I have to decide before EOD - Duke 250 vs Hunter 350

Used AI to write the post. Please forgive me guys.

I’m 23, getting married in ~2 years, and need to book a bike tomorrow during the Amazon/Flipkart sale.

Duke 250: ~₹2.60L
Hunter 350: ~₹2.10L

Duke is honestly my dream bike. I love the looks and really enjoyed the test ride. But with marriage, future family expenses and a car probably 5+ years away, I’m wondering if I should be sensible and save ₹50k with the Hunter.

Usage is mostly city, 95% below 80 km/h. Occasional pillion with my girlfriend, and maybe a hill station trip every 5–6 months. Planning to keep the bike 5–6 years.

One thing I’m also confused about is the torque difference. The Hunter makes 27 Nm @ 4,000 rpm, while the Duke makes 25 Nm @ 7,250 rpm. So the Hunter has slightly more torque on paper and makes it much lower in the rev range, which should make it easier for relaxed city riding, pillion use and steep hairpins. But the Duke has much more power overall. I’m wondering how noticeable this difference actually is in real-world riding, especially with a pillion on hills.

I’ve ruled out the CB350/H’ness because they look too big on my lean build. Also moved away from the Speed 400/Scrambler because of the current-gen features/possible future updates, plus service/ownership concerns.

If you had to make this decision, which one would you pick and why?

M23: How much testosterone is too much?

I recently tested my testosterone and it was pretty high. I also have really oily skin, acne and hairfall.

I checked all my vitamins and everything is normal, and my HbA1c is normal too.

I tried everything to fix my acne but nothing really worked, so now it makes sense why.

ChatGPT says my level is higher than around 97.5% of men.

And I’m horny all the time too lol. I don’t even know whether to be happy or worried about having this much testosterone.

Anyone else with high testosterone facing the same issues?

If EV bikes ever become mainstream, it’ll probably be because of Ather.

EV scooters are already mainstream. I’m talking about bikes.

I honestly think Ather is the only company that has a real shot at making people switch from petrol bikes to EV bikes. They seem to care more about building a complete product than just chasing range or flashy specs.

If they get an electric motorcycle right, it could be the turning point for EV bikes in India.

Or am I giving Ather too much credit?

Monthly running cost of Triumph 400s

I’m planning to buy Scrambler 400x and want to understand the real monthly ownership cost.

How much do you spend per month on fuel, servicing, chain maintenance, tyres, insurance, and other regular expenses?

Please mention your average monthly kilometers ridden and your city as well.

I’d like to know the realistic monthly cost of ownership from actual owners.

Should I go with the showroom insurance (₹9.6k) or buy insurance outside? What add-ons should I not miss?

Buying an Ather 450X, and the showroom is offering insurance for ₹9.6k (1-year OD + 5-year TP + Personal Accident cover).

Should I go with it, or are there better options outside?

Also, which add-ons are worth getting for an EV? I don’t want to miss anything important. Thinking about Zero Dep, RSA, Consumables, Return to Invoice, Battery cover, etc.

Would appreciate insurer recommendations and any advice from fellow Ather owners.

Thanks!

Should I cancel my Triumph Scrambler 400X booking and get an Ather 450X instead?

Hey guys,

I cancelled my plan to purchase a Triumph Scrambler 400X and am now considering buying an Ather 450X because of the recent E30 fuel news.

Do you think I should?

Would love to hear your opinions.

Is buying an expensive bike right now a question mark because of the new E30 ethanol push?

The concern isn’t that E20 fuel will disappear next year. My concern is that manufacturers will start updating their engines for E30 or even flex-fuel compatibility.

Bajaj already reacted very quickly to the 400cc tax changes by updating engines across multiple models. With E22–E30 fuel standards now notified and tax incentives being introduced, I feel there’s a good chance Bajaj could start updating KTM and Triumph models in the next year or two.

As someone planning to keep a motorcycle for decades, spending ₹2.5–3.5 lakh on a bike today and then seeing an E30-compatible or flex-fuel version arrive shortly after makes me hesitate.

Am I overthinking this, or does waiting for some clarity on the E30/flex-fuel direction actually make sense for long-term ownership?

Is there is any chance for Triumph to sell the 400cc engine again in India?

Planning to get a Scrambler 400X soon.

With the 398cc engine no longer being sold in India, is there any chance Triumph could bring it back in the next year or so?

Also, do you guys think there’s any possibility of an E30 or flex fuel version of the 400 series coming to India anytime soon?

Trying to figure out if it’s worth waiting a year or if I’m just overthinking it.

Considering the New Triumph 350cc Bike – Need Some Advice

Hey Guys,

I am seriously considering purchasing either the Speed 400 or the Scrambler 400X.

I’m planning to book one this Friday. The 350cc variant.

Should I go ahead with the purchase?

Is there any way I can get the brand new 400cc engine variants right now?

Do the 350 variants feel underpowered?

Do the 350cc versions feel more refined?

Should I go ahead and buy a first-batch bike?

Please help.

Is the Triumph Scrambler 400X a good first bike for a skinny 55kg guy planning long-term family usage?

I’m 23, around 175cm and only 55kg, so pretty lean. Planning to buy my first proper bike and keep it for at least 8–10 years. Mostly city usage in India with occasional highway rides.

Right now I’m considering the Triumph Scrambler 400 X over a bike which I like the most KTM Duke 250.

My thinking is:

Scrambler seems more comfortable long-term.
Better suspension and road presence. Looks more mature and timeless. Indian roads are terrible, so the suspension and ground clearance seem useful.

Might suit married life better since I’ll probably get married in 2 years. Future wife + maybe kid eventually, so I don’t want something that feels too aggressive or “college boy” later.

But I also have concerns:

At 55kg, will the Scrambler feel too heavy/top-heavy for daily city traffic?

Is it too much bike for a first bike?

Will I regret not getting something lighter and sharper like the Duke 250 for city use?

Is the Scrambler actually practical for long ownership or I will regret?

Would appreciate opinions especially from owners who moved from naked/street bikes to scramblers for daily life.
