Hey everyone

We shot a two-camera sit-down interview last day and the wide angle came out unusable. Looking for help working out the cause and whether anyone has rescued similar footage.

Setup

• 2x Sony FX3, both PP11 / S-Log3, same settings, Black was -5 at Wide as I checked.
• A-cam (wide): 16-35mm f/2.8, shot at f/2.8
• B-cam (close-up): 85mm f/1.4, which is perfectly sharp
• A-cam was feeding a monitor over HDMI. The monitor image looked slightly soft, but we assumed it was the transmission.

The problem

• The A-cam footage is soft across the whole frame. Nothing is sharp: not the subject, the chair, or the shelves behind.
• There's also a milky haze/glow, with lifted blacks and blooming around the practical lights. The B-cam is also S-Log3 and doesn't have this.
• We took stills on the same body in Intelligent Auto Mode with HDMI disconnected and they're blurry too, so it isn't the HDMI or the monitor.

What I suspect

• A smudge or film on the front element or a filter (the haze points this way)
• The AF/MF switch on the lens left on MF and the focus ring bumped, so focus was set way in front of the subject
• Condensation from moving between AC and humid air (we're in Bengaluru)
• Possibly a mix of these, made worse by shooting wide open

What we tried
Ran a clip through Topaz Video AI Iris (Special Adjustment for Faces) with Recover Detail at 100. Haven't tried Theia model (High fidelity and detail enhancement). Edges got noticeably crisper, but the skin went waxy, the rimless glasses broke up into artifacts, and the haze is still there. It looks like it was run on the raw log, which probably didn't help.

Questions

1. Does this look like focus, a dirty element/filter, or something else? Has anyone seen the 16-35 GM do this?
2. Any FX3 setting that could cause this on one body only? Clear Image Zoom, something else?
3. For rescuing it: has anyone had better luck with Theia or Starlight than with Iris on soft footage? And is the right order log-to-709 conversion plus dehaze in Resolve first, then Topaz?

Frames attached: wide (soft), close-up (sharp), and the Topaz after at 100%.

He claimed family emergencies. We waited.

He claimed billing cycle delays. We waited.

He claimed his mother was hospitalised. We waited.

And then we found out in his own words that he did not work in those months because he was attending a school reunion and traveling.

In September 2025 he made a written commitment to refund INR 54,000 in two installments. He broke both. We sent a formal legal notice in February 2026. Ignored. Our lawyer called him directly. His response was whatever you want to do, just do it.

We have now filed an FIR. The Varanasi police have been notified. Our lawyer in Bangalore is involved.

His LinkedIn profile claims he has scaled 60+ agencies and generated 70Cr+ in revenue for clients. We are a small creative studio that trusted those claims. We paid the price.

We are sharing this publicly with every piece of documented evidence including the signed contract, payment records, WhatsApp chats, emails and his written acknowledgment of debt because no other founder should go through what we went through.

I am surprised at the amount of time these two brothers spend grooming each other. They really love each other's company and play a lot when I'm not noticing them. Recently the smaller bunny went into GI statis and I had to take him to a vet. He is doing much better right now but under observation and going through extensive care under me. The elder brother could sense his pain and he is also comforting him at times when he's just sitting idle. Hope he recovers fast. Fingers crossed.

A modern take on a three thousand year old poem. Nolan's Odyssey removed our ability to check whether they're there.

I made this carousel to highlight some of the major changes from the book and the film. Also why the Gods were removed.

Zendaya is not Athena, rather a representation of her but only to Odysseus, and Poseidon wrecks the sea after Polyphemus is blinded without ever being shown. What Nolan removed was the Olympian ensemble, replaced by a distant power that arrived as a storm and thunderbolt.

In a way he removed the view from above, not the gods.

He told TIME he was drawn to how, for people then, "evidence of gods was everywhere." He wanted us fearing Poseidon exactly as the crew does, rather than cutting to a god deciding to drown them.

If you look at it from a commercial POV, a god on IMAX film is a costumed actor on a set. The moment you show him, the myth becomes a pageant. Another god, another A list actor adds up to the budget. A god you can only infer is infinite.

There's a real philosophy behind it. Auerbach argued Homer's world has no interior everything is external, nothing hidden. Snell went further: Homeric characters have no unified will. Rage isn't a feeling rising up, it's a god arriving.

So the trauma isn't an addition to Odysseus. It's the replacement for Poseidon. Divine persecution becomes psychological affliction. The wrath moves inside the skull.

Lukács said the epic assumes a meaningful cosmos, while the novel belongs to a world abandoned by God what he called transcendental homelessness. That's Nolan's film exactly. Home isn't unreachable because a god blocks the sea. It's unreachable because the man and the place both changed.

And Sartre: no divine author, no excuse. Homer's Odysseus always has one god made him, a god saved him. When Hermes hands over the moly, survival is a gift. Strip the gift and survival becomes character, which sounds like a promotion but is a sentence. The men he lost, he lost.

The cost. The Olympian scenes were the poem's comedy, and they're gone. Worse, a world with visible gods is a world where grace is possible the machinery that curses can also pardon. As one critic puts it, nobody is coming to save us.
