cave full of bountiful iron right next to my base

I'm playing skull island for the first time and am wondering how I should expand from here. The vagrant camps to my left are blocking my way and I dont want to lose them while the only other camps are far to my right just before the mountain portal

No matter what i try to do I cannot enter the arena to fight the storm king, I talked to the npcs at the storm chasers camp and he reacts like I have a weapon from the fight, i was playing with a friend earlier but we both died because our ranged weapons broke and haven't been able to enter since

Trying to start automation but I am very bad with base design and future planning, how can i learn automation basics
