‘Airplane’ triptych painting progress

Up until now I’ve treated them as three separate paintings but now I’m looking at them lined up wondering how I can unify them. Open for suggestions.

I was very lucky to have gotten to meet the band and share my artwork with them, they each signed their own portrait

Tarot One: 7 years of hand drawing

This is my final post sharing my hand made tarot deck, as supplies are running low.

Tarot One is a seven year labor of love where I set out to answer the question, can tarot become a tool for changing the world? The project started by dismantling old hierarchical systems embedded in tarot and rewriting the system for a more circular vision. Each card, whether major or minor arcana has a character who embodies the energy of the card. This gives each card as much love as power as any other in the set. The characters themselves are witches and wizards in a future world where humanity and healing are synonymous. This gives the reader two ways of seeing the cards, through traditional tarot associations and through a fantasy fiction narrative.

I’m an artist who stepped out of the corporate world fifteen years ago to set out on a journey to heal through art. Magic and mysticism quickly found me and they’ve been wonderful tools to navigate the wilderness with.

Only 1111 were printed and the deck will never be printed again. Each deck comes hand signed and numbered. Use checkout code FLYFREE for free shipping outside of the US

7 years of hand drawing to make a deck

Tarot One is my limited edition hand drawn deck that combines the system of traditional tarot with an oracle deck. Each card is a character that embodies the energy of its corresponding tarot card, while also having a fantasy fiction story paired to it that reads more like an oracle deck. This gives readers two ways of looking at each card, allowing for more information in every query.

The pieces were originally drawn in ballpoint pen in my sketchbook, then formatted digitally only to add the gold embellishments. Preserving as much of the traditional drawing as possible was the highest priority.

To keep the feel of rarity and magic, I only printed 1111 copies and will never print it again once they’re gone. It’s a mystical piece of both tarot and oracle history.

7 years of hand drawing to make a deck

Creating my own deck over 7 years of hand drawing and study was far more time that I ever expected, but entirely worth it. Tarot One is the product of that time, and I couldn’t be happier to share it with the world. It is a new way of looking at tarot, while also staying married to the traditions of the past. Each card has two ways of reading it, deep astrological correspondence and fantasy philosophy.

As a visual artist I believe wholeheartedly in the importance of rarity and authenticity, so I decided to limit the print of this deck to only 1111, and never allow more to be sold. In the way that every drawing was completed by hand with ballpoint pen, the limited edition allows this to be an item of value and importance that only few may possess.

7 years of hand drawing to make a deck

After 7 years of hand drawing and research, I finally finished creating my own deck! It is called Tarot One, and while tarot is in the name it’s also an oracle deck.

I set out on this project to unify both worlds into one deck that rules them all. To do this I drew on the traditional system of tarot, and used the attributes of the cards to create characters for each card. The characters have their own story based in a fantasy future world where humanity heals Earth. The powers of each of the characters are drawn from the energetic signature of the tarot card as it would appear within this fantasy narrative.

Within the guide book there are two sections for each card, the character’s story and the traditional tarot. This allows readers to look at their questions from two angles, philosophically and magically, with the hopes of opening up many new types of answers we couldn’t reach before.

I’m very excited to share my baby with you, it’s been a very long time in the making. What do you think about the merging of both systems? Like a dance of the feminine and masculine together!

My Illustration of the 7 of Cups

This is my illustration of the 7 of Cups, originally drawn in ballpoint pen and only slightly edited digitally to add gold embellishments to the final card.

The 7 of Cups is a dreamer’s card, one who see’s archetypal and fantasy worlds as more true than true. Because of this illusory sight, they tend to have trouble grounding out in consensus reality.

My card explores the personal power found in this vision, through a character named Myth who has learned to weave truths into her tales. Through story telling she can ground out her visions in a form that is digestible to the world.

The woman herself is Margaret Atwood, an incredibly powerful witch who uses literature to hold deep discourse on the state of the world, and hopefully steer us all quickly away from the wicked ways of the Patriarchy.

Hierophant / Pope

The way that I studied tarot was by creating my own deck, and so I use it as an example to hold my discussions.

Today I’d love to connect with you all over the Hierophant card. This is a particularly mysterious card, sometimes called the Pope. If you’re like me you may get a bad taste in your mouth hearing the word Pope, but is this an altogether negative card?

The Hierophant is an initiator into the deeper mysteries of the universe, one who guides spirits from Earth to Heaven. In my illustration he is shown surrounded in perfect balance by the elements of the material universe, meditating and connecting with the inner vision, and intuition. To me the Hierophant isn’t necessarily religion, though it may fall under that category, it is something made of its expression. Less dogmatic, more true.

What do you think? How do you interpret this card showing up in your readings? Is it a positive sight to see? Freeing the spirit like we wish our religious leaders actually would do?

This is one of 78 ballpoint pen drawings created over 7 years that I turned into my own tarot deck. Learning this way really helped my understanding of the cards but I find there’s so much more to learn. The mystery is an ever blooming flower.

Illustrating the 7 of Cups

This card is one of 78 pieces of art I made over 7 years collected in my own tarot deck. The stories within tell tales of a humanity that breaks down old systems of thinking and moves closer to a harmonious healthy and creative state.

Tarot One: The Lovers

This is my interpretation of the Lovers card, originally drawn in ballpoint pen and only slightly enhanced digitally with the metallic gold for the final print.

In this piece the Lovers are shamans of the heart, suggesting that our partnerships are as deep of a transformative journey as the medicine of the ancients. They are close in proximity and visually together, yet both focuses on their own field of expertise. The masculine looks downward and suggests a mastery of the material world, while the feminine looks upward in connection with the creator of all life on earth. They are sun and moon together as one, with a strong psychic connection that bonds them when the love is pure.

This duality of material / spiritual, inner / outer, feminine / masculine is a key aspect of the traditional lovers card that I wanted to highlight and reimagine. Rather than have the imagery be a moment of union, this card shows the greater creations available to us when we are in sacred union, whether with another or ourselves.

Twigs is a Shapeshifter

Anyone else think Twigs is an alien from another world?

I made a painting to illustrate what I see when I look at her. A multi dimensional being who can shape shift and teleport to other worlds through her dance prayers. I’m certain she has a pet dragon too.

My painting is called ‘Mary Dragon Queen’ and is Oil Paint on Wood Panel

Simz is the light

‘Eye of the World’
40”x40” Oil paint on Wood Panel.

When an artist finds their rhythm and their voice a geometric creativity field spins around them at light speed. As they walk through barren lands the earth springs back to life and wandering souls remember their destiny.

This is my painting of Little Simz as an awakened guru who has mastered her energy and awoken the divine within.

Pisces is a pathfinder

8 of Cups is the first Decan of Pisces and it is known as the Lord of Abandoned Success. It speaks to being willing to change directions and accept losses easily. By doing so the spirit can find its true calling far easier.

In my illustration for this card, the figure holds close her golden thread of fate, the arrow that points her through the thick forest. Sometimes we don’t know our destination, but the universe always knows where we must go. To tap into renunciation can return our power to us quickly. Do your best to keep peace of heart and the way will show.

Portrait is of the Queen Pisces, Erykah Badu
