Armageddon Ork converted to Fantasy Orc

Here's no. 4! I was going to put a shield in the left hand, but the pose looked a bit awkward, so I decided a two-handed weapon worked better. Sculpting hands is challenging, but I welcome it. Looking at it, I think I might still want to bulk up the left one before painting. The straps holding the gut plate looked fairly modern so I removed them and extended the plate up to the chest. I also removed the leg strap holding the ammo pouch.

Armageddon Ork to Orc Banner Bearer

No. 3! I went with a banner this time just to mix things up. Also I didn't want yet another shield in the right hand.

The banner is from the old bosses kit, which, funnily enough, was just re-released. I sculpted a knife/spear tip on top like the boar boys have.

I removed all the obvious sci-fi stuff and remodeled the blade to look plainer. I repositioned the arm so it doesn't stick out so much.

The banner hand is from the old boys kit. I tried to grind it down, but it still looks large so I think it might help to thicken the banner pole.

Converting my second 40k ork boy to fantasy

Here is no. 2! He's using a looted ogre gut plate as a shield. I sculpted a wider rim on it because it was pretty small.

I sculpted the sword out of plasticard, which was my first time doing it. I loved how quickly I could get to the rough shape I wanted, but it's pretty hard to see details on white so I hope I can find colored ones.

I left the straps in place, but I sculpted a continuation of the shirt underneath them.

As I am sure to get questions again, none of what I'm doing is meant to be time efficient. I am practicing sculpting and making a few orcs as I would like to paint them. Like the previous one, I also removed stuff that wasn't necessarily sci-fi: the plates on the strap, the spikes on the shoes, the gloves, even the ammo pouch could have stayed.

I think the gun made the composition more interesting, creating a nice triangle between the gun tip, the grenade head and the strap on the shoulder. Maybe I can improve mine with painting.

Converting a 40K ork boy to fantasy

I loved these Armageddon Ork boyz at first sight so I decided to get a few and try to convert them. I began by shaving off anything that looked futuristic. Then I realized there were also other things that could fit fantasy, but I didn't want to paint: studs on the shirt, teeth on the belt buckle, straps on the back, bolts on the axe handle. I also sculpted over the strap that holds the back (hide?) shirt as I really didn't like that part of the design. I made some holes in the shirt on the back. They kinda look like bullet holes, but I hope painting will fix it.
