Web sitelerini ePUB'a ceviren Chrome eklentisi (Ben yaptim)

Herkese selamlar,

convert2epub

Burda asıl paylaşmak istediğim web sitelerini EPUB'a çeviren ücretsiz Chrome eklentim.

Deneyip yorum yaparsaniz cok sevinirim.

İstediğiniz siteyi ekleyebilirsiniz, her siteyi sırasıyla bir chapter olarak ayarlayabilirsiniz.

Chrome extension to convert webpages into one ePUB book.(I made it) Free with no limit.

Hey people,

If anyone saw my other post about converting scanned PDFs to EPUB, welcome back. I implemented a lot of features based on the feedback I got from the users, so check it out if you want. Anyways,

After building that, my friends said to me that they read a lot of stuff online[articles, newsletters, blogs] and bookmark them. They wanted a tool to read them offline, just the way they read their book, with a clean structure.

So I built a Chrome extension.

https://www.convert2epub.com/extension/

FEATURES

  • Add the current page from the toolbar popup or the right-click menu
  • Keep a running reading list; pages stay queued until you're ready to save
  • Drag to reorder chapters before you export
  • Give the book a custom title, or let it use the first page's title
  • Cover image and in-article images are pulled in automatically
  • Everything runs locally in your browser, no account, no external server
  • Works great with long-form articles, blog posts, and documentation pages

HOW IT WORKS

  1. Browse to a page you want to save and click "Add this page"
  2. Repeat for every page you want in the book
  3. Click "Save as EPUB"; your browser downloads a ready-to-read .epub file

Please try and tell me if you like it.

Made a PDF to EPUB converter that actually handles scanned books

Hey people,

My girlfriend started reading on her Kindle and kept converting PDFs and getting books she couldn't read properly. I am a software developer, so she always told me to make her a better conversion tool. For the past month, I dug into why other tools failed, researched how EPUB works, and how I can make it work.

So I built convert2epub.com. It’s free, and no account is needed for normal text conversions, only for the work done converting scanned pdf's. I posted the first version on r/kindle and got 500 upvotes, improved the first version based on the feedback, and now people are saying it's the best tool they have ever used.

Scans that were already read

Publishers often leave recognised text sitting invisibly on top of the page image. Most converters ignore it and hand back a book of photographs. This one finds that layer and uses it.

I tested this with a 300-page novel. The PDF had 426,904 characters of clean text inside it. Other converters ignored those characters and converted it to an EPUB that contained 637. It was a 20MB book of pictures.

That same book now comes out at 1.4MB with real, resizable text.

Formula/Code recognition

Mathematics is set in two dimensions and extraction reads in one, so a fraction arrives as a column of fragments. Equations are kept as drawn while the prose around them still reflows.

Your typography back

The first page becomes the cover, and the title and author are read from the file rather than left as a filename.

Removing watermarks and repeated title/footer.

Every page of a book repeats its title, author and page number in the margin. On paper, you never notice. Extract the text, and those become ordinary lines, so your reader flows them straight into the prose. Same for watermarks and adverts stamped onto free PDFs. In that same book, it was 778 stray lines across four repeating patterns. I added a feature to remove them.

When there is no text to recover, OCR reads the pages instead, in eight languages and only the pages that actually need it.

Made a PDF to EPUB converter that actually handles scanned books (free, no account)

My girlfriend started reading on her kindle for the past year and kept converting PDFs and getting books she couldn't read properly. I am a software developer so she always told me to make her a better conversion tool. For the past month, I dug into why other tools failed, researched how ePub works and other tools like Calibre, and tested a lot of PDFs.

So I built convert2epub.com. It’s free, and no account is needed. My girlfriend keeps saying this is worth something and is better than other tools online, so I want your opinion on this.

Scanned books often already contain their text, and most converters throw it away.

A lot of scanned PDFs have already been through OCR by whoever made them. That recognised text is stored invisibly, layered on top of the page images. The problem is that Calibre's PDF engines ignore invisible text. So you hand it a book that genuinely has 400,000 characters of perfectly good text in it, and it gives you back a file full of page photographs and reports success.

I tested this with a 286-page novel. The PDF had 426,904 characters of clean text inside it. Other converters ignored those characters, and the converted EPUB contained 637. It was a 20MB book of pictures.

That same book now comes out at 1.4MB with real, resizable text.

Removing watermarks and repeated title/footer.

Every page of a book repeats its title, author and page number in the margin. On paper you never notice. Extract the text and those become ordinary lines, so your reader flows them straight into the prose. Same for watermarks and adverts stamped onto free PDFs. On that same book it was 778 stray lines across four repeating patterns. I add a feature to remove them.

Page by page conversion.

Each page is judged separately; if the page has clear text, it is used, if the page does not have a text but an image of a text it will scan it to retrieve the text. If failed again an image of the page will be used so nothing will be lost. So one bad page will not cost you scanning the other hundreds of pages.

OCR available for scans with no text at all, in eight languages. But usually you won’t need it if the code can retrieve the text.

I hope this tool helps you, and I am waiting for your feedback about whether it worked for you the way you wanted to and would you pay for something like this.

Arsanin sanirim 3 kat izni vardi tam emin degilim karsi arsaya yeni 5 katli apartman dikildigi icin emin olamadim.

Arsayi simdi direkt satsak 3.5k'dan ortalama 31.5 milyon ediyor iste kisi basi 10milyon. Parselleyip satarsak 2 3 katina cikabilir. Sirketle anlassak ne olur bilemem.

Tavsiyelerinize acigim siz olsaniz ne yapardiniz satar miydiniz, ilerisi icin birakir miydiniz yoksa proje mi baslatirdiniz.

We made a website to raise funds for donations but we gamified it.

Hey guys, we made a website to raise funds for donations but we gamified it.

It's a collaborative pixel canvas where position is decided by money the top spender holds the center, everyone else spirals outward

The rule is simple: whoever paid the most is at the exact center, and every other tile spirals out from there in order. Nobody chooses their spot. When a bigger tile arrives, the canvas re-sorts and everything shifts outward in real time.

The amounts are hidden. You can only infer who paid what from how close to the middle they are. (There's a top 10 leaderboard if you want the actual numbers.)

Free to browse and zoom around, no account needed.

I built a pixel canvas where the biggest buyer sits in the center

I've always loved the story of the Million Dollar Homepage as the creator made the website to pay for his tuition fees so I got inspired from him and made this to pay for mine. Story: I finished my masters in CS with a first class degree but couldn’t graduate this July because I couldn’t pay the fees.

Anyways,

How it works: you buy a rectangle of pixels and fill it with pixel art, text, or an image. The twist is you don't pick where it goes. The highest paying tile sits at the dead center of the canvas, and everyone else spirals outward by how much they paid. So your position isn't permanent if someone outbids you, the whole canvas re-sorts and your tile physically slides outward. Amounts are hidden on the canvas itself, so you can only guess who paid what from where they sit. There's a top 10 leaderboard that does show the numbers.

Browsing is free, you can pan and zoom the whole thing without an account: thepixelorbit.com

Happy to answer anything about the packing algorithm or how it's built. Also genuinely want to hear what's confusing about it I've stared at this too long to see it clearly anymore.

conflict knowledge of gc's

I am a turkish cypriot and my greek cypriot friend invited me to protaras to have some drinks and while we were drinking I said you should come to north sometime and we will drink and go to beach etc. She said she is scared something might happen and its not safe for GC's. Then I said why are you scared if there is someone who should be scared is me and told her my grandfather was killed in Tochni where they massacred all the men in the village. and then I said I dont think I'm unsafe here and I dont have anything against greek cypriot neither my family. She said no such thing has happened and no turkish cypriot is killed at that times. I was really shocked about this do you not learn about these in school? Because in school or in family talk we learnt what both sides have suffered.

Sell or Rent?

I have a house worth about 100k+, the neighbour sold its exact house for 105 last week and I'm confident mine is worth more as I spent and improved it really well. Anyway, my question is I'm thinking of moving to someplace else and one of the option is rent it out which I think in the current market its around 600 a month. My concern is with insurance property tax and handling with renters this might not worth it. The other option is to sell and I can use that to diversify my money into different investments. I dont like that my 100k is locked in the current housing market.
