Piedmont North Carolina on a large lake.

This 14-16 inch beauty crawled up into our yard this morning and dug a whole with her back legs. I am guessing to maybe lay eggs?

We have no idea what to do now? Should we call someone? Should we fence it off? It’s about 75 feet from the lake and across a curbed road.

If it’s eggs, how long till they hatch? Will she come and check on them? How do we help prevent critters from digging them up?

Or is not laying eggs at all?

And what kind of turtle is it?

Any ideas? Is it really a Honda?
