)

I've already tried:

  • Emailing support@whatsapp.com
  • Submitting through the WhatsApp grievance form
  • Facebook appeal (denied within minutes — clearly automated)

Has anyone recovered from something like this? Especially the WhatsApp age ban — what actually worked for you? Any US-specific channels I'm missing?

How many YouTube Shorts per day is optimal for a new nature channel? Getting great early numbers but don't want to hurt the algorithm

Hey everyone!

Just launched a nature/wildlife channel posting short 15-30 second clips of birds, crows, squirrels and backyard wildlife from a daily outdoor feeding routine.

Early numbers after less than a week:

📊 8.1K views

⏱️ 13.5 hours watch time

👥 13 subscribers

🔥 Top video at 1.9K views

💥 Latest video hit 650 views in 3 hours

All organic, zero promotion.

My question — how many Shorts per day is the sweet spot without hurting the algorithm or cannibalizing my own views?

Worried about over-posting splitting impressions or triggering suppression. Have around 20-30 clips ready to go.

What worked for you? 🙏🌿
