PLEASE everyone—slow down! We don’t need more of our bears getting hit by distracted and speeding drivers on the BRP!
SLOW DOWN! If you see one bear crossing the road or alongside the road…slow down! There will probably be another one or two or three! We just had a cub killed on the parkway by an ignorant driver. Don’t be that person! In North Carolina, we love our bears, and I bet Virginians do, too!
The same goes for deer! And watch out for the little critters, too. The BRP is a scenic highway with low speed limits, and several pull-outs where you can take in the views. While driving, slow down and pay attention, PLEASE!
I’m well aware that locals are also guilty of speeding and distracted driving. Let’s watch out for our wildlife!

Back in the day, when I had a few dollars, I had a Rick or two. Now I can’t afford one. What guitar do you think would come closest to a 360 in sound and feel?

What do you use?

I used to play guitar a lot, and I had the confidence and skills to know whether a used guitar was any good. It’s been several years since I’ve played, and I’m not confident enough to shop on Marketplace, for example. So….is there a good shop in the area that sells guitars that have been set-up properly, and where the staff aren’t just rockstar wannabes, but people who actually care about musicians?

Besides pizza, where are good places to go eat given the cryptosporidium crisis? (Be nice please.)

I have several made in Vietnam, and they’re great. Are the Chinese ones just as good? Specifically Lone Peak 6.
Does anyone know this from user experience?

Especially when driving…

If you see a bear, deer, or other critter in the road, slow down ( if safe). Maybe don’t speed to begin with, ffs! If you can safely slow down a lot, remember that with bears and deer, there’s usually more than one. Several times on the Parkway, a momma has been on the road or on the side of the road. She crosses, and after a pause 1 then 2 then 3 cubs follow.

Be patient! Respect the critters that live around here!!

Are there local meat options around here? If so, do you know what the animals’ quality of life is like? And more importantly, how they are slaughtered? I’m currently a vegetarian considering reintroducing minimal meat. I’ve never bought the “they’ve had a great life” argument, because their end is probably filled with absolute terror and pain.
I’m not looking for a moral argument. Believe me, I don’t need Reddit to increase/decrease my guilt or doubt. I really just want facts, if possible.

Are there stores around here that will have good boogie boards?

Trying to find the best way to clean merino. Suggestions?

I want to see Pictured Rocks and the Whitefish museum. Where’s a good place to stay? Grand Marais?
Edit to say I won’t be able to camp. Need hard walls!

Is there anywhere in town who has a large selection of merino wool tee-shirts? I hate to buy new because they’re so expensive, but they are hard to find used.

I’m doing a little road-tripping, and fish/burgers/steak etc are not options. Suggestions?
