Is there any downside to this strategy? Our legacy language is fairly rare and it’s hard to obtain high quality early books in it. But I have no problem “reading” an english book in my language (sorry don’t want to identify it for privacy reasons). We are at a level of “where wild things are” and “llama llama” so it’s not particularly hard lol. Is there a downside? I am thinking may be the baby sees the written words on the page and may be gets confused? or am I complicating things?

Is there a scientific explanation to this bizarre behavior. My toddlers wake up around 5:40-6am when one of their grandparents is visiting. They will gladly sleep till 7:30 when we are alone in the house (i am a solo mom). What gives??? Yes the grandparents are early risers but they are NOT making any noises. Everybody has their own bedroom. The house is totally quiet either way. They are not out of their routine. I have white noise going on. The grandparents stay for 2-3 months at a time (to help with childcare around the edges) so it’s not a short term excitement situation.

This is driving me bananas. I want to sleeeeep. Is there an explanation in the scientific realm, outside of the metaphysical considerations such as “anxious energy in the house” ?

As the title says. 2 weeks in and this is where we are at. He will start peeing in his shorts (going commando) will immediately say “wet”! and will stop himself. But. He. Will. Not. Restart.

The advice i have read so far infuriates me. Pour warm water overt their lower abdomen? Where the F#% am i supposed to magically get warm water from right at the right moment? am i supposed to run to the kitchen, warm it up or let the tap run for a minute, get a cup of it and all while simultaneously trying to clean up and keep my toddler sitting on the potty? Ugh.

The same goes for “calmly lead your child to the potty” as if this was an option.

I am beginning to deeply regret this enterprise. I can’t go anywhere with him anymore other than my backyard, i am bored out of my mind, i am neurotic because my life revolves around watching and waiting for his pee. Like seriously this is a torture technique. It’s like you sit and wait to be hit but you never know when you gonna get hit and there’s no warning (it actually is a real torture technique).

And I have a full load of peed shorts every night.

Fuck my life and my hubris of trying to potty train a 20 months old.

I am beginning to explore group care options in my town as kids will be aging out of nanny care in the next year or so, and I am coming across this gem. This is our school district run preschool. In a day, they budgeted a grand total of two 30 min intervals for outside play. This just blew my mind away. One our outside?? For 3 year olds?? In a mountain town with moderate climate year round?? I guess I am just wondering if this is typical. I am obviously not sending my children there, i want them to run and play in nature like they do now, not spend most of their day in circle time in a room full of germs. Why are we doing this to children 😢 What is your daycare schedule like??

Has anyone seen the map for summer 2026 yet? It’s funny how they want you to pony up $300ish for the pass and even charge you $12 for uphill travel now, but there’s no up to date map anywhere to be found on their web site. If only these guys employed a couple of people with internet skills or something…

So… couple of things on my mind… my window sensors basically were affixed to the windows with some basic double side sticky tape. Very high tech 🙄 Now it’s been a year and either it’s drying up or overheating in the summer sun and then
they are falling off, which triggers the system. Last night the cops showed up cause i wasn’t home and blissfully slept through all of the attempts to reach me cause phone on DnD.

Has anyone had that problem and found a solution to it?

Secondly, when i call their customer support, they demand to know the whatever secret word i chose when I signed up, which I do not remember. They then refuse to do anything. Anything at all. Apparently they can’t initiate a service call to my house until the account is “verified” and it’s not verified because i don’t remember the password and the only way to reset it is via snail mail, so i suppose we will be having a nightly date with the deputies until that arrives. This is the most MORONIC process ever. There are many ways to verify one’s identity which do not involve a random word i fished out of my mind years ago.

I am so beyond annoyed. I wish i had signed up with one of their competitors honestly. And will definitely be telling the cops the real reason they are there at 2am the next time.
