Late night thoughts / context... I’d love to hear your take on this

First off, do you think Dawson and Joey would have ended up together if he hadn't been so obsessed with her and stuck in their childhood dynamic? What if he had just relaxed, dated other people, and explored relationships with girls like Nikki from season 3? And second—hear me out on this one—what if Dawson had Lucas Scott’s personality from One Tree Hill? I know it might sound silly, but I feel like the whole love triangle would have been way more intense and unpredictable if Dawson had that kind of vibe. Don't get me wrong, I’m a total Pacey and Joey shipper, but I always have these "what if" scenarios running through my head, haha. P.S. English isn't my native language, so I hope this all makes sense and you get what I mean!

Something has been on my mind, and I have to ask — I don’t want it to come across as me trying to provoke anyone......

I wanted to ask the following: Vol. 3 by Slipknot came out after Iowa, and many fans were disappointed because the sound wasn’t like it was on that album. But what would have happened if they had released another album that sounded like Iowa or their first album? I think people would have complained about why they hadn’t changed their sound and why they were repeating themselves. So, at the end of the day, I think it would have come down to the same thing.

What do you guys think?

And, to be honest, I’d rather appreciate a failed experiment when a band tries to change their sound than have them make the exact same album over and over again.

im not defending kripke but

I'm honestly surprised Kripke approved the scripts for the final season. I really thought he'd knock it out of the park with Season 5, just like he did with the first five seasons of Supernatural when he was the main showrunner.

Don't get me wrong, I don't hate Season 5 that much. There have definitely been worse final seasons than this one. I just don't get it—it could have been so much better.

Soldier Boy wasn't even in the finale, even though it would've made perfect sense for him to be there. It would've been far more satisfying and logical if he had been the one responsible for Homelander's downfall instead of Kimiko. They could've even killed Soldier Boy off in the end, and then simply made his spin-off a prequel set in the past as a standalone miniseries.

I'm genuinely curious about what went wrong, because I have a hard time believing Kripke read those scripts and thought, "Yeah, this is great."

I actually don't think he wrote anything for this season—and I checked, he didn't.

Do you think it's possible they originally had a better script, but Amazon stepped in and interfered?

first season was true magic

I know I'll be watching Season 5, especially since I'm from Croatia, so I'll be paying close attention to the filming locations. But none of the seasons have the same magic as the first one. The others are okay, but the first season was the perfect mix of The Goonies and Point Break. The charm between the cast members was fantastic, and their chemistry was great as well.

The show became too popular, and as often happens, the writers seemed to lose track of where to take the story and how to develop it. It's a shame, but I still have to finish the series.

Why do so many TV shows start strong but decline after a few seasons?

What’s going on with this?

Shows like Stranger Things, The Boys, Euphoria, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead come to mind… and there are plenty more examples.

I get that it all eventually comes down to money and production decisions, but this feels like a really common pattern with TV series.

Another thing worth mentioning is the long wait between seasons nowadays — sometimes two or even three years. By the time a new season finally arrives, expectations are high, and when it ends up disappointing, people tend to get really frustrated.

If you can think of any other shows that had a couple of great seasons but dropped off badly later, feel free to list them. One more I just thought of is Supernatural.

from his bandcamp ( i dont know what to think) -I thought he could handle criticism, but this whole thing about not interacting with fans is just BS.
