What Accessibility Features Would You Want in a Podcast App or the others apps are missing?

Hi everyone! I am the developer of CastKeeper for iPhone, iPad and Mac, a podcast app dedicated to making podcasts forever. One of my major focuses now is giving people with disabilities the opportunity to enjoy podcasts as much as possible.

My app currently supports on-device transcriptions, translations of transcripts and audio only for video podcasts.

I'm already testing a new on-device AI generated live closed captioning for audio and video podcasts for those hard of hearing, but I'd love some feedback from the community on what other features I could consider to bring to the app that you feel are areas where others have ignored or should be there so everyone can enjoy podcasts, not just those who are able-bodied.

Thanks!

[Major Update] CastKeeper now supports iPad and MacOS with Private Sync. No Subscriptions and Family Sharing.

I just released version 3.0 of CastKeeper in the App Store that adds iPad and MacOS support, along cross device sync. It’s a free update for existing users.

The iPad and Mac version is not a blown up iPhone UX, but rather a new experience designed to take advantage of the iPad and Mac with pencil support, keyboard shortcuts, and a new layout specifically tailored for these devices.

Still only $4.99 until 6/30/2026. No ads. No subscriptions, and buy once - use on all of your devices with Family Sharing.

What makes a better Mac version of app? Looking to add Mac support to podcast app.

I'm a long time Mac user, and I'm working on releasing an update to a podcast saving app I created that will add Mac support (started on iPhone).

It's always annoyed me when developers just ship a "blown up" version of their iOS apps as iPad and Mac compatible without considering the form factor (which I am NOT doing).

However, what are some basics that make you want to purchase a cross-device app when considering Mac support? Would love some feedback before I ship, or some tweaks to make after I release and continue to improve it.

I feel like I've nailed the "basics" below:

  • Full cross-device sync
  • Added full mouse and keyboard support and keyboard shortcuts
  • Redesigned the interface to look different on the Mac and iPad, while maintaining the design language of the app.
  • Stayed away from too much "Liquid Glass" effects (maybe it's a personal preference, but it's just not quite there yet on the Mac IMO).

Where are all the indie developers in the 757?

As large as the 757 is, I have yet to meet any indie software developers in the area (those who make software not for their corporate jobs). Would love to know if there are any out there and find ways to network and help each other out and grow our community.

Found a Podcast App that does all AI privately on device with Apple Intelligence including chapter generation with no ads or subscriptions ($4.99 one time rather than paying for tokens).

I just looked at this new iOS app, CastKeeper, that uses all on-device AI with Apple Intelligence to not only listen and watch podcasts, but also save them to your own private storage.

Apple Intelligence is used to:

- Create AI generated chapters when there are none
- Do all on device transcription and translation. No cloud no tokens.
- Create episode summaries and identify sponsors and sponsor codes, or call out dynamic ad insertions.
- Make “Smart Collections” to find all topics in my library.

Also can use this in the car via CarPlay.
