GreenOvercast: xCloud Streaming in ROCKNIX on the X55

GreenOvercast: xCloud Streaming in ROCKNIX on the X55

u/Producdevity released his Xbox Cloud gaming client for Linux handhelds. Even though it doesn't officially support devices other than the H700 line yet, I installed it on my 1gb ram X55.. and I'm blown away. Shockingly it runs better than xCloud in Android or Gamma. Now it just needs Remote Play support!

You'll need a GamePass sub, or you can try it with a few free games. I tested Fortnite and I was blown away. So much quicker to get in and out of a game from ROCKNIX. No browser. No lag. It feels so much better without the Android bloat.

I'm making a cozy retro RPG about being a Monster Researcher

What if, instead of being the monster trainer… you were the monster researcher?

That was the question I asked myself when I wanted to tackle my next game. I've been working on a game called Monster Cove, and I thought this might be a good place to share it.

Full disclosure: Monster Cove isn't really a traditional monster tamer. You aren't trying to become the greatest trainer, collect eight badges, or build the ultimate team (although there is an evil team up to no good who you'll need to stop!)

Instead, you play as a Monster Researcher. When I was younger, I always wondered what it would be like to play as a Professor or his Assistant. Finding a new creature, learning about it, and maybe even getting to name the species. Basically I wondered what it would actually be like to play as the person *doing the research*.

That's the idea behind Monster Cove.

You arrive in Seaglass Cove, a quiet seaside village, and your job is to research the monsters living around it. You'll explore, encounter creatures, study them, catalog them, and gradually uncover more of the world around you. It's your job to name all the species of monsters you discover as well!

There is still battling, because the monsters won't take kindly to being scanned. But you'll have a choice to either attack and level up your defense skills, or flee safely. The focus is on exploration, discovery, and filling out your Monsterpedia. All while stopping an evil team who is kidnapping scientists for a mysterious goal.

And visually, I'm going for that old-school handheld look. I'm a huge fan of that period of games, so I wanted Monster Cove to feel like the kind of game you might have discovered on a cartridge in the late '90s/early 2000s.

So if you've ever looked at a monster encyclopedia in a monster-taming game and thought it would be cozy to play as the Professor or the Assistant, that's basically the game I'm trying to make. The game will also have tons of side activities. Minigames, card games, slots, fishing, etc.

Monster Cove just launched on Kickstarter if you'd like to check it out more. I'll post a link in the comments!

Thanks for taking a look!

Opinion on logo?

I've been driving myself nuts trying to design a logo for my upcoming game. Thoughts on which of these logos look the best?

It's a throwback to the GBC/GBA graphic wise and set on a tropical island.

[DEV] Jewel Premium - A Relaxing Match-3 Puzzle Game with No Ads, No IAPs, & Offline Play | Now Available

Hi everyone!

I'm an indie developer who normally creates retro RPGs, but I recently released a different kind of project called Jewel Premium.

I wanted a puzzle game that I could genuinely relax with. Something I could play offline at the end of the day without being bombarded by ads, in-app purchases, energy systems, timers, daily rewards, or endless pop-ups.

Jewel Premium is a premium match-3 puzzle game featuring 300 levels, two game modes, a relaxing lo-fi 92 BPM soundtrack, and a minimalist visual style built around colorful gradients and a calming atmosphere.

There are no ads, no in-app purchases, and no online requirements. Once you buy the game, you own the complete experience.

The game is now available on Google Play, and I hope you'll check it out!

Stardew Valley on RG DS

This is an awesome way to play Stardew Valley. The native Android version runs perfect with Gamma OS. Then I use the fantastic Gunther's Library app on the bottom screen. This really makes the game feel like a true DS game. It's a fantastic app and very helpful while playing, it also blends in and looks like it's actually part of the game. I can't recommend this setup enough.

I'm a solo dev who has published a few retro RPGs, porting them to Android. You might have played one of my other games (from Solohack3r Studios) over the years. I just released my latest game, Haunting of Mageburrow. As usual with my games, there are no ads or IAP. And the game natively supports gamepads, external keyboards, and devices from Retroid & Anbernic etc.

Step into the shoes of a disgruntled paranormal investigator and journey to a town that feels lost to time. Uncover a criminal conspiracy, solve a murder, all while exploring an open world and a massive sprawling castle shrouded in darkness. Featuring characters and themes inspired by Lovecraftian horror.

You will play as a Paranormal Investigator (male or female, your choice) who has been struggling with their job. What follows next is a series of mysterious events. A car accident. A murder. A shady real estate deal. Everything is connected. But to what? The occult. What is real, and what is pure fiction? You'll dive head first into the cult, a gothic castle, and a cozy English town to explore. Slowly you'll start to unravel the conspiracy as you meet the citizens of Mageburrow. From this crazy cast of characters, everyone has a secret to hide. Oh and there's monsters to battle. Don't forget the monsters.

I hope you'll check it out!
