Hakata Style Ramen in Osaka?

Our journey to Japan started on the Busan-Fukuoka ferry. We had a few days in Fukuoka and greatly enjoyed the udon noodles and strawberries but sadly didn’t get a chance to try any Hakata style ramen. (Well, we had a chance but I accidentally ordered a soy-based broth rather than one of the creamy style I was hoping, and didn’t have any meals in town after that!)

We are in the Tamatsukuri area of Osaka now but definitely fine with wherever in Osaka.

Did we loose our chance? Is it possible to try regional ramens outside their region?

Thank you :)

Tobitashinchi

Anybody recently visited Tobitashinchi and what was your experience? I’ve heard some interesting things about the restaurants there and wanted to see who has been recently. I’ll be heading to Osaka for Friday and Saturday night.

Osaka solo traveler looking for some recommendations for solo travellers and also if someone wanna join no problem im in namba dotonbori

I’m in Osaka for the week. I don’t mind taking the subway around the area, but what are some good places to meet some people my age (20’s) to go bar hopping with? I don’t speak a lick of Japanese and I just want to go have some fun while I’m here.

Limousine Bus from KIX

I’m heading to Osaka Tuesday and Google Maps suggests I take the Limousine Bus since I’m going from the airport to Temmabashi Station.
I just can’t seem to find a lot of information on this.
Has anyone here experience with taking this bus? Do I pay cash? How much is it? Is it clearly marked where it’s leaving from? I’m arriving at the airport at 6 pm and need to pick up luggage and withdraw cash. Is the bus only leaving at 7 and 8 pm? Then I would probably have to wait until the 8 pm one so I have enough time, right?

If you’re looking for the best ramen in Osaka I made this site for you

I’ve lived in Kansai for almost 10 years and visited hundreds of ramen shops across Osaka and Japan. The site has 250+ reviews with more added every week. If you’re planning a trip and want recommendations, or just curious what Osaka’s ramen scene looks like, feel free to ask and I’ll point you in the right direction.

Lost camera in Dotonburi

Mods please remove if not allowed!

Unfortunately I was going a little too hard on Saturday night (May 16) and lost my plain black bag which has a Nikon F3 in it either outside of a nightclub in dotonburi or in a cab that dropped me at the place I was staying.

I have unfortunately exhausted my options (checked police stations, filed a report, called a taxi company with an English line, went back to the nightclub) and am leaving for Fukuoka tomorrow and will be going to Kyoto briefly afterwards before flying home on the 27th.

Figured I’d post this as a last ditch effort just in case 🙂 I can tell you what kind of lens and spare film is also in the bag in to prove it’s mine. Thanks in advance!

Osaka/Kyoto Restaurant for Vegetarian

Hi, we’re a group of 7 (including elderly and youths) visiting Osaka, Kyoto, and Nara.

One of us is a religious vegetarian who doesn’t eat eggs, but is fine sharing a plate as long as vegetables don’t touch meat.

Could you recommend restaurants suitable for our group that can accommodate a vegetarian?

Pokemon Cafe reservations 2026 - a lot has changed

Hey! Saw the 2025 guide still floating around and wanted to drop an update since a lot has changed this year, hopefully saves someone a headache 😅

So Tokyo was closed for renos from March 23 and reopens June 17th.. new interior, new hours btw (10:30am-9pm) and a menu update. A bunch of dishes got permanently cut including the Starter Curry plates and the Snorlax plate so if you were going back for those.. RIP lol

After reopening it's now strictly reservation only, no walk ins at all, not even worth trying. Merch is still fine without one though. Still 31 days in advance at 6pm JST, first wave was up to July 7 with more dates dropping separately so keep an eye out.

Booking is def worse than ever since Tokyo was closed. Slots go in literal seconds, felt worse than Ticketmaster honestly. Site still crashes too. Things that helped us: have your phone as backup cause random errors happen, and do NOT use iOS autofill for the OTP code (a common mistake), copy it manually from the email or it just won't work. Cancellations also randomly pop up around 10pm JST the night before so worth checking then.

We gave up doing it manually both times and used bots, honestly thank god tools like that exist (if it helps we used cafesnap bot) no way I'm waking up at 6am for this lol. Had our reservations sorted without the stress.

Osaka stayed open through the whole Tokyo reno (except they'll be closed for in June 8-16) so demand there has been way higher than usual. Same rules, slightly easier than Tokyo but not by much lately..

Good luck, it's 100% worth it when you get in 🙏

EDIT: updating of Osaka closure dates
EDIT2: I know a lot of you guys entered walk ins in Osaka, but for Tokyo, they've said:

[Reservation Notice]
* After reopening following renovations, the cafe will operate on a reservation-only basis for a while.
It has not yet been decided when we will begin accepting walk-ins. Please refrain from waiting around the store.
* Reservations for dates on and after Wednesday, July 8, 2026 will be announced at a later date.
* Merchandise is available for purchase without reservation.
* Dates may change without prior notice depending on circumstances.

Help deciding between Osaka hotels

I have narrowed down 1 trillion great hotels to 4… but now I’m stuck lol.

It will be 2 people per room. We would like a hotel that’s very close in walking distance to not only the train but also a short trip to bars, restaurants, shops, etc… basically near the liveliness. Room size matters in a sense, but as long as it’s not a literal closet size, I’ll be okay.

The final 4 hotels feel very similar to me, even within price so if anyone could share personal experiences or opinions that would be super helpful so I can finally book 🙂
- Bridge Hotel Shinsaibashi
- Fairfield by Marriott Osaka Namba
- Hotel the Flag Shinsaibashi
- Dotonbori Crystal Exe Hotel

Also… separate, but kind of related? Any recommendations for restaurants in/near Namba or Shinsaibashi that actually take reservations lol?

KANSAI AIRPORT?

I will arrive at Kansai International Airport around 6 PM on this saturday evening. I’ll be traveling with my wife and daughter, and I’m wondering how long immigration usually takes. Would it be a good idea to book the Haruka in advance?
