This poster for Stars & Strollers makes me laugh every time I see it at my theatre. Looks like Mom's trying to watch Obsession and the baby is straight up not feeling it.

A24’s decision to not bring Matt Johnson’s Tony to TIFF is truly baffling.

It would be a slam dunk for People’s Choice, it’s such a TIFF movie.

I had the pleasure of seeing it today in Toronto alongside a Q&A with Matt Johnson, who left the set of his new movie to quickly come chat with the audience.

While the credits were rolling he mentioned how he would have loved to screen it at TIFF and A24 didn’t want to. He spoke highly of A24 but seemed a little frustrated it couldn’t happen.

It’s such a crowd pleaser, and with his name recognition here in Toronto and the high regard he’s been held in in our film community this year, it seems like they’ve missed a huge opportunity for word of mouth with a potential People’s Choice win.

What’s in that little rundown brown brick building on the lakeshore west line under the underpass off the tracks shortly after leaving Union?

There’s a little rundown brick building you see between union and exhibition that I’m assuming is something boring like storage or a work facility for the rail workers….

but I swear it looks like it’s some crazy old rent controlled apartments right on the tracks but that seems more than far ferched.

You can get peak in the windows as you go by and there’s lights on, but it looks pretty rundown from the quick glimpse you can see.

Anyone know the answer and wants to ruin my vision of there being a curmudgeonly old man who’s lived there since the 60’s watching the trains go by?

No Camp Miasma screenings next week in the GTA?

Camp Miasma is supposed to release on Friday, but it doesn't even look like Cineplex is giving it a limited release based on the showtimes available. Looks like there are no current screenings across the GTA for next week.

Only screenings that show up when searching are for NS, QC and AB.

Has anyone heard what their plan is for releasing?

How long is the average wait for food at BTRMLK now?

Drove by tonight thinking I’d try it, but as I passed in the lot around 8pm, I saw every seat full and the line going right to the door and didn’t have time for a big wait.

Was hoping the hype had cooled off a bit by now, but looks like the demand is still crazy.

Time for a big prune or let it grow?

This jade is probably 6 or 7 years old and I’m about to repot in a new slightly more gritty soil.

It was the first houseplant that really got me interested and plants and turning it into a hobby so it weirdly has a lot of sentimental value to me.

I’ve pruned it many times over the years and potted around 25 or so of its little cuttings to put around my house and give as gifts to family and friends who also enjoy plants.

Do you think it should get more of a hard prune, just a smaller reset, or should i let it keep growing as is?

I started propagating from it before I really learned what I was doing so I wasn’t thinking much about the overall shape and bushiness so many cuts would make.

Appreciate any thoughts! Cheers

“What’s the fastest way to the pier” this Mazda commercial on Crave is driving me insane.

My first experiment at going for more of a bonsai look with a shorter wide pot

I have a couple dozen cuttings planted now, but this is my first attempt at trying a shorter bonsai pot with lots of drainage and a much more gritty soil using an equal mix of succulent soil, perlite and lava rocks (with a top layer of just lava rocks because I thought they looked cool).

So far I think it’s handled the repotting pretty well. Most of my jades admittedly don’t have drainage holes in their pots so it’s taken some adjustment in my watering with how much more drainage this guy gets, but I’m hoping it will be a successful experiment and I can move all my others to similar pots.

I’ve been terrified of over/under watering while I figure out the right balance.

Anyother Canadians Amazon preorder of Nirvanna The Band The Show The Movie get stuck in shipping through Canada Post

I pre-ordered a blu ray of Nirvanna The Band The Show The Movie months ago through Amazon. It had a release date listed for yesterday, and shipped about a week ago, saying it would arrive yesterday on Tuesday.

Now it appears to be stuck in Canada Post limbo with no new tracking updates since Saturday.

Any other Canadians in the same boat? I've never had a prime order come through Canada Post. Never would have ordered from Amazon if I knew it wouldn't have been shipped by Amazon. My penance for not buying local at Bay St. Video.
