Should i take a contractual/temporary job for workex or prepare for ESE

Hey there im 2025 passout civil engg from a decent IIT.

My fundamentals are good but haven't ever given gate, earlier i was doing software engineering and web3/backend development. But the job market is really messed up for tech.

Now its aug and CIL exam is near and its high time i decide how to proceed.

I have completed lectures 60-70 percent from jaspal sir.

But haven't been able to fully complete the syllabus.

My goal is to not do masters but immediately get into psu/high paying job next year. But the thing is a lot of these positions require experience and for freshers compitition is a little unpredictable.

For example there is a contractual 1 year opening at npcc gurugram and cg region should i take it and prepare at the same time. I myself being from cg need to know if ill be able to prepare with a job as i dont know the workload.

Will appreciate your responses

What should I learn after Rust and Tokio as a junior developer?

I have completed the Rust Book and worked through Tokio’s documentation/tutorials on async programming, concurrency, OS threads vs tasks, spawning, shared state, mutexes, and channels.

I understand these concepts when reading code, but I am not yet confident writing Rust projects independently.

I am a fresher with some JavaScript and web-development experience, but little to no experience with low-level or C++-style engineering. I’m more interested in backend/systems work than frontend development .

Would learning Axum and building a backend project be the right next step? For example, should I build an API with authentication, a database, background tasks, error handling, tests, and Docker—or should I first focus on other Rust areas such as ownership practice, networking, CLI tools, or algorithms?

My longer-term goal is to become capable of contributing to good open-source Rust projects, including GSoC-type projects. I am learning Rust partly for fun, but I also want a practical path toward becoming useful in the Rust ecosystem.

What would you recommend a junior Rust developer learn and build next?

What if your last company didnt have PF? Does it make it difficult to switch and what about BGV

I am a recent grad with 1 year of experience, the company i used to work for had no PF but i can get a salary slip and relieving letter. I'm concerned about the BGV. what else are they going to check. Should I inform HR even before giving an interview or should I tell them after getting selected?

Should I remove the experience because it's just 8 months. But I'm concerned because getting interviews as a fresher is tough nowadays.

Stremio Freezes on Ubuntu

I am using ubuntu 24.04 and have installed with flathub the latest version.
When I am watching something it works fine but when I pause the playback and use something else and get back to resume it the stremio gets unresposive, sometimes audio starts playing but rest everything is unresponsive. I have to kill it and reopen whole stremio.
Is there any small fix, if not then I hope you guys look into it.

Need Guidance regarding Apprenticeship

Hi everyone,

I recently applied for the Bank of Baroda Apprenticeship program and have been selected. My document verification and language proficiency test are coming up.

I'm currently preparing for government exams, and I'm also enrolled in a B.Ed. The B.Ed. doesn't require regular attendance, but I do need around 7 days per semester to appear for exams.

I'm confused about whether I should join the apprenticeship or not.

My main questions are:

  • Will I be able to get leave to appear for my B.Ed. exams or government exams?
  • Is the apprenticeship actually worth doing?
  • Will it help me in the future while applying for jobs (government or private)?
  • Is a bank apprenticeship considered valid work experience by employers?
  • Has anyone here balanced an apprenticeship with competitive exam preparation? If yes, how manageable was it?

I'd really appreciate hearing from people who have completed a Bank of Baroda (or any PSU bank) apprenticeship or have firsthand experience.
PS: I used AI for Rephrasing and fixing the grammatical errors.

What do u think about Meredith and Lindsay conversation in EP-6

There is a scene in Episode 6 where Lindsay asks Meredith about divorce and whether she is entitled to Josh's future income. I understand that she was transparently asking these questions using the name "Penelope" (the classic "asking for a friend" ploy), which obviously felt very transactional.

However, did I miss something? I felt like Meredith was already annoyed the moment she arrived at the party. It gave off the exact same vibe as the scenes in the first two episodes where Lindsay tells those women that the tennis instructor has a crush on her.

Usually, people will help out with small things even if they aren't close friends, but it felt different here. Was Meredith's reaction because Lindsay is just a club employee and not super wealthy, or is it not that deep and simply a case of Lindsay failing to respect her boundaries?

Pdf Readers with Split view

I usually solve problems using a pdf book, and the solutions and questions are on different pages, and Its a little frustating to move back and forth in those pages. I saw some solutions saying split view in adobe reader or foxit can help me view multiple pages without opening multiple windows,
but it seems they are not available for linux.
Now I am looking for an alternative which is also a bit lightweight and optimized as the pdf are 400 -500 mb each
I use ubuntu 24.10

Is this the end of affordable alternatives.

Earlier these Telegram resellers were the way one could access the classes affordably,
I get that piracy is wrong but take case of a guy who takes offline batch but after its over, lets say some of his topics are weak, then these were some reliable sources to access without paying lakhs again.
I condemn piracy, but I firmly believe quality education shouldn't be gated behind a permanent paywall for someone who already paid full price once.
I want to know is there any other way to solve these issues, like long term support from coaching after syllabus ends.
Little frustation over this because UPSC coachings are ruthless money making businesses and apart from some, they dont even have quality, People leaving their jobs to join coaching etc.
Ps: New to this sub so forgive me if I made this post and if it's against guidelines

What if i just stop paying the bills?

I am an airtel xtreme fiber postpaid user, installed it over 5 years ago as there were no other options.

Recently the service guy came for frequent disconnection complaints and he told me that my area is unserviceable and i should switch to air fiber as they wont service me as its more than 200m from their main point.

Now what im planning is to just switch to jio as its cheaper and my use case is just for cctv plus jio has good service in my area.

My bill has been generated should i just stop paying and it will be disconnected or i have to actually call them to end my subscription because its very tedious task to talk with them as they keep on convincing me to switch to a better plan or promised about air fiber etc.

TLDR: Will not paying the airtel xtreme fiber postpaid bill automatically stop my service in case i want to end or it will have repercussions?

Rushikesh dudant playlist

Hey there im planning to prepare for upsc cse but currently preparing for upsc ese/ state ae (enginering)as it will support me during my preparation for civil services from next year, for this i need to complete indian geography etc

Now i dont know much about resources available on YouTube, some teachers cover syllabus with 50 2 hr videos and some in just 8-10 hrs, i needed someone to help me find right video for indian GS currently at level of state pcs conducted exams but also such that i can use it as my base (im guessing those 40-50 hrs of lectures will be better for upsc)

Can anyone tell me if this playlist is complete and im guessing there is no optimal way of knowledge so ill always be needing multiple resources to study keeping one resource as base.

Also please suggest other lectures for basic foundation for history etc and which will be useful for state exams

Whats wrong with Gemini nowadays

https://preview.redd.it/t4kjulyapk7h1.png?width=617&format=png&auto=webp&s=46e50051c6729ab25ddbe629a47bddd9ffd80354

Gemini has been acting weird and partial to some accounts I guess,
I am a pro member but I faced some issues with this specific account that i didnt face on other accounts, like very slow response time, unable to load chat history etc,
I tried different browsers different devices , the result was same, faster response on other gmail accounts but this account takes 30-40 seconds to send prompt to server (on flash and flash lite so no, the model is not thinking).
What I think is that the gemini has divided the customers into several groups and some get better infrastructure/ faster infra and some takes toll

Anyone else finds "deep" existential conversations exhausting?

Every now and then I meet people who want to spend hours discussing things like "Who am I?", "What's the point of existence?", "Nobody is really happy", "Everyone is faking it", and similar topics.

Maybe I'm too practical, but these conversations often feel like overthinking without any useful outcome.

Sometimes I also get the impression that a lot of these discussions are more about appearing deep, seeking validation, or getting attention/engagement than genuinely exploring the questions themselves. That might be an unfair assumption on my part, though.

For people who enjoy these conversations, what do you actually get out of them? Do they lead to meaningful insights or changes in your life?

And for those who feel similarly to me, what kinds of conversations do you find more interesting or worthwhile instead?

Is it maybe because, i am anxious and i want to avoid these conversations? Maybe because i feel that ill lose my momentum and lose interest in things.

Ps: i used chatgpt for framing the question but the question itself is very original and from my personal experiences, i want to know how others think about this.

I tried using other google accounts and it works on the same browser, even I tried on different browsers like chrome and edge
same issue persists with gemini that my chats dont load and sometimes it says

> Your gemini app actvity is off and can be turned on from here
