Ask: Baskets and Boxes and Stools

I am partnering at an event in Old Town Park on July 17th and I need woven baskets, hard sided boxes (not cardboard), and a collapsible stool and a step stool.

Baskets I was hoping for like bolga baskets... plastic or fabric boxes would be great!!!

Tacoma Community Pantry Is Officially Open!

After months of planning, I'm so excited to share that Tacoma's first community pantry is outside Urban Grace, the Downtown Church (902 Market St)!

Here's how it works; it's a free, open-to-all pantry where anyone can take what they need or leave what they can.

Right now, it's empty and waiting to be filled, so if you have unopened, sealed non-perishables (canned goods, pasta, rice, hygiene products, etc.) sitting in your pantry, this is the perfect home for them. Guidelines are posted right on the cabinet.

I'm also still looking for a few volunteers:
- Someone to help build a small rain shelter to protect the cabinet
- A local artist who'd want to paint and decorate the cabinet
- Anyone who wants to help with restocking or spreading the word

If you'd like to get involved in any way, reach out at tacomacommunitypantry@gmail.com.

Thank you to everyone who has supported this so far!

Undiagnosed but pretty certain

I have been to urgent care in the kast decade multiple times for various types of these wounds... heat/sweat and stress easily make it all so much worse.

I do pick my skin (I know I shouldn't) and every time I have been to urgent care they say, well just don't pick.

I have tried not poking at these and poking at them. Not poking at them causes much worse swelling and pain overall for me. I swear it makes it hang around painfully longer than when I give it a point to release from.

I typically get mine on my upper back/shoulders, behind my ears, my jawline, and my buttocks.

I haven't gotten support medically not because I haven't tried but because I don't think they believe me... United States here. I've had to take a break from medical support because of insurance interruptions. Hydrocolloid bandages have been the only thing that consistently helps without causing damage too.

I use hibiclens when they are open but can't use it too often because I have sensitive skin. Cetaphil ultra sensitive body wash. I have tried the head and shoulders clinical shampoo, that doesnt help much.

We just had a good two weeks of heat, my ex took the ACs (they were his) when he moved right before the heat wave here... so... I am in pain. I have flares all over and I am ranting.

Small businesses that use AI

Hello all!

With the rise of costs on everything, a lot of small businesses have resorted to using ai for advertising, which doesn't look great on the business from a customers point of view and I wanted to help.

If anyone knows of any small businesses that have used ai for advertising, please comment (or message me? I'm not so sure about the rules on this subreddit) because I want to offer a free photoshoot for their business.

I'm not trying to promote my business on this post at all, just help out other small businesses in this expensive ass climate we live in right now. We are all struggling and I just want to help.

Before anyone mentions anything about it: I hate ai. Im a artist so I feel like it would be pretty straight forward that I hate it but you never know so I just wanted to clear that up.

I'm also new to the area so I don't know of that many businesses which is why I'm asking. Thank you in advance!

Tell me using a food.

A texture.

One of those e quizzes!

A smell..

Check in as seriously or as silly as you need but please, please, please check in.

Mine will be in the comments.

Don't wait for me.

I’ve been researching this idea for a while and I think Tacoma is ready for it. The idea is simple, a fridge placed outside a local business or community space where anyone can leave or take food for free.

These already exist in Seattle, NYC, Chicago, and a bunch of other cities. They’re volunteer-run and surprisingly straightforward to set up. I’ve already been in touch with the Seattle Community Fridge and Freedge (the national nonprofit that supports these) and both have been really helpful.

I’m not looking for anything formal to kick things off, just a small group of people who care and have a little time to spare. Could be 3-4 of us to start.

If this sounds like something you’d want to be part of, drop a comment or DM me. Would love to connect with people who are as excited about this as I am.

My mom just brought me a bunch of frozen meat and what's pictured I can't use or fit in my freezer. I am putting it in my fridge to keep it cool but it needs to be taken ASAP!
