Bought the game yesterday after the FSR 4 update and I've some questions

  1. I can't see any HDR toggle, is it auto enabled?

  2. On enabling FSR in-game graphics settings, Adrenaline doesn't detect it and says I need to enable FSR 3.1 in game. Is this the case for everyone? How do I know FSR 4 is enabled? I've tried restarting the game and PC but no luck. Is frame gen working the smoking gun that FSR 2 is not being used?

Edit: Thanks u/monokuma29. For anyone wondering, you need to start a new game for FSR 4 to be detected by adrenaline. T-T

Neon DB compute burning through hours on HF Space? (14 CU in 3 days)

Hey guys,

I’ve been running an AIOStreams instance on Hugging Face connected to a free tier Neon Postgres DB, but my compute hours are vanishing super fast - used 14 CU in just 3 days.

Looking at the Neon usage graphs, active compute never drops to 0. It sits at a flat 0.25 allocated / 0.1 used every single minute, even when no one is using the app. (Image attached for reference)

I checked the codebase and noticed keepAlive was added to the Postgres connection pool config (keepAliveInitialDelayMillis: 10000). Because the Hugging Face Space stays running 24/7, could those pings be preventing Neon from ever hitting its 5-minute auto suspend?
Link to release PR - https://github.com/Viren070/AIOStreams/pull/851

Has anyone else using self hosted AIOStream instance using Neon run into this?

Edit: I used this guide for self-hosting - https://pastebin.com/SqcynCqf

[Help] MPV HDR colors differ drastically whether Windows HDR is toggled before or after launching.

Hey everyone, I'm trying to figure out the "accurate" way to watch HDR movies on my MSI MAG 321UPX (QD-OLED) using mpv on Windows 11. I've noticed a huge visual difference depending on when Windows HDR is activated, and I'm hoping someone here can explain what's happening.

(Both these scenarios below are in full screen mode)

Scenario 1: Windows HDR OFF initially I launch the movie without turning on HDR in Windows 11. mpv triggers an automatic HDR switch (the screen goes black for 2 seconds, and the HDR is enabled automatically). Result: The colors are incredibly vibrant. People's faces look a bit reddish/flushed due to the blood (which looks pleasing, but maybe over-saturated?)

Scenario 2: Windows HDR ON initially I manually turn on Windows HDR globally using Win+Alt+B, and then launch the movie in mpv. There is no 2 second black screen/handshake as HDR is already enabled. Result: The colors are noticeably different. It's much less vibrant, and the reddish skin tones are gone, leaving a flatter, more subdued presentation.

I've also attached two images from Dune Part 2 Eclipse scene as the difference there is most visible, everything becomes way too red in scenario 1. Note that phone camera quality is not that good but still enough to give an idea of what's going on visually.

Doctor told me my tooth died completely "in the dark" without me ever realizing it

Hey everyone, just wanted to share a wild dental plot twist I experienced today and see if anyone else has gone through something similar. I’m 23, and for the last 3-4 days, I’ve been dealing with a deep ache in the back of my jaw. It only hurt when I chewed on a very specific point at the very back of my mouth. I don't feel any discomfort when I eat something sweet or cold water.
The weird part? A very similar thing happened about two months ago, lasted for 3–4 days and completely vanished, making me think it was just a phase. I thought this was my wisdom tooth trying to pop up, especially because I couldn't pinpoint the pain to a localized point, it feels spread out and deep somewhere and not exactly near the tooth (and as I already said, no reaction to hot/cold/sweet).

Well, I finally went to the dentist today. He used some sort of a camera and looked inside. At first he told me everything looks good and teeth are in excellent condition. Then he noticed something between last two molars (left bottom). I could see the image, there was a slightly dark path (not very clear tho) and he immediately said "root canal".
He did no x-ray, and told me that there's no infection though because I kept my teeth in excellent condition but I'm at the final stage where it has reached the nerve and hance no filling is possible and root canal is the only solution. I'm completely baffled, how is this even possible? TBH, I don't even have some unbearable or excruciating pain when I accidently chew food from that area. The pain only comes like 1 minute after continuously chewing from that area. I need some advice. How likely is my condition as bad as the doctor claims to be and should I consult another doctor first?

How do I not fry my setup? Simulated sine wave vs Pure sine wave.

So I've been in this rabbit hole for a long time now and I'm losing my mind. I’ve got a Ryzen 5 7600X and RX 9070xt build and I'm pairing it with an MSI MAG 321UPX 4K OLED monitor. Power cuts and voltage drops are not that uncommon. I expect 2 power cuts each day that might last for around 30 minutes. That's why I went with a RM850e PSU as I've only heard good things about it.

I need a rock solid power backup, but the more I research, the more conflicting info I find. Help me settle this before I buy:

  • Will a standard modified sine wave UPS (like Microtek/Artis 1500VA) be problematic for expensive OLED panel over time or not suit RM850e?

  • Getting an online UPS seems to be an impossible task. The only one I see is 1KVA online ups but that's not enough for my setup. I calculated and my setup can take 700W+ power at peak.

  • Other option is getting an inverter, but that's out of the equation right now due to some reason, so please don't suggest this.

My main concern is if simulated sine wave is really that bad for OLED monitor? I'm not that worried about PSU.

About the MSI MAG 321UPX OLED, what's with this firmware version (FW.103)?

My monitor's OSD says that the firmware is "FW.103", but this doesn't align with any of the firmware versions mentioned on the MSI's official site. I only found a single post about this on the entire internet - https://www.reddit.com/r/MSI_Gaming/comments/1p64giz/is_this_the_latest_firmware_for_the_321upx/

Unfortunately I couldn't get any answer in the post above. My main concern is whether I'll be able to update the firmware without bricking my monitor. Did anyone else encounter this weird firmware version on their monitor as well?

I'll be using this for games. I already have a monitor (4k QD-OLED), and I am hoping for this rig to serve at native 4k for around 2-3 years. No internal parts are being reused. I'm not sure if I should be waiting for prices to come any lower before pulling the trigger, but doesn't look like that's gonna happen anytime soon. Let me know if you see any better value swaps. Here is my current planned build:

Using 1 USD ≈ ₹94.91 at the time of writing this.

CPU —> AMD Ryzen 5 9600X: ₹21,499 (~$226.52)

Motherboard —> Gigabyte B850 GAMING X WIFI6E: ₹16,799 (~$177.00)

GPU —> ASRock Challenger Radeon RX 9070 XT 16GB: ₹69,499 (~$732.26)

PSU —> Corsair RM850e: ₹10,920 (~$115.06)

Case —> MSI MAG Forge 130A Airflow: ₹3,999 (~$42.13)

RAM —> Kingston Fury Beast RGB 16GB (1x16GB) DDR5 6000 CL30: ₹20,999 (~$221.25)

WD Blue SN580 1TB —> ₹7,500 ($79.03)

Cooler —> Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE: ₹5400 ($56.90)

Total: ₹1,56,615 (~$1,649.15)

Thought process on some choices here:

  • CPU - I went for 9600X because from what I've read, the bottleneck is going to be the GPU most of the times so I should be fine. I'll later upgrade to something more powerful but for now this should do it perfectly fine.

  • Motherboard - Couldn't find B650 with same specs cheaper than this B850

  • GPU - Yes

  • PSU - Yes

  • Case - Pretty cheap and has good reviews. I'm open to suggestions.

  • RAM - Going with only 16GB initially. Will buy another stick after 2-3 months maybe

  • WD Blue SN580 - This one's interesting. It's an entry level but I've only read good things about it. Also, from what I know, a faster SSD won't make any difference in games. The bottom point is it helps me save money without any performance loss

  • Cooler - Couldn't find Phantom Spirit anywhere so went with this
