Need advice please, super desperate for an end in sight

My 4 year old rescue frenchie developed serious neck pain about a month and a half ago, I took him in to the vet on the second day I noticed it because the first day his pain went away after about 2 hours. He was diagnosed with a neck strain upon assessment and I was told to give him gabapentin and caprofen and limit his activity. No advice about crate rest or IVDD given.

Two weeks of no improvement, his walking seemed to get worse and I found this sub. I took him in to see another vet and she diagnosed him with IVDD stage 2 based off of physical assessment, walking pattern, and his symptoms that I reported. She advised to see a neurologist, but my husband and I are both students and have a son and barely have the funds for the vet, so I started his 8 week crate rest.

The first two weeks were okay, but after that, the barking started and would not stop. He is on the max dose of gabapentin, caprofen, methocarbamol, and trazadone. We give everything as frequently as possible every 8-12 hours as listed. Nothing is working. I tried a play pen, he tries to jump out, I tried an xpen, he tries to jump out.

He is MISERABLE. He woke my 11 month old up multiple times with his barking. He barks the second I leave the room, so I drag his crate around, but he keeps barking. He is becoming fecal incontinent because of all the meds he is on so I have him in diapers and have to wash his butt and put cream on so he doesn't get a rash.

I was at my wits end last week and I just needed the barking to stop so I let him out for a little bit while he was on a leash. He jumped off of the couch while I was trying to train him to use the ramp and reinjured himself.

I hate myself for even putting him in that situation, but I was just so desperate for a break of barking and him to not be so miserable. He cries all of the time.

I cried and cried and now I realize we have to start the 8 weeks all over again. Now he is in horrible pain like the beginning of his injury originally. I feel like the worst dog mom. I am getting frustrated with him and I know it isn't even his fault. He now hasn't eaten in two days, he is eating treats, but he seems so depressed.

I just want this to be over and I see no end in sight. I now have to shove his meds directly into his throat because he won't eat ANYTHING with the pills hidden in it. So three times a day, once in the middle of the night, I am shoving my hands down his throat and making him take these pills, changing his diapers, taking him outside to use the bathroom, all while wrangling my 11 month old son and trying to pass my classes.

I feel awful, I am at my wits end and I need help.

Is there an end in sight? How can I make him happy? Is he okay? What can I do? I really need help. My dog is so depressed, he just isn't himself. I miss my playful puppy who ran around and got the zoomies. I don't know how I am going to get through the next 8 weeks. I need help.

Managing a house and children is so much work

Before I became a mother, I used to be one of those people who firmly believed that being a SAHM was a piece of cake, take care of baby and do chores, easy.

I recently became a SAHM with my one (9 mo) child and I sure have been humbled. Take care of baby, make sure they are educated and emotionally mature, go grocery shopping, pay bills, find deals and coupons, restock everything, track spending, take care of dog, clean the house, meal plan, pack lunches, make every meal ever, make plans for the weekend, doctor's appointments, I could go on forever. And that is all before brushing your own teeth. Maybe my dream of 4 children is irrational.

I also start college again in 2 weeks and I am scared haha send help.

Looking for some tips to keep a relationship alive during med school

My boyfriend (27M) of almost 3 years started his first year of medical school 2 months ago. (DO school for the early start). We have a 9 month old son together. I am so grateful because thanks to his BAH and disability plus a small student loan, we are able to survive without working and will take on limited debt.

I am also pursuing my bachelor's degree and biology and deciding whether I want to go to vet school or pa school.

The issue is we literally almost never see each other. He is in class Monday-Friday 8am-5pm which usually goes over and he isn't home until 6pm or 7pm, and he goes to the gym or studies in the mornings so we don't see him then, either.

I only have in person class on Saturday for now thank goodness, so Sunday is really our only day together. I miss him and having a child also makes solo time difficult. We moved somewhere with no family and we aren't able to go on dates because we don't have a babysitter.

I just need help to keep our love alive because right now I just feel like a roommate. I leave little notes for him around the house and he surprises me sometimes with gifts, but I just feel lonely in this new state and have no friends or family. This is definitely hard, but he is such a good dad and partner, I know it will be worth it to support his dreams. I just stay at home right now, take care of the house, our son, and our dog, all while working full time on my own degree which can be tiring.

Any advice appreciated :)

24F looking for outdoor adventure buddy (preferably female) Allegheny County

Hello! I just moved to the area and haven't met any friends just yet as we have been getting settled! I'm a first time mom to an 8 month old, but we really love getting out and about. I am also available for more challenging adventures when my spouse can watch him.

I am currently premed and my spouse is a med student, but I stay at home.

I love climbing, hiking, camping, paddleboarding, skating, and just generally being outside. Shoot me a message if you're looking for the same :)

Curious about how my dog feels about my son

My son just started crawling last month and loves to play with his brother (my 3yo frenchie). I always monitor them together, but I was just curious what his body language says here. He has never even come close to biting or hurting my son, but I just want to know what to look out for when they are together. Any advice is appreciated! He just laid down in his bed after this video after we played fetch and got some pets from baby before my son found something else to do.

My mom wants to babysit my son, but she's an alcoholic

To make a long story short, I (24F) just moved across the country with my boyfriend (27M) for him to go to medical school. He starts this upcoming semester. My mom conveniently lives a 3 hour drive from us and offered free babysitting for days that we are both in class and I am at work, which would be 3 days a week. I loved this idea, I knew my mom had a slight issue drinking, but she promised to keep it out of my house.

We had her stay at our old house before we moved for a week when my son was first born as she offered to help with chores, and she got obnoxiously drunk on two evenings. I brought it up with her after she left and she lied and said she only had some mini shot bottles.

I wanted to give her one more chance so she came out to help watch my son while we unpacked boxes. She did fine during the day, though he hit his head twice and we are usually more careful about him getting injured. I went out for a work training at night and my boyfriend says she got drunk and came home blabbing.

I am so disappointed and frustrated. I feel like I can't trust her at all, but she doesn't get drunk around my son. The free child care was really nice, but I think we are going to have to look at other options. What do I say to her and what is the best choice? Babysitter? This is all really tough and last minute.

What can I do with my fucked up tent?

Bought The NorthFace Sequoia 4 tent like 5 years ago and took it out on a windy day. The main tent poles got completely fucked up. Is it worth it to fix them or where can I find replacements?

First time camping with my 7 month old

It is finally warm enough to take our first camping trip, and I just wanna be sure we are safely prepared!

We have a 4 person tent, a 2 person camping pad, sleeping bags for mom and dad, and I just purchased a bunting and morrison outdoors 40° sleeping sack for overnight. Is there anything else I need to prepare? The weather hits lows of 43° at night and I just want to be sure he is cozy!

Any recommendations accepted :) we usually sleep with his eufy sock on at night and obviously won't have it tonight so I'm anxious lol

I found this hidden in his beers while cleaning out the fridge. No labels or anything.
