Keloid dads

Any dads with keloids whose children also inherited them? If so, at what age did you first notice keloids on your child, or did they grow up without developing any?

Raspy voice on 10 yr old?

Our 10-year-old son has had a raspy voice since age six, and previous ENT visits using a standard camera exam have not provided answers. He is some how a mouth breather and experiences shortness of breath when crying or running.

Could this be related to teeth misalignment, voice misuse, or something else? I need to know what specific, advanced tests I should demand to get a proper diagnosis. I am looking for advice on whether to see a pediatric pulmonologist, a speech-language pathologist, or request a different type of ENT exam?

Would like to advocate foe the right testing for our baby boy.

How do you build self esteem and worth in a child?

Our child just turned 10. For the most part, he is such a good kid. He reads well, does well in school, good listener (he has his days where he acts silly) and participates in chorus (even though he doesn’t like it; we are firm and push him to stick with it). He did karate for four years and stopped after he earned his first black belt. He also played soccer and was doing well, but we decided to stop it because we didn't see any interest or eagerness when it was soccer day, so we decided to give him a break(which he is happy). He is currently doing swimming and piano, both of which he now wishes to stop. 😐

We are super confused as to what he actually wants to do for activities. He doesn’t ride a bike or a scooter, even though his friends do. He often thinks he is incapable of doing things, and we have to encourage him or he quits easily-even opening a can feels like a hard job for him. He will try something once and quit immediately.

I feel like we might have made him this way because we raised him as an only child for seven years and unconsciously "coddled" him. Now that he has a 4yo sister who is his opposite in everything, she is independent, a daredevil, and surprises us with her efforts to solve problems by herself, the contrast is even more apparent. She has an interest in trying everything, whereas our boy thinks he can't do things.

We are gentle parents who encourage our kids, speak positively, and make sure they see us practicing self-confidence. Yet, I don't know what we did wrong. I keep telling him that he is stronger and more capable than he thinks, and I want to help him build his self-esteem, but he often expresses self-doubt and says he "doesn't know why."

How do we help our son? For those of you who raised a child like this, how are they doing now as adults? Does it get better, do they find their way out, and build better personality? Guilt is eating at me, and I can't help but think we must have done something wrong. 😫

Petition success story?

Hi Mamas

Have you ever petitioned for a teacher or principal for tdsb to changes its decision to transfer teacher/principal?

We just received a last minute email regarding our child's principal a decision to transfer 'em, and we want to do all we can to push back and tdsb reconsider its decision.

I would love to get guidance from parents who had similar experience.

Does my Kitty looks okay?

This is our precious Lucky, he is 9 weeks, and its gonna be almost a week since ee got him. He is such playful and energetic feline, but I notice he just wants to sleep, goes under our bed to sleep (may be that's his way of getting peaceful space to sleep since our 4yo pick him up every now and then), he also uses his potty well, eats, and drinks minimal water.

Worried about the lack of energy I see on him.

Boss feline 🐈

New to raising kitten, and we are loving this little guy. He has his own terms and conditions to play or sleep, and the house abides by his rules. 😆😆

Officially the soul of our home. ☺️

Sunscreen in Canada?

Fellow tret users in Canada, what are we using for sunscreen that's working for you? Especially those of you with melanin rich (medium brown) skin tones. Am using lrp anthelios 50+, and although I love its non greasy, non white cast texture, I don't think its working on my face. 😣

Been using 0.025% gel tret for about 2months now, open sandwich method 3 or 4 days a week (I don't think am seeing much of a difference except minor flakiness around my mandibular or lower chin areas). Using tret mainly for unevenness and tone texture/mild HP on my preauricular area.

PM:

Bioderma Miscellar water

Vani gentle cleanser/cetaphil gentle SA cleanser

Byoma milk toner (sometimes), tret on dry face, and apply vani moisturizer after 20 minutes.

AM:

Miscellar water

Rinse with water

Vani cream

Lrp sunscreen

I used to apply AA but pausing it now because I don't like the stingy sensation it has on my face. 😣

Thoughts?

Our soon to be 10yo tells me everything of his days, and I love that about him. Yet there is this kid (let's call him M) who our son onsider a friend, and M never invites him to his playdates while inviting other mutual friends. Yet our son always invites M to play dates at our place.

The thing is our son tells us how "mean" and "excluding" M is - yet our son strangely gravitate towards M and calls him his best buddy 🤦‍♀️. ( I ask why he consider him a friend and the answer I get is that it's because "the is funny).

Now that we are getting ready for our child's birthday, our son gave us list of friends he would want to have and this kid is included which me and my husband are not happy about, and we plan not to send the invitation out to the kid's parents.

We talk about self worth, friendship and choosing those who choose us, and make us feel seen all the time, but seems none of what we are saying makes sense to our boy. 🤣

What would you do? Would you still invite a child that makes your child sad every single day? Our son thinks am getting in his way, and he would never tell me anything about school anymore if I don't invite M. Haha! Sigh.

Are these blackheads or sebaceous?

A month in using tret am noticing these blackheads or sebaceous (not sure which they are), and how to get read of 'em? I dont remember having them and is this the effect of tret, and AA?

Routine:

AM

bioderm miscellar water

Water cleansing

Drying it for 10 to 15 minutes and use byoma milk tonner, then AA after 10 minutes followed by lrp sunscreen.

PM

miscellar water

Vani cleanser

Tonner (after 15 minutes)

tret

glycerin and vani cream to seal the hydration/moisture)

I have learned a lesson after my flakiness and am using 3 nights tret and 2 days AA and using two repair nights.

What has helped you with these blackheads on ur nose?

Open sandwiching

Anyone tried open sandwiching tret with glycerin? Been on gel tret 0.025% for two weeks with minimal routines, and experiencing kinda dryness and flakiness. This picture is taken after sunscreen during AM, and am pausing tret and AA for a while in order to figuring out what's going on: is it moisturizing or barrier dehydration issue?

Skin type : combination. Been using tret and AA every day of the week (This sounds wild...i knowww)😔

AM routine

Wash with water

Aveeno calm + restore serum (damp face)

15% AA

Vani cream

Sun bum mineral spf lotion

PM:

Vani cleansing or aveeno nourishing oat cleanser

Serum (damp face) let it dry

tret

Vani cream

Should I do open sandwich method and sealing/incorporating PM or AM routines with glycerin for better hydration? Help a sista out. 🙂

What am i doing wrong?

Two weeks on tret .025%, so far so good, with no major purge or reaction.

AM

wash with Aveeno calm+restore nourishing cleanser

Aveeno trip oats serum

AA 15%

Vani cream

Sunbum spf50 sunscreen (mineral)

PM:

Wash with Aveeno calm+restore nourishing cleanser

Aveeno triple oats serum on dry face

Tret .025%

Vani cream

Sunbum spf50 sunscreen (mineral)

I feel a mild sting caused by irritation near the corner of the lower lip. What am i doing wrong? Is it barrier issue that needs more hydration? Wondering why am having the white patch/dryness) after 1hr applying spf.

I got my 0.025 tret (to treat moderate HP, no acne issue) today and I was told to quit prior to conceiving. Those you who used it, how was the result and when did you stopped before pregnancy? Using it prior to your pregnancy affected your experience in any way? What are your advice for first time user. I also have AA 15% AND planning to use 'em every other day.

I have a friend who works as an accountant for a major firm. As the only woman of color in her office, she’s noticed a strange pattern recently: the company has been hiring many South Asian immigrants, and HR frequently asks them to perform personal errands...like picking up the GM from his physiotherapy appointments. Every time they are asked, they comply without hesitation. Interestingly, HR never asks my friend, likely because she is Canadian born, outspoken, and knows her labor rights.

This made me realize that perhaps the "immigration issue" isn't what the mainstream media portrays. What if the real problem isn't the immigrants themselves, but business owners seeking "submissive" labor? By hiring individuals who may be unfamiliar with local labor laws or are in precarious visa situations, companies can exploit them for free labor and tasks outside their job descriptions.

We need to shift the narrative: it’s not just about who is entering the country, but about who is profiting from hiring people they think won't talk back.

Anybody else feeling the same?
