After several months of reverse engineering, testing, and refining, my Yakima Q4 replacement clips for the 924/944/928 are finally finished. They're based on 3D models of original Q4 clips and are direct drop-in replacements that let you bring your old Q Tower system back to life without hunting for impossible-to-find originals.
Complete Yakima Roof Rack Systems
Front Lift Spacers
Replacement Clips
Also, the DAE Technologies website is almost ready. It'll feature downloadable 3D scans, affordable CAD files, free STL files for common plastic parts, low-cost printed replacements, and technical resources for the 924/944/928 community.
If you want your parts installed before 944Fest, reserve them before July 31st while sale pricing and inventory last.
Bought a 92 240 with euro headlights and it is missing the passenger front turn signal. Any support is appreciated!
Check your thermostat to make sure it is operating correctly before you put it in and fill with coolant.
Found out my new thermostat was bad after spending a lot of time trying to bleed or figure out why it wouldnt cool properly.
Roof racks are coming back in stock middle of June. Limited supply so get them while theyre here.
Group buy style so if i get 5 people you save 5%. 10 people 10%, 20/15%, 30/20%, etc.
If you DMed me up before please shoot me a new DM so I know youre still interested.
New suppliers. Better quality. Lower prices. Crazy low prices honestly.
I dont just sell full racks anymore. I also sell just the 924/944 specific yakima clips (that one piece thats impossible to find!).
Ive got a TON of good used roof bike racks waiting to be mounted to your car and removed from my garage (my wife will thank you). All out of kayak racks as of now.
We can build your kit however youd like.
Should be finished launching the website tomorrow or Monday and it will have full options to build your own roof rack kit however youd like. From the basics of just clips up to the full Monty with a ready to go complete setup. New and used parts available depending on your price point and needs.
(P.s. when you buy through me directly from reddit or FB you'll save some $$)
(P.p.s. if youre local to upstate SC and swing by the shop id love to chat and load you up with free or super cheap roof rack parts).
As always thank you to everyone in the community who has supported my small business, given feedback, and helped me continue to build parts for the community I love.
And thanks to the customer who ordered this roof rack and sent me pictures of his rig. Sick livery. He also has my lift kit that im waiting to see installed..... you know who you are.
I do rapid prototyping mainly with automotive pieces. 3d printing, 3d scanning, drawing and tolerancing as a service. Built this car and it shows a lot of little bits that ive designed or built over the years.
Expanding my portfolio of skills.
Primeweld 225x (Gen1)
130cf 100% argon tank
Primarily stainless 306 / 0.060"
Need filler rod ( 308? )
Need electrodes (blue ?)
Need setup help on machine settings.
These are non structural lightweight brackets. Primarily doing tack welds. Nothing fancy just need two pieces to be one piece. They mechanically interlock and the tack is just to hold the interlock in place. Some 90 degree welds and some lap.
I am a full time mechanical engineer and have no time to go to trade school (kids, side business, etc).
Help me learn how to TIG effectively and quickly. If you are in or around Greenville SC and teach a class that i can pay you to tutor me please let me know.
Last time I touched a TIG rig was my internship at a race shop 6 years ago. I sucked at it but I tried. Two pieces became one. The electrode was one of the pieces most of the time. I built the whole car above with a flux welder and paid for welding on anything more critical.
TIA
Anybody got one for sale? USA. Looking for at least decent owner history.
TLDR. Chased a multi-month encoder board recognition error. AP board and HT board replacement fixed it. Multiple easier possible fixes discovered along the way (see below).
A few months ago I posted that my brand new (<100hrs) H2D would not recognize the OFFICIAL BAMBU Labs Encoder Plate.
To clarify: the printer would not recognize the plate and would throw an error. if the error was bypassed it would then complete the calibration successfully.
After multiple parts swaps my issue has finally been fixed (though it may have created another but we will figure that out soon enough)...
Step 1: Remove Protective Film
The vision encoder plate comes from the manufacturer with a very thin and hard to see protective film. this will cause similar errors to the one I was seeing.
Step 2: Ensure Encoder Plate does not have major surface damage.
The encoder calibration is looking at very small QR codes on the surface and counting the distance between specific ones in terms of motor steps. If one of these is destroyed visually it may cause issues.
Step 3: CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN
Clean the cameras
Clean the build plate
Clean printer is a happy printer
At this point you likely have a software or hardware issue.
Step 4: Factory Reset/Factory Recalibration
This may resolve the issue. didnt work for me but ive seen it recommended multiple times.
Step 5: Toolhead Camera Connection
You can pop off the top of the toolhead camera and check the connection on its back.
Step 6: Toolhead Camera Angle Adjustment
If the camera isnt pointing at the build plate it cant read the build plate. there are two small screws holding the camera to the toolhead. loosen them and adjust the angle either towards the front or the back (and then the opposite) to find the center. This is a good place to start and trial different angles.
Step 7: Toolhead Camera Replacement
This is an annoying 1hr task that may fix the issue if the camera is having an internal problem.
Step 8/9: AP Board and HT Board Replacement
These control a number of the power and thinking functions within the toolhead and the printer as a whole. I dont fully understand what each does but this ended up working for me. This was a 4hr procedure and requires customer service to recode your new boards to your printer so it can be rebound to your account.
Feel free to ask questions. if this post gains some traction I can update it with pictures to show each of the steps of my multi-month deep dive with customer service.
