Paycheck question.

So I worked all last week for Rockforce through IATSE LOCAL 7 at the junkyard. It's Thursday morning and I still have not gotten paid. Does anybody have any experience with first checks through rockforce or a general timeline? Any help is appreciated

Are y’all learning AI or resisting it completely?

Curious where people in IATSE land on this. If you’re learning it, where are you learning from? Do you think locals will eventually offer training around AI tools, or is the goal to push back against it altogether?

Pros to a card

Hi. I'm considering applying for a card with one of the Locals I've worked with in the 3 years I've done stagehand work. Primarily wanting to join for both more consistent work and to learn more (both in the job / tasks and the union inter workings).

However, the local I'm looking into is not small, but smaller. We're in NC and primarily we work with a theater for broadway tours with this local, occasionally other small jobs. But we love the people and the team and would prefer this local over others we've done work with.

My question is: what would be the benefits to getting a card vs staying an overhire? Not looking to tour, just stay local. Would we likely get more work or stay about the same?

Thanks everyone!

Replacement Room Local 1

Hey All!

Relatively new (to NYC) freelance electrician here. My usual call lists are getting pretty dry and I've got some time off for the first time in a while. I know summer tends to be slow, is it worth it going to the hall on my off days over the next few weeks?

Thanks!

Question for A1s of Broadway/ Yellow Card Tours

What skills do you look for or wish your A2s had on tour?

Not just standard wireless coordination skills, but other technical skills.

I'm already an A2 for a regional 1500 cap theater and feel good about my abilities, but I want to spend my summer updating my skills so I'm worth more.
