Some questions about a contract with a small Indie publisher.

A small indie publisher just mentioned they discovered our demo on glyph, we spoke and it was a great positive conversation. They do seem credible enough given the fact that they are a little new to this world, but have worked on some pretty big titles in the past. A few questions about the contract.

  1. Should the marketing clause have specific KPIs and milestones to hold them accountable? If yes, what kind of milestones are the standard.
  2. Is it too much to ask for a Non-Compete during and after a potential exit?
  3. We were thinking of the possibility of a reasonable breakaway/buy-out clause. Just wondering about how this is usually structured.
  4. Right to First Refusal for Console Porting: ideally how many units must be sold in order for this to trigger? What is a reasonable commission from sales in this case?
  5. Are these contracts generally in perpetuity? For example is it normal to ask for say 20% of sales without a fixed expiry period?

I do apologise if its too much to ask in one question. But I tried researching everywhere about this. No luck. Any advise is much appreciated!

I need feedback on my 2 minute tutorial for my roguelike

I am a solo dev working on Glyph, which is tl;dr "Scrabble Meets Balatro". The issue is I see people going through the tutorial and they don't seem to have the attention span to read the text and understand what is being said (I think). IMO the tutorial is pretty simple, quick and covers everything. But it always takes me a few mins of a dedicated explanation session for them to understand the game. They usually love the game after that, but it I don't want this to be a barrier to entry.

Looking for feedback as to what might be wrong with it. You can play the game on playglyph.in. Any help at all is much appreciated!

Reddit and Discord are not working. How do I market my game?

Long story short, I am a solo dev that made a "Balatro meets Scrabble" roguelike. We got great feedback about the game loop and fun factor from play testers and our friends, but I am caught in the "how to create hype without promoting" problem since I am not a past contributor or active member of any reddit or discord communities. As a result, my reddit posts I feel like credibility or that "organic goo" I think some other games seem to do really well through devlogs etc. Discord game me 2 really interested people, but apart from that I got feedback that my Discord message looks like a spam bot so its simply ignored.

We have about 24 waitlists that we got I think organically in the last 2 weeks since the Steam page released. We contacts ~10 small streamers and 3 of them replied, 2 of them created videos/reviews which got a few 100 views. I have not thought about press releases or youtube shorts yet.

I think I am finally leaning towards ditching reddit/discord and trying youtube/streamers/press instead. Any advise is appreciated.
