Fitcheck: Lenny Lamb woven wrap

Baby seems happy. His seat is tight but top feels a little loose. He can lean his head back if he wants or lean it forward. Should it be tight up against the chest or should he have some slack?

Thanks!

Attending my first LGS CEDH Event! Help me focus my Urza, Lord High Artificer Deck? =)

Decklist

Gameplan:

This is a modified version of my B4 Urza deck that I affectionately call "artifact storm". The basic idea is to ramp, cast Urza, fetch [[Reality Chip]], then cast stuff off the top of the library until I hit a winning combo.

Support for this plan can be seen in the form of [[Temple Bell]], [[Codex Shredder]], and [[Sensei's Divining Top]] as well as the artifact cost reduction creatures [[Foundry Inspector]] and [[Etherium Sculptor]].

Wincons include any combination of well-known combo pieces like [[Power Artifact]], [[Forensic Gageteer]], [[Forsaken Monument]] and [[Basalt Monolith]] / [[Grim Monolith]], as well as [[Hullbreaker Horror]] bounces and [[Worldwalker Helm]] + [[Deadeye Navigator]]. Another maybe slightly less obvious wincon in here is [[Thopter Squadron]] and [[Worldwalker Helm]] / [[Stridehangar Automaton]]. It goes without saying that [[Isochron Scepter]] + [[Dramatic Reversal]] also make an appearance.

All of these produce either infinite mana, tokens, or both, which can be used to either cast my deck (winning when I hit a tutor for [[Altar of the Brood]] and then creating infinite tokens with any number of combos).

Current Performance:

What you're looking at with that deck list is my actual B4 deck plus about a dozen proxied cards between the core deck and the sideboard.

The base deck with no proxies performs very well against other b4 decks. I regularly win with relative ease, sometimes getting swatted down early but coming back with a well-timed counterspell and an Urza recast.

When goldfishing, I almost always have a wincon out between turns 4 and 6.

With proxies, it is marginally faster, but I also am less familiar with the cards so I do miss some plays.

Budget/What I need help with:

This deck list is essentially all of the real cards and/or legal proxies I will have for this event. I have a binder full of other good stuff, but I've narrowed it down to this sideboard for now. I need help refining the deck using essentially only what I have here or in the sideboard.

If your advice is something like "go buy this card" or "proxy in ______" that won't be happening because I won't be able to get them before the event.

We're looking only to maximize the effectiveness of the deck based only on what is in the deck list and sideboard.

Exceptions: If you're like "Hey, there is a really common card that I don't see in this list that would be good," then I'm willing to hear that as I might have it in my collection somewhere.

My Thoughts

[[Training Grounds]] is normally in my B4 deck but I took it out when I focused the deck down. So far, I have been really missing it when goldfishing as having Urza's second ability go off for only 3 made the storm mechanic even more reliabile. If I hit a land I couldn't play or mill I could spin the wheel, cast something, and clear the top of the deck for more storming.

I don't know if I can reasonably work any more 0 cost spells or ramp pieces in here for more consistent turn 3 Urza casts, but that would be nice.

I also feel that [[Grafdigger's Cage]], [[Harbinger of the Seas]] and [[Winter Orb]] would be valuable stax pieces, but I don't know if they're worth getting targeted over.

I just can't seem to narrow the list down any more due to my lack of experience.

Any help y'all can offer would be great. Thank you!!!

Your opponent has activated your disproportionate response mode: what did they do?

In a recent game, my opponent played a theft commander deck. He yoinked our creatures once they hit the field and it was pretty annoying.

I immediately targeted him and started swinging at him with [[Elenda, The Dusk Rose]] protected by [[Lightning Greaves]] turn after turn. This eventually chipped him down since he couldn't steal more tokens than I was making. The aristocrat mechanics helped too since he was hesitant to block and give me death triggers.

Once he was sufficiently beat down he started whining that I wasn't being fair. There were other threats on the board and I should attack them.

I said, "I came here to play with my deck, not so you could play with my deck."

My opponent grumbled about it and seemed surprised that I wasn't content to sit back and let my board get pressganged into service for him.

I killed him then went on to win a few turns later after I drew a cheeky [[Sanctum Seeker]].

This made me realize I *hate* when people steal my stuff. I don't mind if you exile, murder, or pacify my stuff. But steal it? Nah, you're gone. My goal in the game now becomes "get my stuff back".

It got me wondering what mechanics or strategies trigger a disproportionate response from other players? Is there anything that immediately causes you to target a player regardless of rational threat assessment?

EDIT: removed weird double spacing formatting?

Anyone else have experience with this hilarious phenomenon?

Anyone else have experience with this hilarious🤪 💫phenomenon💫?

As someone who works with contracts📃 at my day job🤢, something I find hilarious🤣 to engage💍 in from time to time 🕝is purposefully getting ‘fooled’🥴 by deceptive deals™️ and then breaking ☄️them.

We all know 🧐the people that are constantly offering deceptive🤞 deals and then somehow expect you to follow ➡️through with their bullshit🐂💩.

For a very common example:

Player A: I won’t attack you if you don’t kill my commander until my after my next turn. 👉👈

Player B: ok 😐🆗️

Player B: \*plays path to exile\*☻️👋

For some reason ⁉️a decent chunk of the player base gets absolutely tickled pink♀️ when they get to engage in the above shithousery.💩🏘

Enter me.👁👄👁👉👌💦💦💦

After dealing with contracts📃 all day 🌅at work👨‍💻, players like Player B🅱️ tend to cause me annoyance🙄. It’s so easy😘 for me to see 🔍👀through their intentions☠️ (which they can almost never 🙅‍♀️hide behind their devious😈 smiles), that I’ve begun occasionally just going along with it to purposely fuck🦴 them over by breaking💔 it.

As you can imagine🧠, the malding🥵 has been COPIOUS📈. They can’t stand the taste 👅of their own medicine🧑‍🔬💉. Just say, “sorry, but you clearly weren’t dealing in good faith✝️ and I will therefore excuse myself from my previously agreed to contractual✅️©️ obligations,” or something similar and watch the salt🧂, to the detriment of all nearby mollusks🐚, overflow🌊.

I 🌟encourage🌟 you all to try it sometime🕙, maybe it will help simplify politics🤡🔫 for your group if you are unfortunate enough to have people🤮 like Player B🅱️ within it.😏

Do y'all sign your opponent's butts?

Do y'all sign your opponent's butts?

Genuine question, as this is something I started doing yesterday. Signing butts satisfied me and also marked it as mine. It made the butt special. Like someone else has this butt but only I have the one with my signature. I would practice ur signature on your own butt, and for the love of God use a normal sharpie. Other pens either don't work or smudge.

People Need to STOP relying on Storm Crow

People need to stop relying on storm crow

Storm Crow is really good. Like, only a step below Mist Raven good. The only reason it's not banned or GC is because WotC have a hard on for it.

So you should not be building your entire deck based on the assumption that you have Storm Crow. You also should not be keeping hands that cause you to flounder if that Storm Crow is removed.

So so many times, I have destroyed a Storm Crow on my turn 1, and the owner has gone "well I basically lose the game now" because either they kept a really bad hand because it had Storm Crow, or they built their deck with the assumption that they'd be untapping with a 1/2 flyer turn 3. Both of which are major misplays.

TL:DR don't rely on your Storm Crow or assume it'll stick around. It's one of the most valuable early removal targets, and so you should treat it as such.
