https://imagecomics.com/press-releases/image-comics-first-ever-audiobook-radiant-black-is-now-available

The massively popular Radiant Black series is the first Image Comics title to be adapted for an audiobook. Radiant Black: The Audiobook, Volume One is available now and features a full voice cast headlined by Rider Strong (Boy Meets World, Cabin Fever) and Will Friedle (Boy Meets World, Batman Beyond) playing leads Nathan Burnett and Marshall Ward, respectively. Fans can find it on Spotify, LibroFM, and Everand now and soon on Audible, Overdrive, and wherever audiobooks are sold. For more updates about availability on various platforms, visit: http://radiant.black/audiobook.

The audiobook, produced by Black Market Narrative, is written, directed, and narrated by Radiant Black co-creator and Massive-Verse architect, Kyle Higgins. It features cinematic sound design by Higgins and an original score from The Walking Dead co-composer, Sam Ewing. It is the first ever audiobook adaptation of an Image Comics title.

For fans and listeners who want to go deeper, Black Market Narrative has also produced Radiant Black: The Audiobook, Volume One - The Deluxe Edition, available DRM-free exclusively through the Black Market Narrative storefront. It retails for $34.99 and includes:

DRM-free, high-quality M4B and AAC editions of the audiobook

Radiant Black: The Audiobook, Volume One is the first in a planned series of audiobook adaptations from Black Market Narrative and Image Comics, adding another level of immersion to the critically and commercially acclaimed Massive-Verse.

“When Eric Stephenson and Lorelei Bunjes first pitched me the idea of doing Radiant Black in audio, I knew that to do it right would be a huge undertaking,” said Higgins. “This project has been a true labor of love for our team. From assembling our amazing cast to recording, design, narration, score, and our final mix, this has been an incredible experience at every turn. I never thought I would be back in the world of audio, but to be able to work in one of my favorite mediums and take advantage of all the possibilities it affords has been more than worth it.

“A huge shoutout and thank you to everyone who contributed to this—from our incredible cast to so many people behind the scenes, thank you so much. I’m so excited we finally get to share this with the world. And now that we’re all set up, we’re dying to get started on volume two!”

Friedle and Strong spoke about the project on a recent episode of their podcast, Pod Meets World: “[The book] is just really cool, it’s very hip. [They] speak ‘nerd,’ so there’s great film references, music references. It’s great. One of the things that’s cool, is [they do] things in this world that have never been done in comics before.”

Friedle first became involved in the Massive-Verse when he voiced Radiant Black’s Marshall Ward in a secret, in-universe animated short film easter egg called Versus. The short film was co-written by Higgins and Alec Siegel, directed by Higgins, made in collaboration with Tiger Animation, and featured the return of actors Rick Cramer and Reginald James to reprise their roles as The Grey Raven and Blaze from Higgins’ and Siegel’s 2007 film The League, the original inspiration for their 2014 Massive-Verse series, C.O.W.L. The short film was accessible through a surprise QR code in Radiant Black #15. Friedle also appears in the issue as himself.

“He asked us to do this probably two years ago,” said Strong on the podcast. “Kyle is brilliant. He’s an amazing writer. And he’s a great director…it was so fun to spend [days] with a good actor’s director. You improvised a few times, and he let you. But mostly, we’re faithful to the comic.”

Radiant Black, and its Massive-Verse of related titles, has cultivated a reputation for bleeding edge, immersive storytelling stunts that fans can’t stop talking about. This exciting audiobook adaptation continues that tradition of surprising expansions to the medium.

At its core, Radiant Black is a story of two best friends, disillusioned millennials trying to navigate failed dreams and existential super powers thanks to the ethereal, cosmic Radiant

Kyle Higgins discusses the upcoming new Teen Titans comic in September and shares some preview art by Daniele Di Nicuolo and Marcelo Costa!

From his newsletter -

https://open.substack.com/pub/kyledhiggins/p/teen-titans-are-next-level?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android&r=4ixke3

I just pasted the teen titans info below since the rest of the post discusses his other comic Radiant Black which has some spoilers of that if you haven't read it.

It was a bit of a deja vu experience last week when the solicitation dropped. As I stood in my parents’ kitchen, typing up a social post about the book, the whole thing felt eerily familiar. I realized, it was almost exactly fifteen years to the day that I was also staying at my parents house when the news of my time with another prominent former Robin was announced (New 52 Nightwing), and featured a similar post.

Coming back to DC has been a really positive experience. As a lifelong and diehard Nightwing fan, the Teen Titans have always been special to me. I also feel that they’re one of those superhero staples that every generation should have their own version of. A book that looks at what it’s like to be young in the DCU in the face of legacy expectations.

For our Teen Titans, that includes the challenges of making connections and relationships in today’s world.

We’ve got a vehicle for a host of characters—new and familiar faces—to join the book as we explore what it means to find and take your place in the world.

Of course, there’s one other big important element to the book.

In the face of legacy expectations, our kids will find an unexpected “mentor” in Red Hood. Jason’s in an interesting place at the start of our series. His relationship with the bat family is such that he’s out on his own, finding work and people to help on something of a word of mouth basis.

But when a case focused on a missing teen brings him in contact with a group of kids who have a unique connection to the Teen Titans name, Jason decides to let them help him find their friend.

And that will go about as smooth as you'd expect.

As you can probably sense from the solicit text, the push and pull between Jason and the kids is at the heart of the book. Jason's got a certain perspective on things. The kids won't always agree. They're going to challenge him. And probably drive him a little crazy. But at the end of the day, he'd probably die before he'd let anything happen to them.

I think we've got something really special here and I can't wait for DC to start revealing more.

For right now, I can tell you that a big part of what's making this book so special is the art from Daniele Di Nicuolo and Marcelo Costa.

When I was first starting in comics, one of the things I dreamed about was finding collaborators who I could grow with, who it would be fun to move from world to world with.

All these years later, I can't tell you how happy it makes me to have that in people like these guys/

We’ve got a big roller coaster planned for this book with twists and turns and a ton of surprises. I can’t wait for you all to see more.

See you in September!
