Ideas for an elementary classroom?

I am a new elementary teaching graduate and I’m thinking about some ideas for my first classroom! I love the dark fantasy vibe and labyrinth is my favorite movie ever so I want to take the homey and cozy feelings from them to decorate. I know I can’t do an outright labyrinth theme because of the age level and subject matter so I’m thinking some dark academia inspiration could help!

I don’t have my room yet but I’m just wondering if anyone has any ideas for ways to make that vibe on a budget. I know for sure I want a reading corner with a big tree on the wall and vines hanging down, fairy lights and leaves and plants everywhere, and the door knockers and worm somewhere lol

Ideas for a sample lesson?

I’m a new grad that got an interview at a school I like and they asked me to come in on Wednesday (2 days from now) to do a lesson. It has to be 30 minutes about theme, plot, and key details to help support the overall text. I know I can do it but some context: These kids, that I do not know, are in the midst of state testing and it’s at the tail-end of the day🫠

I’m wondering what kind of activity I can quickly introduce and showcase my ability on.

I was thinking some kind of sentence/theme matching game to show that they’re up and moving and talking to each other? Like an excerpt from a familiar story that they have to find their “partner” for?

It’s not so much I don’t feel prepared but I want to know how my idea sounds and if I should rethink it.

The principal said she just wants to see how I interact with the students and one of my strengths that I’m very proud of is my ability to connect with kids and get them excited. The instructional coach said something pretty straightforward as it is just a review for them.

Found this!

I loved Disney fairies as a kid in the 2010s and was so happy to find this thrifting!! Seeing it in the piles brought me right back to the tinkerbell stuff I used to have. Can anyone help me find out more about it? Is it from that time period or newer? I’m just curious! It’s a small mini backpack and the tag is half rubbed off, but I can see the logo. I think I want to use it for seashells:D

Advice needed

I just graduated from my elementary program and have been subbing (or trying to) for a week or two since classes have ended. My goal was to get as much experience as I can before the end of the K-12 year and get my foot in the door for jobs. However, on red rover, most jobs are for middle and high schools in special Ed. I know it could be good experience but I honestly do not feel qualified or able to teach those areas. I have taken one half-day position and it went fine but nothing since then.

I’m not sure what to do. I think there is a fine line (for me anyway) between expanding my horizons and doing something I’m still new to: running a class by myself without a cooperating teacher.

I only have a few weeks left, and admittedly I just got approved like last Wednesday but I’m trying to make the most of my time. AND our district is super competitive so all the jobs I want get scooped up super quick, like in less than 10 seconds.

Am I overthinking this?

What should I do?

I saw this message this morning after delivering around 9 pm last night. I’m not sure what to do. I’m worried they will deactivate my account because I had problems with a couple orders yesterday and it was only like my sixth order and second multi order. But I know for a fact that they were not rotten and the pineapple was literally in a plastic container-and every single avocado looked the same at the store and were not rotten. What do I say? Do I defer to instacart? I am still very new and panicking.

I just signed up and I’m so confused why I’m not getting batches. I don’t even know what it would look like. But do I have to sit in a parking lot and wait for people to send in orders or something? Sorry I’m not super clear on this, the app didn’t explain much.

Printer randomly stopped working with wireless print. I send files to the printer from Mac, it makes noises, says printing and then stops. Just sits in queue on the computer.

I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting both the laptop and printer to WiFi, updating the computer; and changing ink. Nothing happens except randomly, it printed out a bunch of documents with cryptic symbols at the top.

Mac does not have drivers available online. Is it something I can fix if it’s discontinued by brother and not supported? Or just sell for parts?
