I am a failure as a Leader and my teams do not respect me.

I think I may not have the personality to do this job. I want my two teams to grow and succeed. I went to bat for Team 1 and went above and beyond to make sure they have the right tools to do their job.

Team 2 is made of very senior and experienced employees. I try to leave them alone.

But, my supervisor dressed me down recently saying I am too timid, I don’t like confrontation and that my teams do not respect me. I think he is right. Please help.

I went and bought a second pair of the Sony WH-1000XM6 and can confirm that....

...the ANC was much weaker after the firmware update to 3.1.5

Don't do it! As soon as you purchase your Mark 6, immediately go to the Sony app, go to "settings" and toggle off any automatic updates.

Do it now!

Betrayed by Sony: My ANC is much less powerful (WH XM6)

After the auto-update, I can hear so many sounds. I did not fork over several hundred dollars for this! This is ridiculous. I do not know what to do.

When I purchased the Sony WH XM6 with the old/non-updated firmware/software, the ANC was off-the-chain incredible. It was actually too good to be true.

Now, after the auto-update....I am beside myself with frustration. Even worse, there is apparently no way to erase the update and go back to factory settings.

How to assign a simple but important project to a Senior but lazy Team Member?

"A" should really be a team leader, but hangs in the background and does not lead. I have already had sit-down, face-to-face meetings with each of my Team members and have been in charge of this team for less than a year. In that time, I have observed and taken mental notes.

I see three, highly motivated and skilled members who produce, produce, produce.

The one senior member has told me of medical issues and of feeling lethargic. I suspect this person is actually quite intelligent and maybe perhaps uses that as an excuse. I give "A" the benefit of the doubt.

I have a project that requires leadership and delegation and there is a set deadline.

How do you give this assignment w/o making it sound like a punishment for being lazy? I want it to be "A"s opportunity to grow and show leadership. I know "A" can do it.

1970 Dodge Demon found

Sadly, she is in very rough shape. I stumbled upon it while checking out a friend's very old property. The story goes it was once owned by the current property owner's relative, who would take it drag racing. I think it's been modified, but the front wheels/rims look stock. It looks like a metal pole fell through the roof. I was able to peek under the hood and there was an engine. Any ideas on the value? I think it's a parts car. Thank you.

I feel betrayed by my 2nd in Command but it may also be my fault - mixed signals

Hello Everyone,

I recently was assigned to lead a team that had been sorely neglected by the former manager.

The person holding this team together is my second in command, a very seasoned and experienced office veteran. She can command the loyalty of the team by the amount of knowledge she possesses. She is indispensable at creating operations and leading the operation. Everyone pretty much follows and seems to respect her.

I came in knowing his. I also gave her carte blanche to use up our monthly allotment of overtime, but not to go over the limit. I should have kept the total amount of hours I am allotted to myself. Big mistake.

We recently had a big operation where overtime was used by her and my team. I did not attend because there was a risk we would go over our May allotment of overtime. I told my 2nd in command twice to stick to a set amount of hours. On the day of the operation, I let her know to stick to the overtime limit I had stated earlier. She replied that she could not leave her friend (who was actually leading the operation) hanging by withdrawing and sending her team home. I left it at that and in hindsight I should have immediately told her that overtime earned beyond the amount I had approved would NOT be approved.

Now, I know we went over our budget. My supervisor is likely going to find out and he had warned me just prior to the operation, to NOT go over budget.

Would you give this 2nd in command and the team a second chance and approve all overtime cards, even if they are over our budget? Or, do you address this immediately by only approving the amount of hours I had approved?

I feel partly responsible for giving mixed signals. Thank you.

First Meetings with New Team: Your Thoughts Please

Hello Everyone,

I recently took over a team of less than 10 people. Their last Supervisor was heading for retirement and from speaking with current and former members and current supervisors who knew this person, she was very "hands off" and apparently did the bare minimum in terms of supervision and leadership.

I had a meeting with everyone, including the outgoing supervisor, who introduced me to the Team. About 2 weeks later, I sent an email to the Team asking to meet with each of them one-on-one so we could get to know each other.

So far, only four have responded. Two interviews were done, and two more are pending.

For the ones who did not even bother to reply, what would you recommend as my next step(s)?

Thank You,

Smithy-

UPDATE: I just walked over to two of my people and locked them down for interviews. I plan on adding more appointments to my calendar until we are done. Thank you!

Hello Everyone,

Thank you to all of you who try to make the lives of others better.

Recently, I have noticed scratches suddenly appearing on my body (chest, right calf, right thigh) that come out of nowhere. They scab quickly but it hurts when I take a shower When they are fresh.

Also, I noticed flies collecting outside my screen window. There is no food around and it appears they are attracted to me. I am a clean person who showers and changes clothes daily. If I walk to another window the flies seem to follow me.

Is there something attached to me? Have I been cursed?

Would a photo of myself help?

Thank You.
