Thoughts

It’s FIFA in LA, we all know there’s insane traffic. I pre-scheduled my Lyft for a pretty hefty drive, about 95 miles from LAX. That dude cancels so I request another when I get to pick up, unfortunately the ride is over 3 hours because of traffic. But it’s LA, everything takes forever. First red flag is the guy is saying he doesn’t even know where he’s bringing me and asks me for reference, before I even got in I asked if it’s ok with him & that I can cancel, I didn’t mind a charge. He says it’s all good. Unfortunately, the time increased 20 minutes, it’s been 2 hours of him audibly complaining & huffing the entire time. Now I was hoping to tip, but the constant complaining in silence is too much. Would I be a complete a-hole if I don’t tip or tip 10%? (For reference my job booked & they never tip)

Lyft drivers willing to accept?

This might be a silly question, but I haven’t taken a Lyft or Uber for a distance of over 50 miles in years. With that, does anyone know how willing, specifically Lyft drivers are, to accepting rides to Riverside county area? I’m planning to go 97 miles… using standard or priority. Thank you!

Edit: got a driver but he keeps on complaining about the time & that he doesn’t know the area I’m going to. Why did you accept then? Had to ask 3 times if he’s ok with it. Like sorry but FIFA is causing traffic & it’s been apparent for quite a while now.

My local dealership has horrible communication

More of a rant, but I know this isn’t normal. My car has been with this dealership since Thursday morning of last week. However, I have had to constantly follow up just for a single update if they finally did a diagnostic. They never called first or updated me like they said. So I finally decide to go in person despite, no vehicle, and then they tell me they ran a diagnostic. I even had to ask for a loaner when they had them available, but they acted confused by my inquiry. With that, I understand delays, I understand a lack of techs, what I don’t understand is poor communication. I would’ve went to my preferred dealership if it wasn’t an engine issue & this dealer being the closest option.

Warranty Q- Powertrain

I’m not the most savvy understanding my warranty’s technicalities! With that, I started my 2023 car & looked at my dashboard to see my check engine light was on. I checked the code. It says DTC- P011800, DTC powertrain, DTC EMS. When I look up the first code specifically (not sure if it’s correct or not) it refers to engine cooling temperature. Basically, I’m wondering if this is covered under warranty for powertrain when 3 codes showed up, image for reference. I know they’ll need to do a diagnostic, but I was hoping my car’s computer was enough.

DTC - Powertrain

I am not the most car savvy but stay on top of maintenance. With that, how difficult has it been for others to get serviced at their dealer? My vehicle is almost 3 y/o so of course I’m gonna go in and try to schedule to stay within warranty, but I feel like it’s been thing after thing…

Code is also showing P011800 which from what I can find online refers to engine cooling temperature issues.

Reduced Hours School Employee

I’m a school employee and had my hours significantly reduced during the school year. However, I denied payment because we are in recess and there are no hours essentially being reduced as I do not work in the summer/recess. With that, on my profile it is suggesting I reopen my claim. I decided not to as I do not want to be overpaid and so far I have talked to about three agents who aren’t sure if I should close my case. Anyone else experience this?

Also they’re having me do RESEA interview

Edit: I just requested to cancel (again) after not certifying the last certification period and the most recent. They forgot to send a questionnaire for cancellation the first time

Should I

I don’t add much mileage onto my vehicle nor idle when I do drive so I’ve only gotten an oil change once a year. With that, I thought I used my last complementary oil change with my warranty, but the technician informed me I have one more free one till July 4. However, I’m predicting I’ll rack up about 700-850 miles since my last oil change, should I just get the free oil change regardless?

So Different

The books feel so different, but I’m in shock starting on book 8??

Tw/Spoiler:

The way they just casually brush past suicide and murders, feels unresolved to me & abrupt ?? sure there are flashbacks, but it’s incredibly shallow. Not sure if anybody thinks the same.

For example, the whole Jenna being murdered part has thrown me for a loop. As for the emotions of some characters feel unrealistic & insufferable. Again, the popular girls are making fun of Hannah but how do you see somebody get hit by a car have all this trauma and then go “yeah you’re crazy for needing psychiatric help.” It just doesn’t feel like students with access to expensive education and AP classes would be that dumb. Lol I’m just frustrated but can’t stop reading

Book Rant

Not really spoilers but beware!!

I’m barely half way through the books, but WHAT IS IT WITH THE GROWN MEN PREYING ON ARIA/SPENCER. And it’s so much worse with Aria 😭😭😭 she’s definitely a naive teen, but how she gravitates towards them has me yelling to “run away from those crusty creeps”. We got 20 somethings & mid 30 year olds going after her over & over. Parents are even more useless than in the show

Book Aria (spoilers)

I need to vent, why the h*11 are there so many predators in the books (I guess it reflects real life) but it’s like they all flock to Aria! It’s so disgusting, including the parents brushing off knowing about Ez*ra. And while she’s still a teen, she is almost insufferable with how full of herself she is. I find it more annoying than Hannah because Hannah is open about it while Aria is sly. I’m only on book 7 tho!

Not so much a spoiler but be warned as I talk about characters vaguely‼️

I’m only on book four, so thus far I’ve been able to not really mind the Liars’ behaviors. I don’t know if nuance is necessary but for me it’s what I’ve been doing. I’m an adult, I work with teens and get the whole childhood development and understanding the privilege these girls have, beyond their economic advantages, and I also consider their naïveté. But I’m prepping myself for how insufferable the characters are about to get compared to the show! Right now I’m disliking Spencer the most 😆 and Aria’s constant Europe references are irking me on top of her pompous view as an artist but I’m trying to remember she believes she has a more worldly view

I’m also trying to make sure I make a distinction between the show vs the books, but it’s been a bit difficult. I think having a hard time making the distinction is also playing into how I’m viewing the characters in the books

I have a 3 y/o Hyundai and I’m trying to keep it tip top shape since it’s my first car I purchased and I don’t know much bout cars. I’ve seen discourse around this, but I looked in my engine bay and the tape in flaying and warped. I want to reseal/wrap some wiring. So friction tape, electrical (goop issue), or wire harness tape. And is friction just wire harness

I’m an at will substitute in a district and have not been able to see work assignments, my supervisor is an HR rep who told me everything looks fine on their end. I talk with my coworkers and they tell me they see plenty of jobs in the system going unclaimed. I pressed the issue further after not being able to see jobs a week after this call and they tell me they’ll get back to me. They don’t, I call again the following day and said worker tells me their HR supervisor will call me. Same day, their supervisor doesn’t call back, so I call the following day and they’re busy. A few days from then I’m specifically requested by different teachers to come work, but they cannot schedule but the school’s admin informed me to come in person. They call the aforementioned HR supervisor who schedules fine and I work. Again, we cannot go to sites unless we are scheduled on our system which usually has to be done by us. Again, I cannot see the on-call jobs to schedule myself and call my HR rep a final time who says their supervisor will call me about it because it’s not the system at issue implying there’s an issue with me. It’s about three weeks since the issue started when I assume I’ve been blocked or something and decide to send an email of the events (I swear it was cordial, asked what is needed of me, & I listed bullet points to not send too much text) again, received no response, so I follow up again no response wait three days and do one last follow up. Since I haven’t been able to work consistently, but have access to all my credentials and information I’m assuming they forgot to fire me or hold some kind of performance interview, but no one has fired me verbally or even in writing. Additionally, I was not informed about my workload being decreased was told to me and I have worked probably two days out of the month as opposed to my previous full time schedule. With that, coworkers are telling me to file a complaint and so forth, but I am thinking the best option would be filing for unemployment?

Edit: no IT issues and I have a clear credential no flags. I’ve had suggestions to just pop up in person to our district office which I think it horrible advice

- if context is needed, please let me know. I’m just trying to keep it simple as possible around the communication issue
