Little to no experience in compensation management but being tasked with managing compensation infrastructure (pay equity, benchmarking, and salary band modeling), what resources can I use to help? [NJ]

I started a new role and this was originally supposed to be managed be another open role but that roles scope changed. My manager knows I have experience with comp through my old role and tasked me with supporting this project.

Basically all I used to do is use a program called PayScale to gather market data, and help determine what Tier the job title should be and work with the HM on the job description/role scope.

Can someone please provide me with resources I could use, whether that be general knowledge about comp management, or direct advice/info on how to build a comp system?

Cheapest chicken/rice bowls or chicken over rice plates?

what’s the cheapest spot for a chicken and rice bowl in the neighborhood? I just need protein and carbs for the gym. i have too many roommates/too little time in the day to cook.

I’m tired of going to the Tajeen Halal cart and them trying to charge me $13 cause I dont have cash for a chicken over rice plate that gives me diahreah for 2 days

At what point do nights drinking/going out effect gains?

I usually drink pretty heavy every Saturday. And I sometimes go out on Friday and Saturday.

Is drinking once a week going to limit muscle gains/repair/hypertrophy? i’m sure two times a week would.

How do you list a recent promotion on your resume when your responsibilities haven't changed?

I was just promoted to a great new title, but I'm worried it could actually make my resume look worse.

The issue is that I don't have any new responsibilities yet, I'm doing the exact same work as before. On my resume, I listed most of my current responsibilities under my new title, but I'm not sure if it looks like I've only been doing these jobs for a week, even though I've been doing them for years.

What's the best way to represent a recent promotion on a resume? Is it implied that this is usually the case for recent promotions?

Hiring manager already just accepted my LinkedIn request, should I send her a message? The issue is I *may* have emailed her already

A couple days ago, I applied to a job that is an incredible fit for me, at a company I would love to be at. The hiring manager just accepted my request on LinkedIn and I’m considering sending her a message.

The issue is, I may have already emailed her? After I applied, I took a shot in the dark and sent an email to two variations of her first name/initial and last name with the company email domain at the end (I may have also tried to reach the HR distro). I have no idea of knowing if I reached her or not.

Should I send her a message on LinkedIn as well? If so, what do you think I should say? I don’t wanna be too pushy, but I also can’t see how it can hurt me? Maybe here I can inquire about if they’re still hiring for the role and just express my interest in learning more about the company culture?

I’d really appreciate any insight.

Resources/services for building resume (looking to branch out of generalist role) [NY]

I've been in more of a generalist HR role for the past 4 years, and I'm ready to start exploring new positions and companies.

Fortunately, I've had the opportunity to work across a wide range of HR functions, and I have strong experience in several areas. The challenge is that I need to tailor my resume toward a specific specialty, like Benefits, People Operations, HRIS, or another niche, instead of presenting myself as a generalist.

I have a solid resume, but I'm struggling with how to give it a clearer direction.

Unfortunately, most of my HR contacts are at my current company, so I don't have many people I can ask for advice.

What resources could I take advantage of (asides from AI). I’d be willing to pay for certain services as well if they can really help with resumes/HR career path advice.

How to feel like I’m not missing out on the city and when I don’t have anyone to hang out with

I’m definitely blessed to have a lot of friends in the city, however, lots of weekends my friends aren’t in the city, and for the most part all my friends do is work Monday through Friday, and only go out to bars Fri and Sat night.

I like to go for walks, and see what people are up to and always feel like I’m missing out when I see a big group of friends eating outside, or going to a show.

The typical advice I feel like I would get is just do what I wanna do, but I don’t have any strong or innate passions. I genuinely just like spending time with my friends and family.

I am able to invest $500 a month, know what stocks and ETFs I want, and what brokerage I want to use, but am not sure "how" to purchase the stocks

I am able to invest around $500 a month. I want to get ETFs like VOO, QQQ, VXUS, VIG, etc. and individual stocks like JPM, KO, AAPL, GOOG, AMZN, and I'll probably use FIDELITY as my brokerage/app.

However, I have no idea how I should go about purchasing the stocks.

What I mean by that is many of these stocks cost over $500 alone. So should I buy a singular share of VOO at a time? Or should buy like $50 worth of VOO, $50 worth of QQQ, $50 worth of AAPL, etc. a month? Can I buy like a percentage of each stock?

I'm pretty confused on this front.

Receiving my employer's full 401k match and have a half year's salary in a HYSA. Is my next step investing in ETFs or a ROTH IRA? I am able to invest around $1,000 a month

I'm currently getting my employer's full 401(k) match and have about six months' worth of expenses saved in a high-yield savings account.

I can invest around $1,000 per month going forward.

Should my next priority be maxing out a Roth IRA, or investing in ETFs and strong individual stocks?

I've heard the ROTH is a good thing, but I hate how much money I already have trapped in my 401k until I'm 60.

Five years at my first Human Resources role and I'm not sure what comes next [NY]

After graduating from college, I started an HR internship that turned into a full time role, and I've now been with the same company for five years.

Lately, I've been feeling like I'm falling behind compared to my friends and peers. I also feel ready for a fresh start. I've started applying for new roles, and while I'm still early in the process, I'm optimistic that the right opportunity is out there.

Looking at job postings has made me realize I'm not entirely sure how to define my current role or what the next step is.

I'd probably describe myself as an HR generalist with a strong focus on Benefits Administration and HR operations. A lot of my work is administrative and execution focused. I manage the entire onboarding process (minus recruiting), administer benefits (new hire enrollments, qualifying life events, emails, employee questions), oversee our leave of absence programs, handle the administrative side of offboarding, manage our HRIS, am the main point of contact for all reporting, reconcile carrier bills, and so much much much more.

So much of what I do I'd call "heavy lifting" or "execution" and not strategy or development. I don't have much exposure to workforce planning, employee relations (minus benefit, LOA, or onboarding and offboarding gripes), organizational development, or talent acquisition/recruiting.

I'm not sure if a HRBP role is in the deck?

I'm trying to figure out what the best next step is. What kind of roles I should be applying for, what I should be trying to do in my current role, etc.

I'd really appreciate any advice.
