What is the scientifically best grading method?
There is lots of discourse about grading practices especially in the US with stuff like no zeros and that the lowest grade that one can get is a 50% even if they don’t turn things in. So what does the science say on how we should be grading students
What is the strongest library card that you can get?
I am thinking about this in a passport sense, what library card gives you the most perks and access. What card has the most reciprocal agreements with other libraries.
Unruly with non natives, leave it be as untouched habitat or rip out anything not native?
I have false sunflowers, bee balm, liatris, coneflower, other milkweed species that are in their first years so no blooms from them. I also have a few volunteer asters growing in here as well, although I’m not sure what type they are. All are growing as expected and are not being smothered out by any of the grasses. This area had a rabbits nest earlier in the year and I frequently see rabbits darting out when I approach.
Also enjoy the visitors, I’ve had a couple monarch butterflies visit but have not seen any eggs or caterpillars.

The National Mall today Wed July 15, 2026
First photo: West of Washington Monument looking east. The turf is completely torn up. I hope this is slated for restoration soon. Must be damage from the fireworks.
Second photo: The reflecting pool today. Completely empty. Fences along the sides go all the way to the sidewalks, with tarps so we can't see into the area, but I'm not sure why when you can get these photos from the Lincoln Memorial. There were a lot of surveyor's tools (total stations/theodolites) surveying the site. I wonder why they would need tools to measure distances and elevation when they're just talking about resurfacing the liner. hmmmm.
Third photo: a bit off the mall at East Potomac Park Golf Course. The giant lump is the site of the debris dump from the East Wing of the White House. It's been there long enough that it's growing grasses. The Department of the Interior has posted no information on planned removal of the debris. The National Park Service has no information either.

wbaltv.comAre Milkweed Rhizomes still viable after herbicide application?
My brother in law bought a house that had several patches of milkweed throughout the property and in the garden beds to the point that several of them became exclusively common milkweed. I went through in May and dug up the milkweed in the flower beds. However I left accidentally left some chunks of rhizome that have since sprouted in the bed again. He went through and sprayed the new shoots with some sort of herbicide and the shoots have since turned brown. Is there any hope of going back and salvaging the rhizomes if I go back and dig up it up again?

westminster-wire.comIWTL how to love Math
Science and History have always been my favorite subjects especially life sciences. Now I am out of school and still love learning about each of these subjects but math is so intertwined in science that it is hard to ignore it. I always did fine in math during school, always got A’s but never really cared or fell in love with it outside of doing just enough to get the grade I wanted. I enjoy learning about scientists and the early discoveries of math through various YouTubers like 3 Blue 1 Brown and Veratasium along with engineering marvels from bridges to all types of stuff with space, the building of nuclear weapons, cryptology and espionage. I think by learning the math I will be able to better connect with these subjects and even give me something to do by sitting down and solving it like a puzzle but I just can’t love it outside of what I’ve done in the past, do just enough, know just enough to pass without understanding the what or the why of what I am doing. Part of that may be the math was never made applicable for something that I might be interested in even getting into advanced calculus classes. I will always be a science and history person first and foremost but I would like to learn to love doing math.
