Despite how many times I change my setting, these guys keep appearing
Is this name offensive? If so, what should it be instead?
I’m currently working on a ttrpg, and im concerned one of the character creation options might have an offensive name to it, so I want feedback on what i should do:
For context, this is a subclass for a class called the omen. Omens are physical representations of disasters. When an Omen is born, it’s the sign of mass destruction for the civilization they come from. As such, the subclasses for Omens, called their “Disaster” are representative of what kind of end times they represent.
With that explained, the subclass im worried about being problematic is called the holocaust. It’s not based off *The* Holocaust, but is rather a disaster representing the horrors of war. The Holocaust subclass is about military, weapons of mass destruction, and especially nuclear annihilation. The name is (outside of the form definition of the word) literally based on the term “Nuclear Holocaust”.
With that said, I’m worried about this coming off offensively. I know that the holocaust itself was an absolute tragedy, that is still a touchy topic to this day, and I don’t want to come off as making fun of it or anything. I’ve tried to come up with other names for it like “the immolation”, but nothing feels as fitting. Should i just go with the name and insist it’s not meant to be based off the tragedy itself, or is there a better name to give for this subclass?
Outside of a subatomic level, what does the weak nuclear force do?
I’m writing a magic system based on the four fundamental forces, and Ive ran into 2 primary issues doing it. One is that so, so much is governed by electromagnetism, but the other is I can’t find much to tie to the weak nuclear force. From my research, it governs radiation and nuclear fusion, but I’m trying to find more things to tie it to. What else could i assign to the weak nuclear force, that would go beyond subatomic changes to particles?
Funny thing: make the worst system you can think of out of other systems
You can go about this with whatever categories you want, but personally my best so far is:
Character options of 5e
Enemy design of lancer
Combat system of CofD
Simplicity of shadowrun
Ease of running of MnM
Lore/setting of FATE
Bonus points if you avoid blatantly awful systems like fatal/focus on using systems you think are good
I’ve recently found my new favorite sandwich to order at subway, and to both satisfy my new craving and cut costs on fast food I’ve decided I want to try to replicate and innovate on the recipe at home. Part of the sandwich includes rotisserie chicken, but I don’t have a rotisserie at home, and I’m hard on cash to invest into one. What other methods of cooking chicken could i try to get a similar taste to rotisserie chicken?
