HR tried to embarrass and fire a coworker over her busty profile picture, I argued they should be investigating a racist coworker instead, a friend of HR

So I work with this older lady, let's call her Susan. Susan originally seemed nice when we started working together and i dont remember who added who on instagram, anyway now we follow each other.

Susan and I no longer get along, lots of work instances where she is rather difficult, she hates younger people i noticed and likes to assert that she is a veteran at the company, very unpleasant lady. I was recently promoted to assistant manager and in a meeting HR and senior management were discussing social media picture of a young lady we recently hired, HR didnt like her rather busty and what they deemed was inappropriate profile picture, of her at some party, making a kind of seductive face

I thought it was ridiculous and pathetic she put her social media on a TV for everyone to see so when I spoke, I first made my argument that, first of all, i think HR should stay out of people's personal social media, and there is no mention in our policy about dresscode in social media picture. New employee sems fine, shes doing her job ok, she's just new. She can not fire her over this, there are laws against it.

And if they choose not to and decide to review socials, they should check out Susan's reposts on Instagram, and tell me what they think about firing Susan who has been here for ages. She might be unpleasant, but she's still pretty good at her job, just occasionally nasty to work with.

Lo and behold they looked at few things Susan was reposting, we work in Canada and the company is very diverse. A lot of her reposts had to do with too many Indians being in the country and some rather extreme views. I wholeheartedly disagree with her reposts, its just vile. Also one of the shareholders of the company is immigrant Punjabi

I felt bad singling out susan but if you're going to have an HR discussion about a woman posting pictures that weren't even that bad of herself, then have a discussion with Susan who thinks all Indians dont deserve to be in Canada, and is clearly racist, there is definitely something in our policy about that. Screw it, add me to the mix and see what kind of dumbass posts I was making on Facebook in highschool, and here I am, a manager. I tried looking up this HR lady in the meeting, she didnt come up. Man, I wish her dumbass profile did.

Anyway, this HR is older woman herself and not exactly easy to work with too, friends with susan but i felt it being wrong she pulled up a profile picture of a coworker on a TV in a meeting room in front of a bunch of managers, thats just cruel and if that woman found out, might have been mortified.

Senior manager sided with me, he opened his facebook to a picture of him with his family at the beach, hairy chest out and all, and said, here you can have an HR chat with me too.

Manager is now having Susans reposts reviewed by her very friend.

Screw them both, my god HR is just so useless sometimes.

AITA for bringing attention to my coworkers social media reposts that are completely unhinged?

So I work with this older lady, let's call her Susan. Susan originally seemed nice when we started working together and i dont remember who added who on instagram, anyway now we follow each other.

Susan and I no longer get along, lots of work instances where she is rather difficult, she hates younger people i noticed and likes to assert that she is a veteran at the company, very unpleasant lady. I was recently promoted to assistant manager and in a meeting HR and senior manager were discussing social media of a girl we recently hired, they didnt like her posting some rather busty and what they deemed was inappropriate pictures, of her at some parties, etc. I thought it was ridiculous so when I spoke, I first made my arguement that, first of all, HR should stay out of people's personal social media. And if they choose not to and decide to snoop, they should check out Susan's reposts on Instagram, and tell me what they think about firing Susan who has been here for ages. She might be unpleasant, but she's still decent at her job, just occasionally nasty to work with.

Lo and behold they looked at few things Susan was reposting, we work in Canada and the company is very diverse. A lot of her reposts had to do with too many Indians being in the country and conservative views, which is fine to have them, but if you're going to have an HR discussion with a woman posting pictures that weren't even that bad of herself, then have a discussion with Susan who thinks all Indians dont deserve to be in Canada.

Former landlord is suing me for decorations I installed and took with me and removed

I used to rent a unit on 1st floor that has access to a backyard in the back which I grew a garden from scratch and attended to for about 11 years and I recently moved from there and the owner sent me a bill for 'expense recovery' for removing my plants and garden beds and a bunch of decorations that I installed in that unit, that I purchased, and he doesn't want to refund me my deposit. Info: there were no garden beds before I got there it was just gravel and one grass spot. I left it how i found it if not better. Basically I made several garden beds with veggies and I made this gorgeous backyard with little trees (in pots) and this arch with leaves around it and twinkle lights. Also i installed the arches around the home so it looked like the kitchen and the window from kitchen to a living room had this arch (which i diy'd from plaster and this wood) , and I also had sticky tiles and wallpaper, all that I removed and brought to close to original condition of how the unit was rented to me. I left it clean, I patched up all the holes I made for pictures, I repainted white - how I got the unit and removed all the stickers and the glue. Wasn't hard, i always took into account i was moving out eventually, but the place looks brand new, if not better than when I got it. The back to original state took me 2 and a half weeks.

He took pictures with all my plants, paint, decorations, small details I installed and posted that place for rent before I moved out. I was moving out the rest of my stuff and new tenants came early to get measurements of the place and it was obvious they were under impression the tiles in the kitchen and bathroom, the paint, and most importantly the garden beds were part of the deal. All these I removed and I was literally just finishing up getting remaining boxes out of the place. They seemed disappointed but it was in my original agreement that I leave the place how I found it and thats why I did all the work removing it.

He never mentioned he wanted to keep the adjustments I made to that place otherwise I would have left them, it would have saved me a lot of time actually and I would have been happy to use that time to decorate my new place instead.

Instead he sent me a bill of $3000 and keeping my $1750 deposit. I replied to him i am taking him to small claims and he is doing the same. He said he was reasonable because he let me have all the decorations before and never made me remove them even though he didnt want his place altered. I dont know, am I the asshole for putting them up in the first place because he was fine with them before but now he seems salty because he lost out on a tenant. Also im not sure if he actually did the tenants just seemed unhappy the place looked bare when they saw it when they came to take the measurements

I think I got a bank manager fired.

I work for a bankruptcy company that does corporate bankruptcies. Basically when a company goes bk, the bank gets the notice and letter and they have to shut down the checking account so no more transactions can go through, and money in the account goes to the company like one I work for so they can distribute between creditors. Most banks, pretty easy process, usually happens within a week max 2 weeks, you get a check and it goes into estate if there is money in the account.

This bank manager for a whole month and a half made me jump through hoops to close this account. When I sent notice, and I realized no check hasnt come to us in 2 weeks, so I tried calling. I have ended leaving her several voicemails for days. I couldnt have left an email because this bank does not give out their emails, stupid policy when its a legal matter. When she finally called me back, she requested I send her original signed documents by the client- absolutely not, that stays with me, i sent her copies, even though the branch was included on the original notice so now she has 2 copies, and she wanted it by mail and wouldn't give me email. Then she asked for proof from the government that we are the trustee, and finally gave out a fax number, I sent it, even though a copy was sent with the original first letter. Then she asked to speak to the trustee, I told trustee all this, and he said to escalate to legal and CC him so I did, i sent an email with a ZIP of every correspondence request, call recording, and fax with date stamps that i made. I included EVERYTHING, and I was pretty pissed at the time because I was getting nowhere and nervous about upcoming transactions. Low and behold I get the check same day courrier and 6 month statements I requested and I noticed transactions have been going through so a pretty large chunk of money is missing because automatic payments came out and thats not allowed.

I called her again to work out a plan for reversing transactions, and her extension was no longer going to her voicemail, it was a generic message now, and I got a call back from some other manager that is now working with legal to reverse transactions that came out so they can remit money to us and looks like she got fired.

I feel like it went too far for her to get fired, this is fixable and vendors typically reverse transactions when there is bankruptcy, I have done it before. Also it seemed like she was trying to avoid fraud because I would also be nervous sending a pretty massive check to a third party.

Oh well.

AITAH for telling my neighbor her husband seems controlling and pointing out a bunch of red flags when we spoke alone?

I recently met a sweet woman in my building and we had a discussion about plants, I saw her picking up box in mail room from a company I also order from and then I ended up having a nice chat with her and we ended up setting a dinner with her, her husband, me and my boyfriend.

We went to a pho restaurant and her husband was honestly such a prick, he just acted miserable all evening, and was annoyed that the pho place we went for dinner to had no TV so he couldn't watch the FIFA game. We would ask him minor things to get to know him too and he was just dismissive and couldn't wait for the evening to end, at most that dinner was an hour and a half The woman seemed uncomfortable with his behavior too, we finished up, paid left, whatever, odd guy.

She came up to my apartment next day to apologize, I said she had nothing to worry about, he must have been in a bad mood, I invited her in for a fruli, and then she started telling me more things about how he is and oh my god. He is financially controlling, he doesnt want her to have a job and wants to be the 'provider'. He loads up a prepaid card for her own expenses $600 a month and expects her to use that to budget for food for both of them and anything 'she wants". Mind you, where I live, food is still pretty expensive (toronto) and my boyfriend and I spend about that much a month for both of us so she has to probably carefully budget to have anything left for herself.

They are also new to this area, that's one of the reasons we set up dinner and she seemed sweet so why not. Turns out her family is 7 hours away drive. She doesnt have a car either.

I offered her to to do a girls night and she said that shes down she will just have to deal with his behavior afterwards because he would treat her like shit after and it could be him leaving and not responding to calls for hours on end or ignoring her altogether for days and playing video games after work and basically not communicating when he comes home from work.

I told her he seemed controlling and it seems to me like financial abuse and isolation from family and friends. She did mention he has some redeeming qualities, like he can do fix it stuff around the house. He pays for phone, rent, loads up few extra hundred dollars if she needs extra spending money. I asked what's the most he reloaded, she was like maybe $200-$300. I did basic inventory of other things she does vs his fix it bs, gave comparisons of type of things my boyfriend and I do in our relationship. By the way im in my mid 30s and she is mid 20s. Not sure exact age. Anyways she seemed like I opened her eyes a little, before she left I told her she can come and chat any time, gaveher a hug.

I feel good about our conversation but maybe its really not my business. I spoke to my boyfriend about it he thinks I shouldve stayed out of it, basically not my monkey not my circus exact words.

TLDR: woman's husband seemed controlling, I told her I see red flag, should I minded my business?

AIO for kicking out my dad out of my apartment for criticizing my apartment and hard working boyfriend?

I 28f introduced my dad 59m. to my 30m boyfriend while he was on a work trip in the city I live in, and he had the audacity to criticize him harshly while his other adoptive daughters are dating complete belligerent assholes. I asked him to leave my apartment.

To preface, my dad is well off Ceo at a fairly large company, when he divorced my mom, I originally lived with her but my mom developed cocaine addiction, long story short I went through a bunch of tough life shit between now and then, have a solid career now and a supportive hardworking blue collar boyfriend but no more mom.

My dad's wife hated me back then (sometimes I get it I deserved it but I was also young)..she has 2 daughters who grew up in wealth and now those daughters are dating 2 'bros': one is a doctor that is also hooked on cocaine and the other is a entrepreneurial bro. Both of them I met several times and I have absolutely 0 respect for, they both come from money, and we can never have a decent enough conversation. In all honesty i never tried hard enough. the doctor actually offered my dad cocaine once at a party step mom was throwing for his 57th, my dad shared with me the detail because we catch up here and there.

Yet on his trip he had audacity after meeting my boyfriend who I have been with for over 2 years now to diminish what he does, and make unnecessary comments about my apartment, what he does, just being unimpressed at everything i accomplished with none of his help. I paid my way for this apartment, I hold a good job so does my boyfriend, we are doing better than most without any assistance from him. His adoptive daughters galavant in Europe on his dime while their obnoxious boyfriend and fiance are in my opinion complete.morons.

After several comments, mainly criticizing my boyfriends work, hours he has to put in and basically saying his time has a cap, I had enough. I asked him to leave and brought my sister's cocaine sniffing boyfriend and entrepreneurial fiance with negative net worth as an example and where the fuck did he find audacity to compare.

He didnt apologize and left.

Tldr: AIO for kicking my dad out of my home I pay for and criticizing my blu collar boyfriend for his type of work.
