Mini ac return?

My ac was on the fritz so I bought a mini one 2 days ago to cool my room. I intended to keep it but it doesn't fit my window correctly (the vent does not align with my window sill so there are gaps) and it also started making a squealing sound on & off when I turned it on (this seems to be a common issue with this brand) so I will be returning. I did open the screws and batteries which I did not use, should I put them in a zip lock bag? Since I cut the poly straps can I just tape the box up before going back to the store? Its a 50 lb box so I'm hoping packing tape will keep it together as I'm not buying a poly strap kit. Thanks in advance!

Are boxes meticulously inspected in front of me? Just wondering if I should do this on a day where I have extra time or if its a quick drop off.

Also, if anyone does know of a mini ac unit with a smaller window vent i would be open to suggestions because I do still want one.

AC not getting house down to temp?

Hi all,

I'm in Charleston, SC, snd it has been crazy hot here. Like high 90s with 115 real feel. Ive lived here 6 years and have never had an issue with the ac, though. The past few weeks, ive had an issue getting the ac below 75, even at night, when i have it set to 71. I set it to 71 at 6 pm yesterday and it didnt get to 71 until 9 am (currently back up at 75). The filter is a month old, and am changing it to a lower merv one today. Coils seem to be clean. House is 75 years old so insulation isnt the best but its always been fine before. Any single fixes I can try before paying out the ass or is this normal when its this hot?

Are the books the same?

Hey all,

Ive been watching outlander through Netflix. When s7 finally got released, I rewatched the series since it had been so long. Had no idea there was a season 8 or that half of s7 is not on Netflix.

If I were to start where s7e8 leaves off, which book would it be and would it still makes sense? Ive only read the first couple of books, but they've been so similar to the show its hard to read them since I JUST watched all of those episodes.

If it doesn't line up guess I'm paying for Starz for a bit!

Repeated issues

Ive had marleyspoon for over a year and never really had issues other than the occasional missed ingredient. Lately, its been rough. Half the time over the past two months my box will come late and ruined or just not show up. Last week the box arrived and everything was in it, but I got 6 separate emails after with supposed missed proteins and ingredients. My box is supposed to arrive today, but it hasn't even shipped. I can't even go to the chat option because they say no one is available. How do I even cancel? Are any good companies left? I left blueapron and home chef over similar issues before.

AA credit card benefits

I'm considering getting an airline credit card but was trying to figure out the benefits. I travel internationally more than domestically, so would I still get free luggage on any international flights? Are there any other benefits that make it worth it, to those that have one? Other than the intro miles?

Recalling tub

Hi all,

I attempted to recaulk my tub because the old caulk has some mold/mildew on it that I can't scrub all the way off. When I attempted to remove, it goes a good inch or so in between the tub and wall. Is this normal? Should I just cut it and caulk over as best I can? I panicked and caulked over the part I removed and it cured fine and has held up well but am afraid to do the rest of the tub now.

Spiro with yaz?

Hi all,

Ive been on spiro for about 2 years for hair loss and acne. First 50, then 100 after the first 4 months. About a year in, I started getting long periods. For the past year, ive been lightly bleeding half the month or more. I saw my obgyn and told her what was going on, and she put me on yaz.

Is anyone on both? I know spiro and Yaz can both raise potassium levels. Mine has been consistently between 4.5 and 5 on spiro and am worried about yaz raising them more. Also, has yaz helped anyone with the bleeding issues? If this doesn't work, I'll lower my dose back to 50 but dont want to lose the acne and hair progress ive made.

Tub faucet leak?

My water heater failed recently, and my tub faucet began to drip shortly after (maybe sediment got wedged into something?) Anyway, I have a home warranty I'm about to cancel but figured I'd use it one last time. The plumber came by and said he couldn't just replace the cartridge but needs to access the wall to look at the pipes.

I asked him why, and he said it was because he didnt know what materials the pipes were or the faucet brand. There is an area to access the wall in a closet covered by plywood so it isnt a huge deal, but could he not just replace the cartridge? He said the cartridge "is the wall" but English wasnt his first language.

I just thought it was strange. My dad used to do some plumbing work and said he should have been able to access what he needed from the outside. Is this normal?

Part time job ideas?

Ive been an RN for 10 years and really like my current job and schedule. However, we do not have opportunities for OT and my house is old and needs a lot of expensive work. Does anyone have any ideas for jobs i can do 1 to 2x a week, with shorter shifts (less than 8 hours)?

Ive done lots of neuro, some chemo infusion, but no ED or ICU experience. Also have a lot of experience doing FOH food&bev. Like F&B but everywhere wants full time right now.

I am decent with IVs but do not have a 100% success rate.

Open to any ideas!

Curb water meter?

I was supposed to have my hot water heater replaced today, but I didnt think about (or realize) the water main would need to be shut off. We have no way to turn it off in the house so the city has to do it, and cannot come until tomorrow. Is there a way I can do this myself in the future? I'm afraid we will end up being without running water for days. I plan to fill up the tub so we can flush the toilet but not sure how long that will even last.

Edit: the water meter is buried under a ton of dirt, hopefully the water company will dig it out so we can turn it back on after.

Best way to buy hot water heater?

Our water heater finally kicked the bucket (its probably 20+ years old) so I need a new one ASAP. What is the most inexpensive way to go about this? Should I go with a big box store or a local plumber? Or should I have a water heater delivered then hire a plumber for the install?

For reference, its a gas heater and located in Charleston, SC. Would like to stay under $2500 total.

Can anyone help me find the model number for my oven?

I have a frigidaire classic series oven that came with my house (so no receipt). The sticker with the model/serial number is completely faded so I'm not sure what to do. We moved here in 2020 so it's older than that.

Best way to start from scratch?

Sooo a few months ago I went out of town for 12 days and barely used my tret because I was trevling and getting home late etc. Came back home and started using it every other day while adding in a moisturizing toner and serum. My skin did NOT like one of these things and I started getting a blotchy face with eczema like itchy spots. Stopping with the serums cut back on the tret but its been getting worse so I'm about to scale back to just a cleanser moisturizer and sunscreen.

Is this a good idea? Should I add the tret back once my face clears up or should I give it a certain amount of time to heal? It just feels incredibly inflamed itchy and swollen right now. I'm sure the alcohol over the past weekend didnt help either.
