NGD: Does this count?
Went to Hong Kong. Saw this on sale for about $500. Snapped it right up. It's a Grassroots though, does this count?

I don't get it. Twt finals will be held at Evo Singapore? Or will they both run concurrently? So no Tekken 8 in Evo Singapore? Or the twt finals is the tekken 8 event there? Or will there be a separate tekken 8 event?
I'm confused.
Upgraded to EMG 85/81's from the stock Rockfield Mafias. The sound now perfectly matches the pointiness. I love it.
Been looking for V style guitar. Wanted a Jackson RR24xt but saw that the Arrow looked more comfortable to play in the upper frets (both neckthrough/set through, but the Arrow has a slight cutaway and a contoured heel).
The Jackson is selling for about 550usd used. While the Grassroots is about 650usd brand new. Both are hardtails versions. Should I go for the Grassroots? Or is it overpriced? The LTD version is about $400 more here and harder to find.
So my son is learning neoclassical, so I did too. We're both learning Jason Becker's Serrana arpeggios and we find it a tad difficult to play the arpeggios on the upper frets. The neckthrough that we have is the Mockingbird exotic classic. Lovely upper fret access, but being a 24.65 scale guitar, it gets quite cramped. We also have a set neck in the Solar gc2.6, again, lovely upper fret access but being a single cut makes 5-6 string arpeggios on the upper frets hard. Short scale too, so still a little cramped.
I'm now choosing between a V-style guitar, Kelly (both models with neckthrough), or a Soloist. I'm close to getting a soloist, but I've heard so much about the upper fret access and comfort of a V style guitar. Kelly, it looks like it has nice upper fret access too (and we're both Marty Friedman fans). I want a Jackson because their neck profiles are my favorite.
So for neoclassical with 5-6 string sweeping arpeggios up to the 24th fret, which would be the best model?
BTW, we only got to try a soloist (which we loved). Because the Kellys and King Vs we see in stores here are js32s. Which are nice guitars, but the bolt on heels make upper fret access difficult. I would love to test them all, but it's very difficult where I'm from.
I got myself an rg470 but find myself not playing it much because I don't like the sustain. I only use it when I want to mess with the tremolo, but other than that, it just hangs on my wall.
My other guitars are all hardtail. All TOM bridges. Set necks and neck throughs, and one bolt on. I understand that hardtails should get more sustain (as do neckthroughs but my bolt on begs to differ).
Anyway, my Ibanez has bad sustain. It won't be as good as my other guitars, but I don't believe it should be this bad. When I play a note on my other guitars, it rings out 10-12 seconds. Playing the same note in the Ibanez gives me 5 secs. Even if I cheat and vibrato with the Ibanez and not with the others.
How do I improve this? I changed to new strings, I set the Floyd bridge properly, had the pickup Heights lowered (to around 2.2mm). What am I missing?
I just got into metal this year. Mostly lead playing, but wanting to get into serious djent. I was looking for a nice, affordable 7-string for the past few weeks when I saw a used LTD MH-417 come up for sale. It looks nice, knobs have some rust on them, but the bridge and tuners are in good shape.
I'm not sure if I'll stick with a 7-string, but the LTD seems like a good deal at around $370. The neckthrough is a huge deal for me too. Ever since I got one, all my subsequent guitars have been neckthroughs.
Is the guitar worth it for a first-timer? Or should I get a much cheaper one first to see if I stick with 7-strings?
I'm planning to change the white dot inlays of my guitar. Bought some dot inlay decals to see how it would look before making the permanent change. My original plan was to change it to black (inspired by a post I saw of someone having it done on their guitar). However, seller sent me dark blue dots instead. Put it on anyway. My son thinks it looks weird, I think the subtle color makes it look cool. (I'm colorblind though so I could definitely be wrong).
Now I'm thinking to have it changed to dark blue abalone dots instead of my initial plan of plain black. Thoughts?
I got a Mockingbird Exotic Classic for cheap, which gives me justification to spend a bit to upgrade it.
I want to upgrade its pups, but I don't know much about pickups. I play jazz, some blues (though I can use another guitar for those) and metal. Mostly lead stuff (think Marty Friedman's solo work). What pickups will be a good fit? Of course with the pickups, a full electronics upgrade is included.
I also want to have it refretted. I want to put SS frets on it. Given the short scale length, what size is recommended? I'm afraid jumbo frets might make the upper frets too crowded.
Aside from those, maybe the tuners too since a couple of them are stiff now. So I'm thinking locking tuners. The TOM bridge and tail is in good shape so I'm guessing no need to swap those out. It already has a graphite nut too. So tuners, pups, and frets?
I've been playing guitar for 35 years, and I never once gave BC Rich much thought. Fast forward to last month when I saw this Mockingbird Exotic Classic for sale for about $400. The seller was 5mins away from me so I went and checked it out anyway
It had problems so was able to haggle down to about $165, so I got it thinking it'll look nice as wall decor at least.
Got home, opened it up. Resoldered some wires, stretched the strings, and cleaned it up. Now it's my favorite guitar! It plays so nice!
These two Epis and I have been through a lot. Bar gigs, record demos, record two albums, toured with me, small venue to big venue gigs, photoshoots, etc. Taught my daughter guitar on them, then my son.
I got the SG second hand for about $150, while the acoustic was about $500 brand new. Both are worth a lifetime of memories today.

I wanted to swap the pickups on my Monarkh Js22, but couldn't justify legit Seymour Duncans on it cause if I did, the pickups would be more expensive than the guitar.
I got myself the Fleor Alnico V Humbuckers instead, a clone of the JB/Jazz set. Thought it wouldn't be much of a upgrade, but I was wrong. Lead tones now ring out clearer, while still keeping the chug. The stock pickups can be too hot, leading to muddiness, so despite the cheap swap, this is definitely an upgrade sonically (for me at least).
Wife bought me a guitar for my bday. I was supposed to get a Gibson Modern Studio, but while trying out the guitars on display, me and my son decided to check out the Solar. And man... We loved it the second we held it in our hands. The playability, the tone, the finish, and the looks. I admit I initially wanted the Gibson because of the name, but the Solar just felt right in my (our) hands. Wife was pleased cause it was cheaper, but no regrets here!
Here it is on the pointy guitar section of my wall.

A good friend and luthier is offering me this guitar. Set-up and plek'd by Grover Jackson himself he says. I have no idea what it is, but it looks pretty mean in a delicate way, if that makes sense.
What is it?
