Jackson Telecaster? What's the deal here? Fake? Or rare?

Saw this for sale. Not really interested in buying it, but I'm intrigued if this is even a thing. What's the deal here?

Had an interesting mirror match yesterday...

I was playing Kuni yesterday in QM, when I matched with another. I usually one and done mirror matches but this particular opponent intrigued me after one game so I rematched (as did he).

What made this mirror match so interesting was that it was like playing against myself. Same tendencies, same flowcharts, same setups, same everything. The only thing different was our combo enders (he prefers wake up mixups, I prefer oki). But all else? It was a mirror match in the truest sense of the word.

It was both fascinating and frustrating. I'm kinda bummed I had to leave after 4 matches because my wife was calling me. It was weird, but fun.

Any Severo Headless guitar owners? (or headless guitars in general)

And first time ko to actually sit down and try one.

Sa mga owners ng Severo headless, sulit ba sya? Or may better alternatives ba sa price range nya? I'm sure mas ok mga mas mahal na brands, pero I'm leaning toward the affordable tier Kasi for sure pang bahay/travel ko lang sya and di ko gamitin for gigs. Maybe recording since perfect din size nya for desktop use. I have several guitars, but never had a headless one.

My 13yo shreds harder than I ever did...

My son want to learn neoclassical, so I suggested studying Jason Becker. Here he is a couple of weeks in learning sweep picking.

What pickups come with the Epiphone Goth V?

I got a Goth Flying V a couple of weeks ago for a steal. I already have an LTD arrow so I thought of flipping the guitar. But when I played it, it sounded soooo good that it looks like I'll keep it. I'm justifying it because the Goth has 22 frets and the Arrow a Floyd and 24 frets.

Anyway, I only opened it up today (what a pain!). I cleaned the electronics and added new springs to the pups because they were rattling. I saw the pickups had Gibson USA engraved under (which was probably why it sounded better than my other Epi SG's stock pickups).

So my question, what kind of pickups are they? I love how warm the neck pup sounds, while the bridge is very aggressive. The neck pup alone justifies me keeping it since the Arrow has EMGs.

EMG MF set on my GC2.6?

I love my Solar. Best feeling guitar I've ever held. Pickups are very chuggy. But I'd like to make it my main guitar, so am planning to put in the MF set for more versatility.

Question, will it fit? Because it's direct mounted, I'm afraid the MF set might not be a drop-in replacement.

Thanks you!

Why my Mockingbird is my favorite guitar

I have several guitars. Some with 22 frets, some with 24 frets. Some with 25.5" scale, others with 24.75" scale. All HH.

I always use the neck pickup for lead because of the warm, round tone compared to the bridge. However, with 24 fret guitars, the difference is minimal. Because of that, if I want a warm lead tone I use my 22 fret guitars. If I need access to higher frets, I use my 24 fret guitars. I always thought that's how it will always be.

Then I got my Mockingbird.

Because of the shorter scale, even with 24 frets, the neck pickup sounds closer to a 22 fret guitar. I thought it was just the pickups, but I noticed the same when I swapped to EMGs. Now my Mockingbird is my most used guitar. The neckthrough design that gives easy access to the full 24 frets plus the neck pickup tone of a 22 fret guitar makes it the best of both worlds.

Unplanned NGD. Too cheap to pass up!

Found this Epi Goth V in the marketplace for about $160. Condition is very good! Except for some grounding in the bridge pickup, all is as it should be.

NGD: Does this count?

Went to Hong Kong. Saw this on sale for about $500. Snapped it right up. It's a Grassroots though, does this count?

Evo Singapore and Twt?

I don't get it. Twt finals will be held at Evo Singapore? Or will they both run concurrently? So no Tekken 8 in Evo Singapore? Or the twt finals is the tekken 8 event there? Or will there be a separate tekken 8 event?

I'm confused.

Pickup upgrade for the Exotic Classic

Upgraded to EMG 85/81's from the stock Rockfield Mafias. The sound now perfectly matches the pointiness. I love it.

Thinking of getting a Grassroots G-Arrow NT, are these good guitars?

Been looking for V style guitar. Wanted a Jackson RR24xt but saw that the Arrow looked more comfortable to play in the upper frets (both neckthrough/set through, but the Arrow has a slight cutaway and a contoured heel).

The Jackson is selling for about 550usd used. While the Grassroots is about 650usd brand new. Both are hardtails versions. Should I go for the Grassroots? Or is it overpriced? The LTD version is about $400 more here and harder to find.

King V/Rhoads, Kelly, or Soloist for neoclassical style?

So my son is learning neoclassical, so I did too. We're both learning Jason Becker's Serrana arpeggios and we find it a tad difficult to play the arpeggios on the upper frets. The neckthrough that we have is the Mockingbird exotic classic. Lovely upper fret access, but being a 24.65 scale guitar, it gets quite cramped. We also have a set neck in the Solar gc2.6, again, lovely upper fret access but being a single cut makes 5-6 string arpeggios on the upper frets hard. Short scale too, so still a little cramped.

I'm now choosing between a V-style guitar, Kelly (both models with neckthrough), or a Soloist. I'm close to getting a soloist, but I've heard so much about the upper fret access and comfort of a V style guitar. Kelly, it looks like it has nice upper fret access too (and we're both Marty Friedman fans). I want a Jackson because their neck profiles are my favorite.

So for neoclassical with 5-6 string sweeping arpeggios up to the 24th fret, which would be the best model?

BTW, we only got to try a soloist (which we loved). Because the Kellys and King Vs we see in stores here are js32s. Which are nice guitars, but the bolt on heels make upper fret access difficult. I would love to test them all, but it's very difficult where I'm from.

First Ibanez. First guitar with Floyd. How do I improve the sustain?

I got myself an rg470 but find myself not playing it much because I don't like the sustain. I only use it when I want to mess with the tremolo, but other than that, it just hangs on my wall.

My other guitars are all hardtail. All TOM bridges. Set necks and neck throughs, and one bolt on. I understand that hardtails should get more sustain (as do neckthroughs but my bolt on begs to differ).

Anyway, my Ibanez has bad sustain. It won't be as good as my other guitars, but I don't believe it should be this bad. When I play a note on my other guitars, it rings out 10-12 seconds. Playing the same note in the Ibanez gives me 5 secs. Even if I cheat and vibrato with the Ibanez and not with the others.

How do I improve this? I changed to new strings, I set the Floyd bridge properly, had the pickup Heights lowered (to around 2.2mm). What am I missing?

Is the LTD MH-417 a good first 7-string?

I just got into metal this year. Mostly lead playing, but wanting to get into serious djent. I was looking for a nice, affordable 7-string for the past few weeks when I saw a used LTD MH-417 come up for sale. It looks nice, knobs have some rust on them, but the bridge and tuners are in good shape.

I'm not sure if I'll stick with a 7-string, but the LTD seems like a good deal at around $370. The neckthrough is a huge deal for me too. Ever since I got one, all my subsequent guitars have been neckthroughs.

Is the guitar worth it for a first-timer? Or should I get a much cheaper one first to see if I stick with 7-strings?

Wanted black dots, got blue. Son think it looks weird, I think the subtle color makes it look cool.

I'm planning to change the white dot inlays of my guitar. Bought some dot inlay decals to see how it would look before making the permanent change. My original plan was to change it to black (inspired by a post I saw of someone having it done on their guitar). However, seller sent me dark blue dots instead. Put it on anyway. My son thinks it looks weird, I think the subtle color makes it look cool. (I'm colorblind though so I could definitely be wrong).

Now I'm thinking to have it changed to dark blue abalone dots instead of my initial plan of plain black. Thoughts?

Upgrade options for my Mockingbird Exotic Classic?

I got a Mockingbird Exotic Classic for cheap, which gives me justification to spend a bit to upgrade it.

I want to upgrade its pups, but I don't know much about pickups. I play jazz, some blues (though I can use another guitar for those) and metal. Mostly lead stuff (think Marty Friedman's solo work). What pickups will be a good fit? Of course with the pickups, a full electronics upgrade is included.

I also want to have it refretted. I want to put SS frets on it. Given the short scale length, what size is recommended? I'm afraid jumbo frets might make the upper frets too crowded.

Aside from those, maybe the tuners too since a couple of them are stiff now. So I'm thinking locking tuners. The TOM bridge and tail is in good shape so I'm guessing no need to swap those out. It already has a graphite nut too. So tuners, pups, and frets?

My Mockingbird made me a BC Rich fan.

I've been playing guitar for 35 years, and I never once gave BC Rich much thought. Fast forward to last month when I saw this Mockingbird Exotic Classic for sale for about $400. The seller was 5mins away from me so I went and checked it out anyway

It had problems so was able to haggle down to about $165, so I got it thinking it'll look nice as wall decor at least.

Got home, opened it up. Resoldered some wires, stretched the strings, and cleaned it up. Now it's my favorite guitar! It plays so nice!

My main and only axes for 25 years.

These two Epis and I have been through a lot. Bar gigs, record demos, record two albums, toured with me, small venue to big venue gigs, photoshoots, etc. Taught my daughter guitar on them, then my son.

I got the SG second hand for about $150, while the acoustic was about $500 brand new. Both are worth a lifetime of memories today.

Swapped the stock pickups with SD JB/Jazz clones...

I wanted to swap the pickups on my Monarkh Js22, but couldn't justify legit Seymour Duncans on it cause if I did, the pickups would be more expensive than the guitar.

I got myself the Fleor Alnico V Humbuckers instead, a clone of the JB/Jazz set. Thought it wouldn't be much of a upgrade, but I was wrong. Lead tones now ring out clearer, while still keeping the chug. The stock pickups can be too hot, leading to muddiness, so despite the cheap swap, this is definitely an upgrade sonically (for me at least).
