Collection for sale - South Wales

BIG OL' COLLECTION FOR SALE - PICKUP ONLY FROM SOUTH WALES

£250 but open to offers

Well, the time has come, as it must eventually come to us all. I'm moving home, and finally ditching my 2000AD collection. It's been an honour and a privilege to serve with it.

I'm in a bit of rush so I've not had time to go through it all, but there are at a conservative estimate 600 or so issues. As well as this, there are a whole load of Magazine, Best Of, Specials, Yearbooks and Xtreme issues, too. 6 big (and heavy) boxes in all, in varying condition but mostly good.

As I've said, I haven't had time to go through it all, but here are the runs that I can definitely see:

2000AD

695-853

1500-1869

2330-2426

Meg Vol. 2

1-62

Plus a whole lot of more, including progs, modern Megazines, subscriber incentives, some FCBD issues and likely other random surprises within. Loads of X-Treme and Best of issues containing entire stories, so it'll keep you busy for ages.

It's breaking my heart to get rid of it, but I need it gone ASAP. Collection only from Barry, South Wales. It'll need to be gone by the end of the month. Thanks for looking!

Are there any art forms which don't exist any more?

The French painter Paul Delaroche was purported to have said, upon seeing his first daguerreotype photograph, "From today, painting is dead!". Similarly, some current artists fear being rendered obsolete by AI image generators.

The painting obviously persisted, and continues to live alongside photography as a fairly common form of artistic expression. It's uncertain at the moment how AI will affect art in the long run, but I imagine it will persist in some way.

What I am asking is, has any art form been made almost entirely obsolete by a technical advancement? People obviously continue to pursue practically outmoded techniques as a form of leisure (such as knitting), but some are so impractical that they have completely died out (painting on the wall of a cave with pigment made of animal blood is essentially pointless now that paper exists).

Are there any more examples of art forms that are almost completely lost?

Random panel from a comic I'm drawing

From book 2 of 'A Debt to the Ceaseless Reaper'

Does anybody have any advice on a background? The middle feels empty but I'm not sure what to do about it!

How many times has Frank died?

I'm trying to think about all of the comics I've read in which Frank has been killed off, permanently or otherwise. It seems like a lot, but for a regular human who gets in as many gunfights as he does, then I guess the number is low. Alternate reality stories count too!

Here are the ones I can think of:

Punisher: The End (succumbs to radiation poisoning and nuclear fire)

The Punisher Kills the Marvel Universe (suicide after completing his mission of, yes, killing the Marvel universe)

Punisher MAX - Jason Aaron run (riddled with bullets after a final, decisive gun battle with Wilson Fisk)

Dark Reign (decapitated by Daken)

Can anybody think of any more? What's your favourite?

I'm on PS5 - should I get Survival: Fountain of Youth, Bellwright or Icarus?

Or something else?

All 3 of these are a similar price at the moment. I love survival games, and am looking for a new one to get lost in. For context, I loved:

The Forest, V Rising, Subnautica

I liked:

Grounded, Stranded Deep

I didn't like:

Green Hell - couldn't get to grips with the controls.

Abiotic Factor - Didn't like being inside, I want to build!

I want a good feeling of progression, and never to feel directionless. I like exploration. I don't want to go too insanely hardcore in terms of difficulty. I like an ending, but am not averse to an endless world ie. Icarus. Help me decide please, I'm too indecisive!

Thanks so much in advance

(Mainly 90s/2000s trope) A random unrelated celebrity cameos in a movie and does the main character a solid

  1. Chuck Norris in Dodgeball - Chuck is revealed to be a judge at the Dodgeball tournament and his mighty thumb turns the verdict in the favour of the Average Joes. "Fuckin' Chuck Norris".

  1. The Hoff in SpongeBob Squarepants the Movie - Hasselhoff transports SpongeBob and Patrick across the ocean jetski-style on his broad back.

  1. Billy Idol in The Wedding Singer - Billy Idol somehow galvanises the crew and passengers in the first-class section of a plane, allowing Adam Sandler to perform a love song over the PA, winning the hearts of both Drew Barrymore and the audience.

  1. Lance Armstrong, also in Dodgeball - On the verge of quitting the Dodgeball tournament, Vince Vaughan finds himself chatting with Lance, who offers a few sagely words on the values of honesty, good sportsmanship and endurance. This one is retroactively made 100X funnier by Lance's later doping scandal and his leaving the sport in disgrace.

Any songs or bands that sound like "Somebody Kill Me" from The Wedding Singer?

Is there any music around like this? I know it's a stupid joke song but I genuinely like the quiet/loud dynamic, yelled vocals and general air of pathetic despondency. Hit me up!

What other movie or TV mystery would you like to see Mulder & Scully investigate?

I was just fantasising about how incredibly hard an X-Files/Backrooms crossover would go. I'd also love to see Mulder and Scully investigating the Nightmare on Elm Street murders.

These two concepts would have slid so nicely into The X-Files canon, in my opinion. What other mysteries would you love to see Mulder and Scully tackle?

I've got some absolute nonsense filling up my long boxes. Anybody else read this one? I have the full 3-issue run.
