This may be the wrong sub but I lurk here a lot and primarily shoot food/restaurants, so I figured I’d start here:
I have been using the Godox ad200’s for years (and picked up one of the newer pro 2’a last year). I rarely shoot large spaces or shoot through more than a double diffused strip, but I did a shoot recently where I had to work with a huge space (and shoot more of a lifestyle scene than food) and I’d like to experiment more with scrims and more diffusion.
I was looking to upgrade to a profoto b20 but it only offers 50 more wattage. I know the Profotos have better UI and color management but what I love about my current set up is how portable everything is. It’s just getting to the point where I need more power.
Given I’m mostly working in restaurants and not studio spaces, battery power is key. Should I just upgrade to a better godox or make the switch to profoto? I almost exclusively use westcott rapid strips with Bowen’s mounts so I could easily switch those, if needed.
Thanks!
It may have been made in the 1980s, but something about the production value felt more modern. It may have come out before 2004, but not after. I was in a film class in 2004 and we were shown a clip of it. There was something strikingly odd about seeing the motion of actors, or horse and carriages in a small part of a mostly unmoving frame.
I THINK the director was a woman, and this was sort of her style she developed, using these paintings (maybe just matte paintings, but they looked more painterly and less realistic) as a way of creating backdrops on a low budget. It may have been British, but it could have been American, too. Also, I don't think there were any name actors. Now that I think of it, it could have been a Canadian film.
I tried using Gemini and Claude and neither could find it, but I will say it is NOT one of these films:
Little Dorrit
Orlando
Comrades
The Secret Garden
Little Women
Would love to find this film so I can watch it in full and explore more of the director's work. Thanks in advance!
It feels surreal to type this but here I am.
I (40m) have been married to my wife (37f) for 5.5 years (and we started dating 12 years ago). Things have had their ups and downs, but about three years ago we started seeing a couples therapist and we were both growing and becoming better partners for it. However, it was about three years ago that my wife was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder and that's when she became overly-obsessed with work, picking up smoking after quitting a decade ago, compulsively binging/purging (something she also struggled with in high school), and shopping so much that she overdrafted her checking account.
Sexually, things were getting better but weren't great. We experimented with a few ffm threesomes, and my wife had expressed interest in becoming non monogamous at some point. About a year ago, we started seeing a sex therapist and felt like we were making progress. I was always against ENM because I thought that my wife would have no problem finding guys, whereas I would struggle. We had another ffm threesome about 4 months ago, and I was actually the one to hit on the girl and make it happen, so my confidence swung back and I felt less opposed to the idea of sleeping with other people separately.
A month ago, we had a 2 week great vacation together and our sex was starting to feel more regular, genuine, and fun. Even when we came back from our trip, when stress seems to hit her the hardest (the come down from a vacation), our sex was rampant, we weren't fighting and things seemed nearly perfect. We had our weekly session with our sex therapist, and she was very complimentary. My wife said "I'd like to try to open up the conversation about opening up our marriage." The therapist thought we should table it for the following week, but we can start exploring it while we continue to repair our relationship.
For a week, things proceeded as normal. But then, we were flying back from a quick weekend trip to visit family and my wife emerges from the airport bathroom, holding her phone, and on the screen I see what looks like a photo of a man's abs, on a dating app. I ask her what's the deal and she says it's porn, and we can talk about it later. We don't. And the next morning, I text her 'That wasn't porn, that was a dating app, wasn't it?' She effusively apologizes and says it's nothing, she was just bored with work (she works from home) and downloaded just because she was curious. I table this conversation until I am home, and we have a quick one-on-one right before therapy.
She tells me that in addition to having the app (FEELD), she was also having conversations with people but nothing came of it. She didn't meet anyone. She put in her profile she was happily married and experimenting in non-monogomy. No one was attracting her, "no one even compares to you," she said. She deleted the app and that was that - and then immediately we started our couples therapy (which we do remotely with our therapist). It was a mess, I could barely talk, she admitted to our therapist what had happened and we decided to have separate sessions later in the week (which to date, was last Monday).
I mostly avoid my wife that week, making plans with friends just to give myself space. During my one-on-one, our therapist says that a lot of these symptoms my wife has been exhibiting are under the umbrella of her Borderline Personality Disorder, which makes me hopeful, and take it all less personally, but still doesn't seem to make me feel a ton better. It's after that session that my wife and I talk, and I tell her I want to work on her relationship, but she needs to do the work, too.
That weekend, literally 4 days ago, we spent a lot of time together, and it felt like our marriage was starting to look like it used to. Until tonight.
My wife wanted to bring her laptop to a cool hotel lobby that is walkable from us (we live in a walkable city) and do work there. I was going to a dinner without her and I offered to walk her over there. I had some time to kill when we arrived, but my wife insisted I start heading over. I said I'll just sit with her while she works and do some emails from my phone. But she kept saying I should get going. Something was up.
I demanded she give me her phone. I went to her texts, and her deleted texts and saw she deleted a whole conversation with a "Ryan." As I started to read the conversation, my chest froze. I yelled out loud, in the hotel lobby "you're cheating on me???" It had appeared, and my wife backed it up, by saying that they had met through Feeld, and had went on a date together a few weeks ago, maybe a week or so after our Japan trip, and she told me was meeting up with a colleague but felt the need to tell me 'he's male, by the way. I want to make sure you know for transparency. In their chats, she expressed that she was married but new to ENM. There was even a chat (referring to the time I discovered my wife was on the dating app) that they needed to pause things as she was having some relationship 'drama.' After that meeting, where my wife claims they never even touched, my wife had suggested they meet up at a hotel and, tonight was the night. I texted Ryan from her phone, I'm at the lobby and he said he's coming.
When the guy came down, I didn't feel that threatened by his looks (he was a couple feet shorter than me and other things I don't need to get into). I told him who I was, and I said not to look at her and tell me if he even touched her and he said 'no, not at all, nothing has happened.' I explained that I wasn't aware of this and he will not be talking to her, and he suggested he block her. I said thank you, he went inside without looking back at me or my wife. I screenshotted the conversation from my wife's phone. Texted myself everything. Blocked him, deleted his texts, everything from her phone.
I speak to my individual therapist as we are walking home, I let her go ahead so I can have privacy. She doesn't bring me much comfort but it's nice to talk to someone about it.
We get home and I try to get some space, but I can't. I just keep asking her questions. And then she reveals there's more.
There was a new female 'friend' that she was going to see tomorrow night. She had mentioned they met through another mutual friend, but as I am looking at my wife's phone (with her permission) I see they had met through Feeld as well. My wife admits that she met this girl, went to the girl's boyfriend's apartment. She makes out with this girl, and then the boyfriend tries to get them all to have a threesome. My wife declines, but she stays and watches, never touching the man. Then the girl and my wife go hang out and have drinks together. As my wife mentioned, they were going to hang out again but my wife claims it was just as friends. In their text exchange, my wife also mentions the "marriage drama" that makes her want to slow things down in terms of hooking up.
I have never been with someone this long. We own our home together, I am on her health insurance, we know each others' families intimately. This is not something I'm willing to just throw away but I have no goddamn clue how to move forward. I just don't trust a single thing out of her mouth, and there were periods in the past where I had suspicions, but my wife has told me nothing has ever happened until recently, and it's all occurred in the past few weeks.
We have an emergency couples therapy appointment tomorrow. I don't want to be a 41 year old divorcee (no shame to those who are), as it's my birthday next week. But at the same time, with this Borderline Personality Disorder, I'm nervous things may get worse. She is on medication, she has a psychiatrist who has been helping her, and last week she got a new psychiatrist that has mentioned that some of the meds may have had averse effects so they're going to find out what works best and switch her asap.
Anyway, this sucks, and none of my friends (either single, or married with kids) are going through this kinda stuff so I'd love some feedback for those who have, or just want to share. I have had a couple friends who lost their partners to infidelity, but both were a little more extreme than this. I should add that my wife says she is desperate to stay with me and will do anything to keep us together.
TL;DR - Partner of 12 years, with Borderline Personality Disorder, was having secret relationships right as our marriage was seeming to peak. Don't want to leave her, but don't know how to regain our trust either.
Most of my clients have brought virtual staging in-house with their marketing department, but I do have a couple clients who come to me directly for staging and they're happy with the work - BUT one client I have had for four years now and is tired of the library my stager has.
My current stager satisfies the following criteria:
I visited this thread and it's all AI-driven. I'm not against AI as a tool, but I don't want a one-click solution because my client's are SUPER picky and don't want any surprises. Obviously, I want to also use a service that they can't just use on their own and rule me out.
Can anyone here recommend me a different virtual staging person/service that satisfies the criteria I mentioned above?
PS - If you DM me your service, please don't bother unless there it satisfies or exceeds the criteria mentioned above
Hi! I'm a big fan of sauna/cold plunge/hot tub culture. I live in NYC and have been to many Aire and QC spas around the US/Europe/Asia. I had a great time at the spa in Bath when I was in the UK a few years ago and will be traveling to Mexico City and London in Nov and Dec and looking for some recs.
The kind of places I like have a mix of saunas/cold plunges/steam rooms/hot pools, and you are free to move about them at any pace/rate you'd like (as opposed to some spas which have timed regiments). I also like guided aufgus's but not the ones which have heavy guided meditation or too much, well, talking.
Ideally, it would be a non-membership situation where I can pop in with a day pass, instead of booking some kind of treatment and having access to the spas, like many hotels seem to offer.
OWA in CDMX and Sauna Social Club in London both seem like good fits, but I'd appreciate any and all recommendations. Thank you!
I have been using Tiffen (and at one point an uncessarily expensive Hoya 'antistatic') UV filter for some time on my 15-35 and I am hating the post work I am doing to remove the lens flares from using this filter.
I am unopposed to using a different kind of filter, though would prefer not to use a polarizer to cut light. I am opposed to going filter-free as I am not in the market to have to buy a replacement lens or rent a replacement lens whilst mine is repaired.
Does anyone have any recs for a filter that will not create this annoying flares?
Thank you!
EDIT: ONLY LOOKING FOR RECOMMENDATIONS FOR FILTERS - NOT IF I SHOULD USE A FILTER.
A client is asking if I can achieve this and I"m not sure if this is AI/post work done to create these gradients. Client provided me the shots in a google drive and I tried reverse image searching them online to find who to give credit to but it came up with nothing.
The coupe shot, with it's contents reflecting the colors, makes me think this was done in camera but then that would mean there were 5 different lights for this shot? Thoughts?
Edit: apparently the first image is from Studio Furious according to some comments
For those in the future who may see this and not want to do the math, this is from my July 2026 visit.
We had been wanting to go here for years and when we finally decided to go, I did as much research as I could, relying heavily on the Benesse site and, still, I made some mistakes I wish I avoided. We still had an amazing time but we could’ve made our trip more efficient to maximize time in other cities during our 2 week trip to Japan.
1. Check all of the opening/closing times when you create your itinerary. I thought I had done this properly but didn’t realize that the Art Houses in Naoshima close between 12/1-1-2pm. I should mention we stayed one night at ROKA and one night at Sparky’s. ROKA was a splurge for us and, because of that, we wanted to spend the entire afternoon from check-in and the entire morning until check out just handing at the hotel and enjoying our private in-room onsen. Had we not done this, I think we could have maximized our time in Naoshima and consolidated two days into one, but transportation may have been a bit of an issue which leads to my second point.
2 If you don’t mind walking a lot, you don’t need bikes on Naoshima but you definitely do on Teshima. I had read so many articles and heard people comparing Naoshima to Storm King, and I thought there would be art scattered everywhere, which isn’t really true. There is a lot of art scattered around the island but it’s all relatively close to each other or in a linear fashion where you can easily walk from one to the next. We had bikes our first day but didn’t use them as it rained and we managed fine walking from ROKA (near the Noashima New Museum of Art) to Chichu, and then walking through all the museums/installations down to the yellow pumpkin. Granted, when we got there, we had our hotel pick us up but there is a bus that runs frequently that can take you up to the art house area. Also - you cannot bike between Chichu and the yellow pumpkin. I learned that the next day when I did a little joy ride in the nice weather. You would either have to park it at the yellow pumpkin, walk to Chichu and walk ALL the way back to your bike, or vice versa. And to get between the two points is a very hilly run with, albeit, nice views, but near no art. Teshima, however, does have a greater sprawl and I don’t know how you can get around without a bike. We rented ours from Setouchi Current Mobility weeks before coming. Also, I am nearly 6’2” and even with the biggest bike I was a little uncomfortable so you may want to figure something out if you’re taller than that.
3. The museums are smaller/quicker than you would think. I was basing our itinerary off the estimated viewing times on the Benesse website and, in a perfect world, with all the money in the world, I COULD spend an hour at the Teshima Museum (which was definitely one of my highlights and I highly recommend it), but really we were there for 20 minutes and it felt like enough. A lot of the art rooms (except Ring of Fire Lunar [35 min ‘performance’] and Minamidera - which was maybe 15-20 min) are very small and took us 5-10 minutes. We were really unimpressed with Benesse House and friends told us not bother staying there (not sure how it could beat ROKA!) and we maybe knocked it out in 15-20min. Granted, we go to a lot of museums when we travel and had seen a lot of pieces in these museums before, so maybe that contributed to it. It will depend on you, but, you can sort of get an idea by the photos which leads me to my next point.
4 You cannot take photos in about half of the art spaces. Not even non-flash photography - any photos. However, there are great photos in the online and in print guides, and it’ll give you a good idea of what to expect if you don’t mind some spoilers. The architecture, particularly the work of Ando in Naoshima is an artwork in itself and you can learn more about it in the Ando Museum - but keep in mind it’s not an art museum per se, but more of an architectural museum.
5. The ferry schedule is a little limited so study it up before you make your choices. We wanted to go to Inujima from Teshima, starting our trip in Naoshima, but that would’ve meant we’d only have 3 hours in Teshima (when you really need at least four), so we had to skip Inujima. I did overhear a tour guide say something to the effect of the one museum on Inujima requires tours and they are only done in Japanese, so maybe we dodged a bullet? The island seemed very small. Also, we stayed in Uno en route to Naoshima (where we stayed for 2 nights) and then from there to Takamatsu to get to the airport for our next destination. There are many more ferries from Uno to Naoshima then from Naoshima to Takamatsu, so that was a little limiting as well. But we loved Uno!
6. If you’re into onsens, you can skip the Naoshima one but definitely go to the one in Uno. There is a photo online of the spa in Naoshima and what you see is what you get - it’s one room with one large bath. But there is a gorgeous onsen in Uno, by the port which has an indoor cold bath, two hot baths, a sauna, a steam room, and a series of pools of varying temperatures outside all for the cost of (as of July 2026) $10!
I’m happy to answer any questions and add more if I think of anything but I’ll end with our favorite spots of the 72 hour trip in no particular order:
Art
Naoshima New Museum of Art
Chichu Museum
Valley Gallery
Minamidera
Teshima Yokoo House
Les Archives de Coeur
Teshima Art Museum
Food/Drink
New Olympia
Sparky’s Coffee (breakfast)
Bar Queen’s-Q
Teshima Factory
And please, do not waste your time with Les Foret des Murmures - unless you want to go for a hike where you will be warned multiple times about wild boars.
Hello! I am traveling to Zamami in a week for three nights and was trying to find some restaurant recommendations and there doesn’t appear to be any/many online.
If you have any spots that you recommend, are reservations required?
Thank you!

Hi all, I grew up in LA but haven’t lived there in decades. My mother is turning 75 and was going to travel with my dad to Vancouver (where he grew up) for her birthday on Tuesday and was excited to visit a Chinese/pan-Asian street fair then, but she got into a car accident (she’s ok luckily, just banged up) and has had to skip the trip. I want to order her something that will sort of emulate the experience of Chinese street fair.
They live in Marina Del Rey and my mom doesn’t eat a lot of red meat and seafood. Is there some sort of fun Chinese skewer place that would deliver there? I took them to Feng Mao on my last visit and it was a fit, if that helps.
Thank you!
Budget: ideally no more than $1000
Country: US or Japan
Condition: New or in working used condition
Type of Camera: unsure, see below
Intended use: Ideally hybrid
End use: Commercial and social media
If photography: travel
If video what style: lifestyle
What features do you absolutely need: small and light
What features would be nice to have: minimal need for post production
Portability: handheld but light
Cameras you're considering: sony A7C, Fuji Tx, Yoshika T4
Cameras you already have: Canon R5 - love almost everything about it, minus video noise and camera weight
Notes: Hi there, I'm a professional commercial photographer, who has also been shooting more video (and wants to be doing more of it). For the last 5 years, I have been using a Canon R5 (and have been using Canon gear for 15 years) so I am well worn into the Canon eco-system.
However -
When I travel, as much as the images of my camera and 24-70mm RF f/2.8 create amazing images - that beast is HEAVY. I ran into another photographer who was using a Sony A7C body and I was astounded with how small it was. I've been considering buying one as a back-up/travel camera but then there is the lens - do I just throw on my nifty fifty 1.8 canon? Do I get a new sony lens? My R5 can create some great video but I know Sony is great with video and the lighter body would be easier on my gimbal.
Then there is the post-production. I used to love editing everything on my flights home but it is SUPER time consuming and in my most recent trip to Sri Lanka, I essentially just wound up selecting ten photos that I edited and shared, so it would be great to achieve something nearly 85% IN-camera, which is why I've been recently into all the Fuji stuff my algorithm has been feeding me.
But then again, it would be fun to shoot film and not have to worry too much about post-production at all. I am going to Japan in a month (for my third time) and the last time I was there I picked up a really cool little medium format film camera and I have been chatting with other photographers about some vintage point-and-shoot's with built-in flashes that turn out great stuff - but then I'm SUPER limited with my focal range and relying on flash/shooting only in daylight.
Forgive this bloated post but essentially I'm looking for something:
-ideally in the $1000 or less range
-portable and light
-can maybe work with Canon lenses
-can maybe improve my video capabilities
-can minimize post-production
I’ve been seeing some full docks recently with other bikes parked next to them and (seemingly) “docked”.
Does anyone know how to successfully do this?
Can it only be done with e-bikes?
Thanks in advance
I took most everyone's advice - I shot at 24fps, I really focused on framing, lighting and motion within frame (in lieu of the camera moving around) but most importantly I think I've got a good grasp on grading. There is a certain "look" (grainy, almost 70s, film) that definitely looks cinematic but I don't know how repeatable it is for my other clients but I'd love some feedback if you have 30 seconds to watch.
Here's the first post I made for reference.
I should caveat that the previous post was more of a reel and this was a single video for a client, but you can get the gist. I'm really excited about the results but am always down for some feedback. Thank you!
